  1. "Now then, now then ..." Walshie. As the guys say, Primos Trigger sticks mate and don't look back. If the Gen2 are significantly cheaper then get them as I have these and to be honest I can't see what can be improved on to justify a Gen3. Shrewd marketing I suppose? I also purchased the additional rest that screws into the top of the sticks. A bit of a fuss if you want to do a quick deploy, but when you are in a position waiting for the quarry to come along they can prove to be very useful. Happy hunting.
  2. Happy days! That is the sort of price that I was paying. You can't go wrong.
  3. Yes, I've seen a jump from around £30 to £38 for the 87 gr Vmax. Extortionate! I'll have to rethink my foxing strategy and play the percentages ... only shoot at the ones within 25 yards!! Seiously though, I always found that the Varmageddons were a decent bullet. Best of all they were well priced! My .223 used to love the 55 gr.
  4. Thanks for the information guys. I always know where to come when I require some "wise words".
  5. Alright chaps? I have yet to come across what I feel is a definitive answer to these questions, so for us humble reloaders, what do you regard as being "The Law" on the holding and storage of the materials/components? I appreciate that the use of common sense will play a big part in how the individual in questions addresses the subject of safety security, so I'm not interested in this aspect, only what we are required by law. 'Shooters Powder' - 5kg? Primers - Ammunition safe storage? Restriction on number? Bullets (expanding and non-expanding) - Ammunition safe stor
  6. Good to know. . I'll give them a whirl when I get the chance.
  7. That is spot on mate. Fair play. I found it too much of a palaver. Mind you, at that period I didn't have a great deal of spare time that I could contribute. This could have helped me establish my negativity towards the activity. Loading some Hornady 25gr HP at the moment. The jackets seem quite soft, so I am expecting some good results. I'll let you know.
  8. Boat-tailed eh? That's good. Most of the 17 cal bullets that I've tried are FB. I'll have to give them a try next summer. No good now though. The Welsh Winter starts in September and last until at least April the next year. Wind and rain. Living the dream eh?? . That's why I've opted for the 25 grain. Yeah, that's the problem that I found with the Hornady brass. The pockets stretched that much I could push the primer in by hand. Some even fell when the brass was inverted. . Not good. I tried the .22 Hornet brass conversion but I found it quite a ball-ache. If you want to form me 100 I'l
  9. Alright Walshie? Yes, I've used Varmageddon's in the past. Initially it was down to the non-availability of the VMax projectiles, but then I noticed the significant price saving so I remained a customer of the brand while I needed them. I've used a variety of weights - 20gr, 40gr, 55gr and 70gr and they have always performed well on distances out to 200 yards. 55gr in my .223 proved to be very explosive on foxes. I had a number where abdomens actually popped, with what must have been the shock of the round.
  10. Yes, D063 is marketed are the AA1680 replacement. I can't confirm the direct relationship though. With 20 grain Nolsler Varmageddons I could get a MV of around 3700fps with the D062. I did try the Lil Gun, but my results were not as good as when I used the Lovex. Also, I did find it quite unpredictable, even on 0.1 grain increments. I've never used 17 grain projectiles out of this calibre. Worth a try one day though I guess.
  11. Good idea. Apologies to airbourne. Sorry mate, I get carried away. . Best of luck with finding the rifle that you are after.
  12. I use 25 grain pills these days and shoot anything from rabbits to foxes with it. Obviously, correct shot placement is critical, especially with rabbits! . Don't expect to see much left unless you do head shots. I haven't tried the lighter TB loads, but I will when I get time. At the moment I'm using 12.0 grains of Lovex D063 with the 25 grainers. I'm getting a MV of around 3400fps.
  13. I have a .17 Hornet. I love it, but it does have one main drawback ... wind. If you are happy to get used to reading the wind then go for it. Personally I don't bother taking mine out on very windy days. Even on the calmer days I rarely use it past 200m. It only takes a breath to push it off target at this distance. Another thing to consider is ammunition. I would only pick up this calibre if you are prepared to reload, or can guarantee a reliable supply of factory loaded stuff.
  14. "There's a kind of hush ... all over the world tonight ..." I'll put this idea on the backburner for the moment then chaps.
  15. Evening. Chaps, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I've recently purchased a new GRS Berserk stock for my Bergara sa (Rem 700 footprint). I want to use a new bottom metal for this stock. Ideally I would like one that will allow me to use AI mags or such like. Do you have any recommendations and/or opinions on what to use? Cheers. Tremo
  16. That's what I like about this forum ..... honest enthusiasts who go out of their way to help each other!
  17. Very generous of you mate. . Someone is going to be lucky.
  18. Like this That looks just the job, Ad. All you'll need then is to blast out a bit of Flight Of The Valkyries and get few Hueys to fly over head dropping napalm. The foxes won't know what hit them! Hueys! How about a fleet of drones all geared up with IR and NV all controlled via a large screen tv, you could shoot a whole farm in minutes, get one of those road sweeper attachments on the front to clear the haul. Like this ? You've got to give it to the Yanks ........... they have some fun for sure!!

  20. We should change your name to Dremo now. There is nothing that I can't do with a dremel. . Just picture in your mind a Jedi Knight in action with a lightsabre. That's me with my dremel.
  21. Thanks for the suggestions. After closer inspection I found that the trigger unit was touching the stock and the bottom metal. Out came the dremel. . I also increased the over travel by 1/4 turn. Happy days! Everything is now working as it should. My cat and dog have now come out of hiding as a result! Cheers. Tremo
  22. My 'Vixen Domination' did the business last night again. It was a shame that I couldn't get a clear shot because of the fog/mist. I don't know why they find it so tempting, but I'm guessing that it encourages the local vixen to oust the newcomer from her territory (?). Dog foxes come in as well, just being nosey. I always take my caller. I simply carry it on a harness over my shoulder and detach it when I want to use it. The controller is in my thigh pocket. I'm just like a boy scout when I go out!
  23. Thanks Walshie. I will be investigating the problem further today. What I can't seem to grasp is that how it has gone from a perfect performing rifle, literally overnight. The dremel could be coming out of the tool box later. ;-) . I'll keep you informed. Cheers chum. Tremo I was thinking of changing the stock to a pillar bedded one anyway. Any recommendations?
