I knew Brian very well and classed him as a good friend, however he did stretch the truth on occasion, sometimes for the reaction it brought, sometimes for the benefit of the book (tale). Hi Back Stabbath,I actually replied to your post on this subject before THL crashed where you also said a bitch should be three before being bred from and a dog should be two. Didn't see your reply (if any). If your talking of waiting till a dog has proven it's worth breeding from with regards to working ability then I definately agree with you, but I don't think you are or why the difference between dog and bitch?.So I'll ask again what do you base your facts on?

So... you went to buy a lakie x jackrussel, ended up buying a cairn, didn't see the mother, took it with no papers and an eye i i nfection, thirteen weeks old but not innoculated and then you don't notice the papers are for a nine month old pup ?. Then you wonder why people like that are still in business.

Give them a chance mate, first time out and you're expecting them to work like seasoned adults. What's with the carrying box with mesh on top?, what happens to the ferrets if it rains or snows?.

As it happen I didn't realise it was November and fifty yards starts instead of one hundred, so a man could be forgiven for thinking concessions have been made to accomodate Marks dog, which, to my mind anyway kind of defeats the purpose of the whole competition.

Had a dog a few years back, sounds very similiar to yours Mark, very fast, very determined with plenty of bottle and a great mouth on him. Caught thousands of rabbits with him and I do mean thousands not just a beer tent term. He also caught a lot of hares some hunted up, some big starts, some mugged, some spectacular runs.......and your point is I hear you asking, well the longer the run went on the less likely he was he would catch it, his first run was his best run and any run after that you could see the gradual deterioration his third hare was never as good as his first, the heart and dri
