  1. An excuse for yet another fleecing from the vet, mate. Forget it lol the ferrets don't need it. Only time I'd recommend it if the ferret comes into contact with foxes or badgers a lot or gets bitten by one, cos that's the only scenario you'd really have a problem with distemper.
  2. One jill might no be enough if he keeps forcing himself on the jill he could mark her or cut her and you still have to separate them How bad can the injuries get from the biting when the hob starts humping the jill? surely its just a small graze?
  3. Yeah the hobs need separating when they come into season next year. The One- I find bumming is okay it the fighting that I draw the line at
  4. Yeah would make things slower on the field but agree with Happyferret, they need companionship as they are naturally sociable animals and will become bored and lonely by themselves. I should know because I have kept lone ferrets before. Now, not a single ferret I own lives by itself and its so nice to see them play together In my opinion the best case scenario you could have is a vac hob to sort out your jills when they come into season, apart from that you would need to separate your hobs during this time.
  5. As said above I know for a fact that ferrets that are kept inside the house with plenty of artificial lighting come into season very early, around December. This has happened to some of my mates who keep them as pets. Never heard of the reversed happening so can't help you there.
  6. i got drain pipe and some fishing rod tubes which they love but got bored of looking for some free flexi tube. well that's fair enough, these days your better with the dough in your pocket, but I was referring to onthehunts comment, just don't see how ye can "love" your ferrets more with money lol. I don't think they give a shite Obviously wouldn't do it if I was skint mate, but am not. One thing that depresses me is seeing my ferrets bored which can happen all to easily and if this by some measure enriches the hours they spend in their cage, then great. Kapeesh?
  7. There are non drip bottles on the market and if it really bothers you. They are only a few quid more but some I know swear by them. I always have some sort of bedding that soaks up the water fom the leaky bottles anyway so don't have a problem with rotting wood.
  8. Very cute kit:-) Most hobs don't reach full adult size until 9 months and even after will put weight on in terms of fat. At 2.5 months, he is growing so you can't be sure how big he will get even if his parents are small.
  9. Aye some folk must get there money easy [/quote And some folk must love their ferrets more... ;-)
  10. Where do you get that yellow and blue tube?
  11. Yeah your right The One, it was FULL of bunnies but (mildly) entertaining still ;-)
  12. Bugz-for the same price, better to get one made for ferrets in my opinion Does yours rust? Mine does, very annoying.
  13. Yeah she played a lot with the other two today and I have taken her out on the harness too. She seemed nervous in the open but am sure it did her a world of good as she probably needs the extra exercise lol As she was a rescue taken in by a breeder, I don't know what her previous history is and think she may be around 4 years old but she seems well-socialized with people and ferrets. not with cats or dogs though lol
  14. True but can't beat Nescafe gold blend for instant
  15. No she's not in season and she has had a litter already this year with her previous owner. The ferrets usually get some time per week inside the house to interact with people but this girl has proven to be an utter hazard, almost jumping out of an open window twice so she stays in the hutch and gets to run about the garden on harness. May be working her at some point in the future too a bonus is that she's small and lean
  16. A quick question lads and lasses, I recently acquired an adult jill to put with my 2 male kits (12, 21 weeks) and yesterday put them in a nice large hutch complete with indoor section and run. There are plenty of toys and things to entertain them and they were playing for ages when I put them in but since then, the jill keeps pacing like mad up and down the run as if she wants to get out. She does it for a long time. I've never kept a jill before just hobs and have noticed her activity level is through the roof lol Is she bored or stressed or is it just a jill thing?
  17. I agree with dytkos, don not tell the rescue especially RSPCA you are going to keep it for working because they will not rehome to you, as folks I know have enquired before just tell them they are going to be cherished pets!
  18. Foxtails-this tube is flexible so it bends to whatever shape you want From what I glean by my observations, they enjoy playing with the Thru-Way more than the hard drainage pipes. Yes lol I do spoil them a tad but this is the best £££ I've spent on them by the way there's a typo in the product description cos it expands 20 feet
  19. Thanks for that. Put me off my brunch lol
  20. One of the best products you could ever buy for your ferrets is the Super Thru-way. And before you think its just for pampered, spoiled pets just check it out Its honestly money well spent and the ferrets spend hours playing with it and far better than a drainage pipe which I have some of http://www.healthstyleemporium.co.uk/Marshall-Super-Thruway-p/1002z.htm
  21. Incest. Its not unusual pal (starting to feel like Tom Jones this week!)......in the animal world that is, and your neck of the woods obviously ha ha My Hob would happily have a gang bang with his mum, sister and daughter if i let him. And probably his son would get it aswell  I know its common in animals (some human populations too ). Has anyone here ever had an accident where a jill has gotten pregnant with an immediate relative?
  22. Saw some the other week at a drainage site but they were being used. Depends on where you are in the country cos some spare pipe will be left lying around and some you won't be able to get to. Personally if you really want some pipe, go on Amazon and buy several metres for 3 quid. easier than going to all the trouble of seeking them out on the street.
  23. Yeah they are aggressive with other ferrets, in particular other hobs, but not with people. My hobs are just as cuddly and lovable during the summer than when outta season
