My camping is usually a bit less "gourmet" than what ive seen from sock's camping trips. Is there any tripadviser reviews about his site? Lol

How do lads does anyone have a recomendation for wild camping spots? I already do a fair bit in and around the lake district up on the fells and fancied a trip further afeild. Ive often thought about having a trip up to the galloway forest but i would like to know some other options and opinions on places around the country. Atb blackdog92.

I had the same thing happen to a mate of mine he was messing around with some of my fenns having never seen one before next thing i heard a cry for help and he had got 3 fingers trapped in it i stood laughing for ten minutes before i decided to help him.

I dont think they will be bothered about the fireworks lol.

I wouldnt go down the inbreeding road you will end up with a lot of problems and the lambs will be most likelly hermafrodites because of it. I would stick to a hill breed for a tup the best imo would be a cheviot tup to cross them with you will get a decent carcass and and should be good to lamb so long as you dont feed them to much. If you want to have a look around for a breed that you think would suit you get yourself to an event like north sheep were all of the breed societys have a stand each and you can have a good look at the diffrent breeding sheepand get some good info while your

Ye thats what i thought i sell my herdwicks as fat lambs but the ones that i keep for the freezer are weather shearlings that stay on dock tarn thats a heathery bit of fell i have they always taste the best.
-
Just look in there mouths a shearling/2 year old will have 2 front teeth and they grow 2 every year untill there 5 when they have a full mouth thats 8 teeth its an easy way to check there ages. Are you going to butch you weathers when there shearlings or as lambs in the spring?
-
I was asking if it was wet because if it is you will deffinatly need to fluke them as well as worm because liver flukes thrive in wet lands so you will be best covering that as well. Yes it will count even if you home butch as thats how long it takes for it to get out of the sheeps system and zermex is not very nice to humans i dont think it would kill you but i wouldnt risk it. Did you check what age your ewes are?
-
When you say nuts do you meen ewe rolls? I dont think there will be any copper in the feed but you can just check the label on the bag. If there copper sensitive you will want to use a copper free dose/drench/vitamin its nothing spechal a lot of sheep are sensitive to it. I would recomend using the carrs billington ewe rolls there mixed with crstalyx high energy treacle so you wont need to put a tub out just dont give them to much less than a hand full each will be enough for them. Regarding dipping if they have been dipped they will be fine for a while now bit im assuming you dont h

I wouldnt bother building a shelter ant they will be fine without it im sure the winters in the hebridese are a lot worse. Aslong as they have a bit of hay to chew on they will be perfectly happy out in whatever weather gets thrown at them. Also it would be better for you if you could source some small square bales because you will get a lot less waste as it would take your small few sheep ages to eat a whole round bale and theres more chance of it getting wasted and if they have adlib hay they will tend to sort threw it to get the best bits and pull the rest out onto the floor and not ea

Hope you like pulling lambs!Texels arent that bad to lamb really its a lot to do with what tup you use. If you put on a texel tup with a massive broad head and broad shoulders you will have problems. But if you used something like a charollais that have a narrower head and shoulders the will come out a lot easier. Thats the thing i dont understand with texel breeders they breed them to have massive heads witch does make them look better but its the 1st thing to go in the bin at the slaughter house so its not really necassery. Just like dogs, many sheep breeds have been ruined by show breeders

Nice dog mate i like the 3rd pic i bet hes thinking stop messing about with camera and lets get the next one.

lol its always wet and cold up there! you'd be waiting a long time for what normal people call "camping weather" Its lucky im not normal then haha. Hes soft though as he's from the lowlands of keswick. Your trip cant be as bad as when i took another mate of mine who manged to set fire to himself 4 times trying to get as close as possible to the fire that included his shirt pants and shoes and coat plus he had to go to work in a cafe in the same clothes it was probally the best camping trip ive ever had or atleast the funniest.
-
Haha never rely on someone else to bring your camping gear lol thats a fatal mistake. I wanted to go tonight but my mate here is winging its cold and wet so it may be a solo trip tonight.

'fur Mommies' - A Pain To Lurcher Owners?

Ive had to deal with the same a thing a while ago from a woman i passed when i was moving some sheep on the fell i always take the lurcher with me for the walk out anyway she came walking along with her lurcher and it was marked up a bit and she said the usual you have your hands full with all them dogs and how much of a good person she was for rescuing this poor hard done to dog then she noticed my lurcher and at the time he was mending a small cut on his front from i dont know what probally bashing into something. So then she comes out with how did your lurcher get that cut on him and i
