  1. Right chaps, opinions please ..... I purchased a Bergara B14 early last year. I loved the rifle from day one, apart from the trigger, which although usable, was a little heaver than I prefer. I soon replaced the standard trigger with a new Timney Calvin Elite. Happy days! Everything was fine from then on and it was a pleasure to use. A number of days ago, for no apparent reason, when I cycled the bolt the rifle would not set the trigger. . I brought it home and removed the stock to inspect. I couldn't see any issues. At this time I decided to add a little more weight to the trigger as
  2. Yep, it is definitely worth the conversion. I can testify to that.
  3. Same here Ad. I use the 'Vixen Mating' and 'Vixen Domination' this time of the year. I carry on using the rabbit distress calls also. But as you say, we are into mating season and they are more interested in getting their leg over than eating during this period.
  4. On the plus side mate, your FEO must now be convinced that you are one hell of a good chap that keeps up to date with the law and complies accordingly. . This has to be a positive to take from the whole debacle.
  5. Same here mate. I would have held on to them for you, but alas I don't have those calibres either. Sods law eh? That sounds like quite a poor show from the South Wales Force. I have only ever had dealings with the Gwent Firearms Licensing, and I have to admit they have been spot on every time. Keep your chin up mate.
  6. Get one of these. https://www.firstpersonview.co.uk/recorders-dvrs/fpv-pocket-dvr This is the unit that I use. . Have a search on Youtube for "Photon XTreme" by "Danny Boy" and you will see some of my footage.
  7. Well done Walshie. Good write-up mate. Yes, odd moonlight this week. I was out Wednesday night and it was quite bizarre. It was just like walking around at dawn, even though it was midnight. Perhaps that why I didn't get a shot off. P.S. - Good to see that you are getting into the Christmas spirit! "Ho, Ho, Ho!!".
  8. I recently purchased a T67 as a back up to my NM. Honestly, it was utter rubbish. There was so much play/wobble in the head that it was completely unusable for field work and the beam was average at best. It was hastily returned the next day. I have to agree with Lamp_Shy. Night Master all the way. Yes they are expensive (damn expensive!!), but when it comes to NV illuminators, you get what you pay for. I have an X Searcher head on mine, with an AS pill fitted and I would put it up against anything else on the market for performance.
  9. Cheers mate, mines is only couple of months old, so yes it won't be a screw on. Any other options? Not really I'm afraid. There is always the "XTreme" conversion that I have carried out (Photon lens replaced by a camera lens)? I would only go this route though if you find that the x6.5 magnification is really not enough for your requirements. My converted Photon give me roughly x12 magnification, but the FOV is narrowed as a result. Also, finding a good camera lens is not that easy. Have a look on the NV Forum UK. There are loads of threads there on this subject.
  10. Here is an example - https://www.cameraking.co.uk/yukon-nvrs-2-5x50-doubler/ Expect to pay £70 - £ for a new one. You do see them on eBay from time to time as well.
  11. The doubler can only be used on the older x6.5 models mate. The newer models have an anti-tamper ring glued into the thread to stop the insertion of the doubler. What model do you have?
  12. I have picatinny rails on all my rifles and swap my Photon as and when required. By using good quality rings (e.g. Leupold QRW) I can achieve no change in POI from the time that I zeroed the rifle. Obviously you will have to keep a record of the X&Y coordinates for each rifle zero.
  13. I've always use the Night Master 18650 3400 mAh. I have never had to change a battery while I've been out. Even on the longer sessions. Nitecore are supposed to be good as well, although I haven't tried these.
  14. You might have missed the boat mate. Everyone wants NV equipment when the long nights are here. I have found that late Spring / early Summer is the time to get NV bargains.
  15. I just run a snake through the barrel after every outing and give the mouth of the chamber a few rubs with a small brass brush to get rid of the waxy deposits.
  16. I'm guessing that you won't be needing that 22-250 die now then??
  17. It depends on the illuminator. Some you can vary the intensity from the back (e.g. newer model NM's, 3 mode T series), others you have to control by going from spot to flood as Pav says. I use an older model NM800 which requires the rotating of the head to go from spot to flood, but I do not control the intensity this way. I have modified my Photon though to use a camera lens instead of the original Yukon lens. I use the aperture in the camera lens to increase or reduce the light that I require for each of my shots. My NM is always on full, spot beam.
  18. ftm - it all depends on what distance you want to shoot with your Photon. Have a look at some of the vids that I have put on Youtube (Danny Boy - Photon XTreme). I find the image clarity to better with more IR, however 'whiteout' happen when the IR it too high at closer distances. My illuminator is on full blast whenever I switch it on though. I simply control the amount of IR that gets through to the Photon's sensor. Obviously though the sensor does have it's limitations, hence it is difficult to get clearer images at the longer distances.
  19. June??? . I do feel for you mate.
  20. Yeah, just try a box before you buy loads. You might be lucky.
  21. I sold a load of Winchester subs to a mate a few months ago. He couldn't get his hands on any and reckoned that they were super accurate out of his CZ. Long story short ... The latest ones were the newer 42 grain ones and he found out the grouping to be horrendous with these. . Crazy eh? The bizarre world of subsonic ammunition.
  22. Yep Walshie, there definitely seems to be more wax on them these days. I found a fully tarnished round in a box the other day. It looked completely black. I thought that it was a gimmick, like Willy Wonka and the Golden Ticket. "..... Claim you lifetime's supply of Eley Subsonics". Ever the optimist I am. P.S. Damn, you are a good looking fella!
  23. Well done Dave. . As another member pointed out though .... foxing becomes addictive!! Be prepared. .
  24. Yes I did mate. Thanks. I've passed your number on to my mate. He'll give you a call today. Cheers.
