    if no better or more humane ways are available then yes i agree but the fact is its done in the name of religion and not animal welfare Similar argument was used around the ban...running quarry with dogs for example....more humane ways etc... I understand where your coming from Paulus but to be fair the point made by Sandy is a valid one let's face it for many of us pre ban if running certain quarry then it was a quick, clean, efficent way yes i have done it myself but out of necessity not choice. are you really saying if you were going to set up a slaughter house then this would be you

    horses for courses, no point in buying a ferreting dog if you don't intend to go ferreting, decide what you want the dog to do, workout the attributes the dog will need to do what you want it to do. then look for a litter that has these attributes . the rest is down to you and the luck of the draw, lurcher litter spread in both build and ability is legendary
