  5. If 2lb 1oz was really the correct weight when coming out, that bird must be at starvation point now, & you wonder why isn't responding well?? Training is not just about hunger!!! FFS
  6. A drop of 12oz after coming out of the avairy??? A male....Jesus....that bird is getting proper f***ed about!!!
  7. Are you still working these terriers kaas? Only the bitch whit the big ears , one is dead one last his frond leg and one is rehomed and one is 10 now and i only use her for trapping now wish basicly means that she is working on her old days lol Looks like they gave you plenty of sport, time moves pretty fast with working dogs.....I take it you hunt more above ground these days?
  8. I only found out tonight, I was a huge fan of the Velvet Underground & his album Transformer. Classic.
  9. They are remarkable little dogs. I have a few down here and they have proven to be excellent all rounders. They have a very high prey drive, excellent noses and above all, they trail bark which is what I need for hunting Sambar. The only genetic issues I am aware of is PLL (Primary Lens Luxation) in some lines. The problem affects the eyes in many terrier breeds including some Jagd Terriers. Considering the origin of the breed, which is relatively new, I am surprised they haven't come to the notice of UK hunters sooner? Well I think they are now, and jagd are in the uk, but still when I s
  10. If you have a hunting license you can buy day's on driven boar hunts in the ardenne from there you can make friend and open the doors into a hunting combination , you also can buy 4 or more dogs and go beating 25€ a day a dog and free foot and drinks Yeh the only thing with the hunting licence kaas, is that it includes shooting & you need to speak fluent French, neither of which I do at the moment! Or have I got that wrong? Also I was thinking more on the lines of earth work......not just with jagd but with any terrier. I've only looked into hunting regarding hawks so far in belgium &
  11. I switched from the idea that a kill was the best confidence booster, to letting inexperience dogs chase live stuff at the end of a dig, it worked for me, it's not all ways convenient, but it gives just as much confidence....
  12. Tell her to f**k off and show her how to work the mower....... Cut mine today, still haven't lived with a women who cut grass though, maybe it should be separate thread! Lol
  13. Nice to hear that your letting stuff run 'another day', good terrier work!
  14. Never had a lurcher that was a problem, it was always the terriers that caused havoc!
  15. Some great looking true working terriers here......really making me miss having an earthdog!
  16. Peroxide may help, as it bubbles up it may bring the crap out with it, used to use it to clean out puncture wounds on terriers
  17. Yeh that's a good point, I thought exactly the same before I did it, but didn't experience it, I did it with harris & gos & I think it didn't cause any obvious problems, each reward is tiny & the work has a positive effect, not just fitness. The reason I never fed in the mews, is because before I got a bird I used to help out with a mate who had a female, he would just toss food to her regularly, she was pretty hideous, especially around food & at the same time I was reading hollinshead & he was advising the opposite, so I thought I'd never do it when I got mine. I had goo
  18. I lost all my pics in a house move 8 years ago, not just digging pics, but general dog pics as well, I was gutted, but got over it pretty quickly, but since coming on this forum..........I really miss those pictures.....the mind is just not enough sometimes...
  19. I must admit since I've been on the continent I got all exited about the possibility of owning one, but hunting land seems so incredibly hard to get in belgium, I don't think I could do one justice! I've been looking at them for a couple of years now, I'd love to get out with someone who works these dogs....
  20. During hunting season I never feed in the mews or just toss food to the bird, if you really can't get out, then make the bird work for the food, when you get into it, it's surprising how many jumps you can get out the rations & only rewarding on every other jump etc, I used to do it off a high step ladder, 70+ jumps or rope work , but I've only ever kept 1 bird at a time so routines like that are easily done, it's not the same for everyone. ATB
  21. Lazy minds, that's what I mean gonetoearth, a very good friend of mine has been unemployed for 20+ years, he actually got private health through the NHS for his op, he's chose to be unemployed.......the drain on the NHS comes from all directions.....I agree with some of your points, but it's not the whole picture mate.....,,
  22. Lol most people would rather spend £50 a month on a million f****ng sky channels they don't watch, than health care, my bank gave me the option years ago, £50 for private health care, I thought it was too much....I spent on the money on the piss instead.....it go's way deeper than health tourists lol.....another convenient excuse for us as a nation being f***ing lazy
  23. Fantastic looking dog mate......I want him
