I think it also comes down to how popular the round is received throughout as a majority all over which gives better accessibility to it.
-
It also depends on how much ammunition you are going through as this dictates in his /her eyes your competencey, you may want to take photo's of your quarry which you can use as evidence ( not really needed tbh) but after a set period of time which is normally no less than 6 months they can open it up for you providing you have proved your need of use for this.
-
I don't think it effects the accuracy but it does muzzle velocity, I don't know if you can get the fore sight/iron sights back on but you can ask.
-
Yes I do believe that the cz 452 is the modern more up to date version of the Brno model rifles (1,2,3,4 and 5) that's why there's similarities.

Another Variation Question Sorry
celticrusader replied to slipper's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
No on the variation they just work off your current FAC permitting the land is cleared for that calibre and/or they're happy with you. -

Variation For A Foxing Riffle
celticrusader replied to dicky das's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Don't know if this is of any concern but I think there has been a bit of a twist in the facts when it comes to the .22lr, think it was last year that I had a look at a chart which shows the varying calibre's and how many times used to a lethal effect, I dont know if this was a US based chart but I do remember that the .22 was leading considerably probably due to the age and ease of use in comparison to other calibre's. I think this is where people make the assumtion that it is the most dangerous of calibre's...not the right description or choice of words. -
Very nice! ,yes it depends on the land layout and circumstances, many a time there a hindrance lugging around and many a time they are the tool that's needed but left behind.
-
Tbh gents I think you find a lot of air softing and cadet malarky involved in this and I don't have a problem with this and its more than suitable for range use and I'm sure very fun, but thats where it ends in my opinion. I think there's a lot zombie fantasists in this area and as you guys have rightly said "forbidden fruits" being a term mentioned, being ex army myself its not my cuppa tea although I do use my 22lr semi auto it certainly wouldn't look like those rifles.

Variation For A Foxing Riffle
celticrusader replied to dicky das's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I've got a ruger american in 1:9 .243 which is for that and the intention of deer which has fallen by the wayside as cost of travel and paying out quite heavily just before Xmas will set me back for awhile...but when I'm sorted. What you've mentioned sounds a good plan tbh dicky das and you'll be able to use heavier loads with that twist rate, most possibly better than the lighter ones and if fox is your only quarry (or cwd and munty) with that particular rifle then alls good mate. -
Why the .204 as there are many others?
-
Tbh I think that its a thin line within using a said rifle on the range for just zeroing or familiarisation and at what point is that considered target shooting is debatable in varying factors to each person, not very clear as everyone's interpretation for this varies. Nasher1 if your willing to travel to s.Wales just over the bridge they've got a range which you can do just as you've stated in one of your previous comments, my friend and I travel there and mainly use the outside 100m firing point in which they drop back to the 200m point later in the day, £15 pp if I remember right and yo
-
That's OK, as nasher1 and yourself have said there are alot of people none the wiser or even know of the existence of the licences mentioned and that even includes police and people who should know as seasoned shooters of much experience and a lot of people I've met in this category are those. Ignorance is no excuse but we can't know it all but trying to is my intention as your right this is our sport and the vast amount of knowledge in this can be troublesome at best...but that's what we're here for.
-
Well I will admit that it has been awhile since I have read upon the intricate details of the licencing but my original post was a passing comment that was free to correction but I was also unaware of the badgering I would receive for this. There is a lot of information to take on board within our sport and I guess I'm a little guilty of not reading up on every tiny little detail and memorising it all.
-
Well I knew that the game licence is no more and as I never had one or shot game i had no reason to have one, what year or date it ceased I had no idea and thought that it was either covered under the general licence or had gone the same way, we are all here to share info and help i am also under no illusion that I know everything and have no problem be corrected if iam wrong.
-
Well I don't miss the point as you've stated that they were both two separate licences and one is no longer required. I mentioned it firstly because I was under the impression that it covered game shooting..I can understand that I was wrong but why make a meal about it danw?
-
Because danw it is the only one we go by as you've stated the game licence is gone and maybe Cedric or anyone else was unaware of even this.
-
Sorry let me clear that up, your right Danw..the general licence is all I'm aware of at this moment and the game licence is indeed gone now. Post office used to do them if I remember right.
-
Went out on the rats Friday just gone, I normally have 3x 8shot Brno mags and an mtm wallet which doesnt rattle and then I will carry a spare box anyway but I put most of my gear in my hunting designed waistcoat. As I move around very slowly or I'm stationary especially doing this form of hunting its not that much of a problem.
-
I do believe its classed as the general licence and is all mental knowledge based.
-
MTM wallet, don't leave the rounds in them though as it stretches the brackets.

Browning Buckmark V Ruger 10/22 ?
celticrusader replied to courser's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The cz 511 is the modern remake of a Brno 581 and have to agree, as I have the Brno and for short range rabbiting and especially ratting I certainly wouldn't use a bolt action for that role...the hmr is for accuracy on further range. Its all about the quarry and job at hand. -
Yep me also...love my hmr but if you want a long range rifle for crows :/ why not decoy them with the shotguns? I'm sure when you get the hang of it its much more effective, either that or decoy them in neer to a hide and pick them off the ground with the moderated .22lr..not very sporting but a lot quieter
-
Ha ha ..you know what there's something about the ability to use open sights with a full wooden stutzen stock and if moderators weren't the need for most of us I guess I would be seeking out something a little more vintage looking myself
