    Maybe he knew yours was a bayer and preferred the harder type .He wasn't a bayer he did mix spot on as I seen it a few times when we broke through he had a good hold.just a sensible dogI'm not slating the dog mate I myself would rather have that type of dog in my yard .

    Grafter ' shovel (round mouth ) where you are a good fork good boots wet gear . Good locator collar . Flask and pack up box . It's like any trade you'll pick up bits on the way . The most important thing for you to do is try get out with others as much as you can in the 15 months that your waiting for the dogs to be ready to stay doing bits with .

    Best dogs I've seen on mixed quarry are saluki bull greys . Mainly a good line bred saluki grey X a good line bred bull grey .
