Upload a pic mate as I can't comment without seeing the damage. Seems too many people use chicken wire and setups that are simply not secure. nothing is 100% secure but there are things you can do drastically lower your chances of getting jacked may just require putting more work into your setup.

I've found farmed mink to be the meanest actually. Wild mink have little to no experience with people, where as ranch mink have been grabbed by their tails and had negative things done to them like being given shots, or held in squeeze shoots so they can have their fur graded. The wild mink have had no experience with people, positive or negative, so you have a clean slate to work with. I didn't start out training them like hawks, I just did a trial and error until I figured out what worked. It turns out that many falconry methods work great with mink, and others work HORRIBLY. For example

Then try him with another hob and tell us how it plays out

I love the first title ...and how about a complete manual entailing everything you have learnt and a section on breeding too
-
Animals should be treated as individuals and I'd say if the hob is a thug with all other hobs then he's best kept alone I have had hobs that have lived together like two peas in a pod, never humped each other etc but thats prob because they were raised together. Honestly Northern Lad, if the micro is a domineering little thing then he'll be the one doing the humping!
-
Yeah I know, but surely a big hob would kill a micro hob if they fought properly? I've only ever had two (normal sized) hobs once, and they fought like cat and dog all year round so I've avoided it ever since. I've just put my hob back in with my jills and he's a much calmer animal now he has company. Toying with the idea of getting a micro hob so was wondering if it's feasible to leave it with a normal hob...if it isn't I wouldn't bother. Some ferrets get on some don't nothing to do with size. I know it's nothing to do with size....but if two equally sized ferrets go at it the

Oh wow are you serious? Here in Australia it will cost me $200 aussie dollars to get my girl done! She came in season the night before she was due to be done. Vet said i have to wait 2 weeks then get the jill jab,but every other ferret owner i have spoken to say get it done asap. Would have been Sunday night she went in season, off to the vet first thing in the morning to get the jab. I have no interest in breeding her at all,nor do i wish to let any male cover her (have heard about the breeding). My best option with my working girl is to spey. I believe the jill jab will cost me about $40 auss

You have a point there, Country Joe..

No ferrets are very dependent on their hormones to stay healthy. not similar to cats at all in this respect. You only have to do some research on the subject.
-
up to you mate but yeah like I already said wait to they are 12 months so they're fully developed.
-
Neutering saves hassle but the health risks become apparent when they hit middle-age. Higher risks of adrenal diseases all those nasty things Best way is vac hob to service jills. I would never get a ferret sterilized as they are dependent on their hormones more than cats and dogs.
-
wait till they are 12 months to be safe so their growth will be complete. but do it before they come into season because a vet won't do it when they are in season cos chance of excessive bleeding.

27 in 3 hours for me was the most want to beat that this season

How Old Do Ferrets Have To Be Before You Work Them
onthehunt replied to Dan25's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Freaking animal shelters are retarded. If you want to put the animal to good use and let the animal do what it was born to do, they don't want you to have it. If you are going to just take it home and lock it in a cage so it can spend the rest of it's life bored out of its mind, they'll happily give it to you. Explain to me why a loving home involves locking the animal in a prison for its entire life, and denying the animal the ability to do what it was born to do! SO STUPID!!! I'd like to just drop people like that off in the middle of the jungle and let them ether learn to survive or die try -
you're right, 3 quid is good....but it says 3.5cm diameter??? am I being thick or what? Rob-check this one out. Its the ones i buy off Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ancol-Small-Animal-Tuff-Extends/dp/B003PSJNZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378741552&sr=8-1&keywords=ferret+tube

http://www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/Products/HB0454/ancol-small-animal-tuff-tube I have a couple of these and my large hobs make great use of them. Well worth 3 pounds.

Lol not that I have sold a kit for that price but I have it on good authority that this is the case

If you look up research into the wild eu polecat done on the continent, it clearly details that there is 2 distinct colour variations in them. The first is a meadow/hedgerow hunter that is lighter in colour due to the habitat it hunts/lives in, the second is much darker and lives/hunt in forest/woodland, so basically their coats suit where they live to blend in with the surroundings, now when anyone claims they have trapped/caught a wild polecat why are they always the darker ones they managed to catch? I dont recall anyone showing a light coloured eu polecat they have caught? perhaps these ma

The One- people in London pay up to £100 for a standard ferret. But the demand is always for pets. I know a few pesters who sell them cheaper (£25) but generally you can fleece folk for a ferret kit there and they wouldn't bat an eyelid
-
The people who breed them and then sell the kits at extortionate prices give a damn thats who Y.I.S Leeview as the One said if they were better than ferrets would nt everybody have them? People who say they work better than ferrets probably can't back it up and have never tried it. Just hear-say. But I can tell you for people that keep them have them as pets and speaking for myself, i would never put my eu on the field cos A) i have wonderful ferrets to do that job he's too unpredictable and i rather not take that risk.

All drainage pipes aside, if there is one thing i can recommend, it this http://www.healthstyleemporium.co.uk/Marshall-Super-Thruway-p/1002z.htm Your ferrets will NOT be disappointed
-
Oh yeah, and I fully intend to capitalize on his furry maltesers too (when they drop) I may consider you for my waiting list for a kit but you'll have to get your wallet out..
-
Sh*t, I think I know who these folk are! Yeah real piss-take AND the rest of those pics are taken from angora breeder site too
