  1. I've a border bitch due the 12th of Aug (if caught first time) both of the parents are used for rabbiting and ratting, neither have ever been to ground. I'm in central Scotland.
  2. Used to hunt a large tract of moor and all the dogs I've owned caught double figures regularly, best bag was 44 to my half cross collie/grey she was the best dog I've owned for that type of ground take her to flat fields, short grass though and it was a different story.
  3. For a man to come on here (and I don't care how inexperienced or new to terriers he is) and post and be excited about a terrier killing a young songbird, then he's either a fecking lunatic or he's at the windup. Pipey I have a half set of golf clubs going cheap. Unlike the bird in your conservatory.

Maybe if they made some of the benefit scrounging Bast***s (British that is) take jobs, then there might not be as many immigrants here. 92,000 Poles came here and got jobs but we've got 500,000 unemployed and God knows how many on the sick wih piss all wrong with them. Speaks volumes.
  5. If it was somewhere else they'd be organising a fecking concert.
  6. I notice quite a few people posting, here's the two pups I'm keeping back, I myself think you can only do justice to one pup and it's better to have a gap between dogs. What's your opinions?.
  7. I suppose everyone hopes to breed that elusive dog the perfect lurcher, I don't see what this cross could provide more than say a collie/grey other than more litter wastage. Someone asked why they're not more common,I think the answers obvious. Years ago I saw one at the final of the lurcher obedience trials at Blairgowrie/Blairatholl not sure which, to be fair it was the best hunter of the day from three dogs each from Scotland,England and Wales but it was way too heavy couldn't get close to a running rabbit.
  8. put the saluki/grey first cross over the akita bitch....il keep a bitch outta the litter and fine it with whippet or greyhound dog...dont knock it!!!! I genuinely don't mean to be offensive mate but why the feck would you want to?.
  9. Are you sure it's 28 inch at the shoulder?. Is it only beardie or beardie/border?.
  10. They are both awful with the ferrets! I dont know if its me being a bit scared to let them run free together but they both seem intent on eating the ferrets! Molly jumps on them (Tail wagging though) and the ferts try to bite her and Daisy spends nearly all day at the hutch trying to get in! The kitt winds her up by climbing up and down the mesh trying to bite her tongue When I see other people's photos with their dogs playing with their ferrets I could cry as I cant see that ever happening here I wouldnt care, I REALLY want them to work together as I have predominantly rabbiting permission
  11. Benzyl benzoate is difficult to get now, if possible at all. Get stuff from the chemist called Ascabol its for lice , crabs and scabies (watch the space around you clear when you ask for it) mix it 50% with liquid parafin and syringe it liberly into the ear and massage it in, the parafin breaks up any wax and the Ascabol kills the mite. Don't tell them it's for animal treatment or they won't sell you it.

Countrys heading for a massive "civil war" Better be sooner rather than later or we'll be well outnumbered.
  13. Yep mate Jack London wrote call of the wild, great book and I think (don't quote me ) a film as well starring Charlton Heston. Another good book by London is White Fang about a wolf/dog hybrid.
  14. I would say the opposite seems more true. I've rarely read posts in the lurcher section that one didn't refer to their lurchers as " keen as mustard" Seems not matter what two you put together most will say their's are excellent on the lamp and catch two out of three. Will someone get real on how many of these lurchers or longdogs actually make the grade. You guys are getting me to believe that 100 % or nearly 100% make the grade. Doubt very much if the success rate is anything like 100% in fact it's probably nothing like it, so we have a dillema in that 1 everyones idea of a worker is d
  15. thank feck for that, I thought you were being serious... and yes, you're very right on that statement... Cheers mate
  16. Well perhaps a slight touch of sarcasm but how many people do you know that have went through umpteen dogs and never owned a decent one and its never down to them.
  17. That'll be me then, no it wasn't sarcasm and it certainly wasn't aimed at you.
  18. I suppose it depends on how you define worker, one man might think his dogs the bees knees another man might think it's crap. Your man Hancock takes a lot of flak some might say deservedly but I've seen a lot of decent dogs out of his kennel, I've also seen a lot of mediocre dogs bred from two supposedly excellent workers. There are a lot more factors involved IE the owner, the ground, the amount the dog gets out, how its entered . One thing I have noticed over the years though its always the dog that's a duffer not the owner.
  19. If I free fed I'd have dogs built like pigs and a food bill that resembled the national debt.
  20. I think you'll be doing well to get a collie bred lurcher pup with no lines whatsoever going back to Hancock.
