badger are protected here since the 70s but I don't know why because the department of agriculture have hit them so hard in the last few years you would think they were trying to wipe them out altogether.

good going trunk. how tall is the collie cross he looks a big strong dog.
-
another one.
-
she's not fully fit yet but she is a decant bitch.
-
she's a 23" first cross bull/hound this is her second season and she's doing great so far she'll go to anything and has bags of wind for a first cross. ill stick a pick of her up on this thread tomorrow when I take one.
-
skin the rabbit first because if you feed it with the fur on when the pup starts catching he might just want to eat it. when he is retrieving caught rabbits to hand you can feed with the fur on.
-
carrot's and any green leafy veg you have about.

well trunk I love that dog hes definitely one of the nicest on the site along with jack the lads dog and wezzas dog. im the same as night warrior id take a pup from that dog in a heart beat. your dog crossed with a saluki/bull/grey and you wouldn't go wrong. or my bitch, wink, wink, hint, hint.

First x is a halfx where i come from I think he might mean 2nd generation but I could be wrong. I have a first cross and a 2nd generation here and both are good on rabbit with the first cross being the best. the first cross will take anything she's great for 23". the 2nd cross is young and has only being shown rabbit so far so time will tell with her, she's 23 1/4" tts. there's a couple of things that can be said for the bull crosses they are very loyal and will always give 100%.

as said mate if you like Wheaten crosses get one I know a couple of lads with them and there good dogs. first cross or 3/4 hound 1/4 Wheaten both good types and well able for all quarry we have here in Ireland just make sure its from working dogs. Wheaten crosses can lack a bit in stamina and need to be kept fit but when they are fit you wont go wrong.

You don't know the story mate. The lad could have been badly advised and ended up with a heart breakingly head strong dog for a first time animal. Rehoming it may well have been best for both man and beast. Some of the best dogs iv clapped eyes on have been head strong feckers and not just lurchers, He asked about dog men, IMO I think a good dog man should try his hardest to overcome the challenge he's got and reep the rewards when it all clicks, wanted too much too soon I think, failed the dog in training, who knows but he got rid of a young dog, he's only 15 he said so like you said maybe ba

iv been looking into it to and a lot of people seem to like Hornady 40 grain v-max and also Hornady 53 grain supeformence v-max. the ballistics for the superformence are equivalent to standard 22-250 amo according to Hornady. ill be picking up my .223 soon and ill be trying out both.

the best slips iv used are bog standard dog leads just wrap the clasp around your hand loop the handle through the collar and hold with one finger then slip. 2 euro in the discount shop and they last for years.

Yeh that's great. But how safe can you be. I've got 3 dogs here that get walked twice a day. If I've got an unjabbed pup sat in the kennels then it's being exposed to the bacteria from their feet. Do I stop the pup going in the porch where the dirty shoes are kept? Do I wash my hands between touching older dogs and the pup? look mate don't be daft if I had an un jabed pup here it would be in less risk at home even if my other dogs were out and about and then in contact with the pup when they got home rather than the pup been out with them coming in contact with earth's and sent marks

that's good going mate I was out late tonight and only got 3 and just missed a fox. I checked out some old ground a few nights ago and got 12, it looks like it could produce a few good bags this year. keep up the good work.
-
lads you can bring a pup somewhere where dogs don't be but don't forget fox's are dogs and get all the same infections that dogs do so the only way to really be safe is to wait until your dog has its jabs.

I had a blue whippet/hound bitch 22" tts a few years back she was a great little dog lamping rabbits. the most I got with her was 17 when only half fit and that's a lot for around here. she would hit the ditch hard and even caught rabbits after I turned the lamp off [ her party trick ] she caught 2 hares as well in small fields. I had another black whippet/hound bitch 21" tts also very good on rabbits but what shocked me with her was she could take a fox quicker than most bullxs! true.

your pup should be ok after its first jabs the second jabs are a booster and are important but not as important as its first jabs. atb.

around where im from there's not to much theft of dogs there is some but not much but like the stickers they use spray paint on the road outside the houses to be robbed. just another thing to watch out for.

you were probable told the truth about the dog. just because the sire and dam are good dogs that doesn't mean the pup will be. I saw litters before where both sire and dam were great dogs and the hole litter turned out to be siht and so dealt with. I had a dog here up to last week who I had big hopes for, his sire is a 3/8bull 5/8hound and the best fox dog iv seen and his dam is a very good wheaten/hound but the dog I got was useless he was scared shitless of the dark hated teeth wouldn't catch a rabbit to save his life and never fukced up howling needless to say where he is now. not all good

cover why you gave up your guns where you were mentally then and now be straight forward, honest and as Deker said don't grovel. I don't know if this is possible for you but I made an appointment to see the super in my area rather than send a letter. a 5 minute face to face chat is better than any letter the local garda told me that.

its fine to feed dogs hole rabbits just shoot them and feed them, fur, heads, feet and guts the hole animal. I feed a raw diet and you have to feed meat, bone, organ and leafy veg. the half digested grass and whatever else they eat is easer for the dogs to digest than the veg I give them. its only the intestines of larger animals you don't feed.

lads the reason there's so many dogs in rescues and been passed around is not because people don't cull pups its because people don't cull grown dogs when they prove to be dirt and then breed from them and there pups prove to be dirt and so on. if everyone got the pup or pups they wanted gave them a chance and done away with the siht and only bred from good dogs there would be a lot less unwanted dogs out there and when people are willing to pay £200 + for a lurcher pup that's not helping either in Ireland you would be lucky to get euro for a lurcher pup. when people can get £200 or £300 for
