Educating The Public About Airgunning
John Stott replied to Dr B's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I think you make very salient points. However, I still maintain we should not just roll over. As for injunctions, thats civil, and the cost is around £1000 for starters. If anyone takes one out they have to prove their case. I reiterate, the law is actually on the shooters side. Nothing wrong with being assertive, and polite, but assertive. "They", ie antis, will chip away year after year. Look at Scotland, it is going to happen. The police themselves are dreading regulation there, it is going to be impossible to enforce. Stay polite yes, however do not be a doormat. Yes civil injunction -
Thanks for that it is clear. Part of essential kit is a chrono. I frankly cannot understand any sensible person not having one. I think the fit over the muzzle types sell for around £40 and are as accurate as any. I "fettle" my own air weapons. I check the fps at least every few months on all three. Also, just out of interest and after many years shooting, I do not see the point of FAC rated air rifles. Sub 12 PCP's will kill and perform well out to 50 yards in the right conditions. Most rifles are good performers at around 11lbs, and yes some pellets will take it over, thats your responsibili

Mine came from Airguns Direct. They issue a certificate, 11.5 and 785 fps average straight off. I chronoed it last week after 500 and its around the same using JSB or AA at 8.4gn.

Lovely write up and good shooting. I remember once when we had them in Fenland. I was pike fishing at Denver Sluice in the early seventies. Heard a rustle and looked around, theres this monster rat with hideous yellow teeth staring at me from six feet away. Don't know who was more shocked......

How To Stop Flees Jumping From Rabbits To You?
John Stott replied to RemyBolt's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I keep them. Started a flea circus last year. Part of farm diversification. -
Cheque, and by God is it cashed quickly!

Thanks Andy will look into that!

With PCP's its always been bolts for me. I just love bolt actions. That certainty, and the wish that they were SMLE's. That clunk. Then I wandered into Daystate and had the opposite experience to Simon. Its gone now. Because a man came out of the south and spoke thus....."Get thee an HW100". Well this mystical man wrote wondrous words and claimeth great things for this German. So I put my prejudice aside and gotteth one. Love it as well. Also woodwork rocks my boat, I love all wood. Also Rowan bits, I love Rowan stick ons. Present PCP armoury. S410 in .22 for rabbits. Ultra in .177 for pi

I think it is hard to make a living just from pest control. Too many guns chasing too little shooting. The pro guys seem to be rat baiting most of their time to make money, many farmers do it themselves too. Short answer, don't give up your day job.

Yes its a sport. Worth approximately £2 billion to the UK economy annually. It puts food on the table for we peasants too. It encourages young folk to be constructive, analytical and acquire an outdoor skill in the company of others. Now, if that answers your question fine, if not go troll some other place and practice your grammar.

Nice to read of a good trader and gunsmith. Shootings a grand sport with some fine folk involved.

Good bag. Pigs love them as well

I go for eradication. Thats why folk ask me to shoot them. They are not native and as James says, the damage to arable land and crops dictates many of our actions. I have noticed mixy around a lot in Fenland again. That said many are recovering and buzzards are thriving, a sure sign. Meat wise I give mine to some old folk in our village, along with pigeon they appreciate it. I have a few for myself and woofer. Like rats, knock them out and sure as eggs they will be back. One of natures survivors.

Advice On The Law
John Stott replied to the lamping ferreter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I do not wish to see you belittled or have the piss taken out of you laddie but, you've just blown any credible respect with this outburst couched in semi-literate, unpunctuated obscenity.... Take you own good advice about not having anything nice to say. If you want to go mooching about in a van in the wee hours of the night, shooting birds out of trees you will be arrested by the Police who will be tipped-off about some tit in a suspicious looking van, being seen driving up and down the lanes and byways shooting, on a road,, into trees. Use your loaf about how it looks to others. -
pump or dive tank ????
John Stott replied to SEAN3513's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Never buy an out of test tank. It will be corroded internally and thats why its being sold. Only good for scrap. They really are cheap enough new. -
Accuracy Of Hw100 177 Xhw100 .22

Called Leapers UTG, 3.9x32 CQB. -
Boys are just that. Boys. I find they are best ignored but tolerated for their "expertise". Mine makes a complete arse of himself with his Gaystate Mk4 and laser gadgets. Blames the wind for everything...... A funny? I bought him his first S410 two years ago I was showing him the ropes with it, anyhow he fired the first shot, then brought his LEFT arm over the stock to cock it. I started laughing my head off. Of course all he had ever shot was that stupid SA80 bullpup thing they use. Boys, mini men doing their hardest to be manlike, but never succeeding

I love Hawkes, others on here don't. Likewise BSA Basics. I took a Leapers ( of faith? ) this week and bought a Leapers x30 for the HW. It arrived yesterday and just one expression. Wowsa! Lovely clarity, a beautiful little scope. Came with mounts, hinged lens covers, sun shade and spare battery. Its got a multi colour IR with different tap button settings for your ideal illumination. Its only 13 ounces and seems really rugged. First time I have dealt with Tactical Scopes, came next day and he said if my eyes can't adjust to it to return it. £120 all in seems a good buy too. Me, Mr Techno -
"Glasshopper, when you can walk on rice paper"..........Thanks Mark, I didn't go to sniper school. Silly beggars crawling around in that muck and wet for days on end looking like Wurzel Gummidge. Well truth is the science of scopes still baffles me. Of course real shooters use irons only, then when they get close enough bayonet everything in sight. Yet to find a PCP with bayonet lugs, still looking

Sorry about the wheels. I saw that video awhile back and it looks sound, anything to save money. -
Thanks mate will put another Uttings order in soon and try them. Given my eyesight I am pleased with this though, the scopes not a bad one either. Broke my rule on £100 spending limit on glass and bought a Leapers today and yet to mount it. Its got loads of colour combinations and settings so I might find a few to suit me. The guy said at Tactical Scopes it should suit me or to return it if it doesn't. Listen at us.......Si Pittaway wannabees!
