  1. ............................ so why do we breed bull x's??????? sure it isnt so that they are slow and lumbering....they were bread as hard deer killers...strong jaw.....had them long before they bacame fashionable.....why else would you introduce apbt into a breed??? You tell me. Remind me again why you need a hard dog to kill deer.
  2. A lurcher doesn't need to be aggressive, don't confuse this with being game and it certainly doesn't need to be hard to take deer.
  3. I'm not promoting Hancock and given the choice then I would opt for a pup from working parents, but, if we could guarantee honesty then it would be interesting to see that all the people who failed with a dog from Hancock, how many other dogs they've failed with. Sadly some people have selective memories when it comes to this.
  4. Why is it that lurchers and terriers are so cheap compared to other dogs, you see dogs of various breeds selling for two to three times the price of a well bred hunting dog and all they are required to do is lay by the fire and fart whereas we expect miracles from our canine hunting companions yet they fetch only a fraction of the price. Ask your average hunting man more than a hundred quid for a well bred, well reared pup and you visibly see the colour drain from their face. I noticed pups advertised in the for sale thread for £120 not much response untill they dropped to £50 and then peo
  5. I was assured just last week by a woman who brought her golden retriever bitch to be lined by my stud dog that if a pedigree bitch is mated by a mongrel or a breed different from itself then it was ruined for breeding. Even if it was mated to a dog the same breed as itself at a future date the pups would be mongrels.
  6. Reading the ferreting threads I've noticed the apparent lack of ferreting dogs (or what I would class as a ferreting dog) that seem to be about. Now I know a lot of people can't own a dog for various reasons but from what I can see some people who own dogs and use them for other things don't use them for ferreting or if they do they're basically catch dogs used to catch the odd rabbit that slips the net (and lets be honest a greyhound would fulfill that task). I'm talking about the dog that is a true and reliable marker, marking only inhabited burrows walking past empty burrows, the dog that s
  7. She would have been executed if they'd found out its full name was Mohamed the pooh.
  8. There isn't really any point to cleaning the bitches feet coming back into the yard unless you're doing your own and everyone elses as well.
  9. I've found leaving a radio on down low helps, it breaks the silence and I think settles the pup.

You way behind the times SJM the real pros use velcro strips glued to the side of the wellies. much quicker to position and to remove if someone turns up Cheers bob It also enables you to nip round the front and kiss them.
  11. What have you lined your collie with SJM ?.
  12. Don't be sorry, it's fcuking true.
  13. Doesn't matter how many nipples, or mammary glands, your bitch has, keep an eye on her and run your hand under her daily and you will notice if there's anything wrong. If you notice any hardening of the mammary gland, strip some milk out (you can use a towel soaked in hot water as a compress) and put one of the bigger pups on the teat. Antibiotics wouldn't go amiss either.
  14. By law a landowner must take steps to control rabbits. That aside, you could take a chance and just ferret the ground but why not lamp the ground you have permission on and catch the rabbits when they're out at night feeding. I actually like it when my permission borders somewhere like this I leave it alone treating it like a living larder hopefully ensuring (disease aside) there's always sport to be had on my side of the fence.
  15. You should be booted off this site now its a HUNTING forum not a showing one So what are you saying mate, you can't be a hunter and show your dog. If that's the case I'm pretty sure there would be a lot more people booted off.
  16. Nice looking dogs mate, I would maybe think about taking their collars off though, just in case they snag on something.
  17. What really pisses me off is the fat gits that bleat about it but do feck all about it, oh and that age old classic, its my genes. No it's not, you eat too much and your a lazy ba**ard.
  18. Might be wrong here mate but I think it can happen with poodles.
