  1. quick update on my previous quote for 9.5mm steel balls . i ordered a large quantity and they worked out at about £14 for 1000, thats cheaper than airgun ammo. i know that 9.5mm is not for everyone but for those who are i think this is a good price. atb
  2. thanks for sharing Jim always good to hear about different sources of bands
  3. I.At times these collars,in the right hands, save a dog that otherwise would become a cull,. well i did try to ask an honest question without it becoming a debate on the ethics of electric collars. but i have to agree with the above statement . this collar is NOT for me and the dog in question will be pts if the problem is not sorted. thanks to those who replied with info and to those who disagree with the use of these collars thanks for your input also atb
  4. can anyone suggest a reasonablly priced electric dog training collar that has a good range and a vibrate facility on it. having checked on ebay etc there are so many models with a huge difference in cost. this collar is not for me and i don,t want this question to turn into a debate on whether these collars are good/bad /humane or effective. my mates terrier has had some bad issues and he borrowed a collar for a few days and says it works a treat [ vibrate only seemed to work after a couple of tries]but the model he borrowed is quite expensive. he not on this forum so i offered to get a
  5. i suppose it may be the case that there are no inbetweens in a situation like this . someone with a gun may encounter someone like myself who doesn,t give it a second thought and can see no problem and then there are the other folks who would be on the phone immediatley to the police. i,m not a shotgunner so don,t know much about the laws but i,m glad i posted this so at least if i,m in a situation like this again and a doogooder comes along and makes a fuss at least i can defend the shooter . thanks for all the info
  6. thanks for the replies. i can set a few people straight on this matter who thought i should have reported this.[ not that it even entered my head] you are correct about busybodies.
  7. whilst out recently for an early morning walk with my dogs i bumped into a polite chap with his shot gun and dog i had just passed another couple of dog walkers and this location gets busier later in the day but at this early [daylight] hour there are not many folks about. the location was on a marked public walkway that passed near a private estate. shotgun was not in a bag and he had fired off a couple of shots before i met him. we chatted for a couple of minutes whilst the dogs had a play about then parted company. it,s always nice to meet someone and have a chat when out for a walk
  8. if you have dropped a pheasant they must be ok for you good shooting but imho barnett tubes don,t produce as much power for the effort they require compared to other tubes. as far as tubes go dankung are cheaper , easier to draw and produce more power. other tubes that have a good following are the roylan or : dub dub: best performance for least effort has to go to flat bands ie theraband etc but they generally don,t last as long. flatbands and other tubes can be fitted to barnett slingshots. a lot of slingshot band manufacturers advertise their bands as magnum or extra powerfull becaus
  9. my bedy/whippet runs silent but will give a small yip if a rabbit has escaped to ground . it,s definatley frustration but he,s quiet on the next runs . so i agrre with all thats been said about entering too soon as he would probably have developed the problem of opening up as soon as he started to run as has happened to a mates dog. i ,m not concerned with the odd yip and also agree that the habbit can develop in any dog. is the problem of opening up describing the odd yip or are folks having problems with dogs making a noise as soon as they start to run?
  10. out with my mate yesterday and got a squirel each . i was using my usual set up of double tbg and 11mm lead , bit he was only using 1842 dankung looped tubes and 9.5mm sleel .[ his shot was more accurate]his set up is a lot easier to draw and hence more accurate , or that,s my excuse cos he,s probably just a better shot than me. lol i was impressed that his set up did the job as i have to admit that i wouldn,t have thought it would. just goes to show you .
  11. this is probably a good explanation. the job looked good when first completed but to be honest they probably shouldn,t have bothered. i have seen similar fence jobs done a few years back and the only way the rabbits could get through was to bury very deep under the wire still i suppose the situation could be exploited in some way
  12. thanks for the quick replies. i was just amazed at how quickly they have made their way through it. its only been up for a very short period of time i don,t see the housing developers carrying out any form of regular maintenance , but a drop box sounds a good idea thanks
  13. just wondering if anyone has come across this before i have spotted rabbits getting through holes at the bottom of rabbit proof fencing which appear to have been created by themselves by biting through the chicken type wire. is this possible ? if so its hardly rabbit proof .or have the housing developers used substandard mesh as i,ve never seen this type being breached so quickly after it has been errected. the rabbits live in some waste ground and the fencing was put in to protect the new lawns and green area,s in a new housing developement but when i,m out for a walk with the dogs there
  14. hex nuts are good and the price quoted is good another alternative is 9.5mm steel balls from; simply bearings; 500 for about £12 which is equivalent to the price of quality airgun ammo. the more you buy the cheaper they are. i know you are asking about where to buy ammo but i thought i,d suggest that you can also mould your own lead balls reasonably easily. ball sinker moulds for fishing do the job and are not expensive and come in a wide variety of sizes
  15. i can,t do it but seen some videos of guys shooting coins etc that have been thrown into the air. presumably a flying bird should present no problems to them
  16. good shootin mate ,but i,d get a better camera man if i were you . lol
  17. if its any use in helping you to sell/swap here,s my opinion on the dankung panther. to start off with the panther feels strange and innacurate but with a bit of practice and finding the best way to hold it that suits the individual it is the most accurate and versitle dankung frame that i have ever used. in fact it is the most accurate of all slingshots [to date] that i have ever used. i too was going to get rid of mine but now wouldn,t . i would take it myself but i have already bought 2. i know the dankungs don,t suit everyone but i hope this helps out atb
  18. do you alter your bandsets in colder weather ? something i have never considered before but now that i come to think about it , it makes sense as temp affects performance of elastic. it may mean that certain bandsets are better than others in winter but vice versa in summer?
  19. that is a good price for 1745 considering its not direct from source and if you are in a hurry thanks for posting i have only ever ordered directly from dankung and although it isn,t quick it,s not as long as i thought . i have ordered a few times and average time is about 11 days.
  20. did the us forces gang rape their own men like these ones did?
  21. these characters are suppoesed to be the law enforcers in their own country so it doesn,t bear thinking about what the bad guys are like
