try using the pin attatchment method that gamekeeper john uses with orange dub dub tubes on his video

recently chrono,d a set of bpr ,s 1745 bandsets and found them not far off a set of double therabands. they are easier to live with as well therabands cut with an extreme taper are faster but will not last as long the choice is yours the fun is in experimenting with different stuff as everybody is different.

Cyalume Slingshot Shooting... In The Woods...
whipbed replied to B.P.R's topic in Catapult & Slingshot Hunting
my wife worries when i get up early and start browsing through the web at this time of the morning when everyone else is still asleep , lol -
whatever distance you can consistantly put a powerful enough shot into the kill zone.

thanks for the info guys doing the ground work now as i may be in the market for one later this year not seen many advertised so this info is reassuring ta

or sire whippet and dam beddy?
-
bought one years ago from vet for old dog with the agreement that if it didn,t work i,d get a refund minus 10percent . so thought why not? didn,t beleive in all that stuff and the plaeceabo affect doesn,t work on a dog . well it did work and gave the dog a new lease of life, apparently the collar i had didn,t work on all dogs but in this case it did. this was proved correct when i tried it on another dog years later and i didn,t notice any effect. so i would say give it a shot even if you are scecptical as i was it can,t do any harm

does anybody know of a breeder of 1st cross beddy/whippets? that is to say sire beddlington terrier and dam whippet thanks
-
i would agree to get on the working bedlington forum helpful and knowledgeable people who use this breed for a variety of jobs atb

i have used one and they are great fun the dogs go mad for them and run a lot harder when chasing than after say a ball, putting some bends helps sharpen them up on the turn also good for a bit of a get together with your mates and dogs even had members of the public asking if they could try their dog ,which is always good for public relations even a 3 three legged dog that didn,t look like it had had so much fun for ages as has been said someone on here sells them at a reasonable price, not sure how much cos i got mine 2nd hand.

it looks like you are doing things the correct way and the more you get the dog out the better. on the days that she,s not that interested it is probably due to lack of fresh scent. my terrier only enters cover if fresh scent and my mates will enter regardless just different attitudes to working. if she has made a catch herself then i don,t think thers is anything to worry about. getting a small lurcher/whippet is a good idea but in the meantime have you thought about using a long net to catch the bolters? a bit like ferreting only using a terrier instead. good luck

sorry to hear about your lab mate your terrier will also be picking up on your depression at the moment. so try to keep positive although i know this can be hard. if your terrier pup is still in the process of being trained then i think i would hold off from gettin another pup until you have this one sorted it,s good that you are doing your research now before your lab goes then you know what to get when the time comes. i,ve known guys who,ve lost a dog then just gone out and got any old thing in their haste to get another companion for their other dog and have lived to regret their choic

agree with whats been said about the longer legged type terriers and imo the bedlington is a lot faster than my fell terrier or my mates jack russell. that is if we are talking about speed out in the open . i didn,t used to be a fan of terriers with shorter legs than mine because they weren,t as fast out in the open. HOWEVER after seeing a short legged jack russell run rabbits through heavy cover i changed my mind because it could turn back on itself and was very fast in tight places where my dog was forced to slow down a bit. as this question about speed has been asked in the bushing sect

this is getting a bit confusing the non ped grew seems logical with a laid back nature and better skin then hear the opposite that they are too fast and more injury prone than a kc whippet. then good reports of mike brown type dogs and also not so good . the reason he,s after a whippet compared to a small lurcher is because he was under the impression that if there was a specific type that suited his needs then he should get what he pays for. i originaly tried to get him to get a small lurcher but because we don,t know of anybody that breeds small mainly whippet lurchers he isn,t prepar

great info so far guys exactly what i,m looking to find out very helpful thanks
-
thank you for the replies he,s stuck on the idea of a whippet and there is no changing his mind on this . i agree with you penny which is why i have a beddy/whippet myself and not a pure whippet. the countryside is indeed a dangerous place for any dog and if somebody could breed a bullet proof dog then they would be a very rich person. i,m just trying to find out which strains of whippet he should go for before he just goes out and buys any old thing. or is it a lottery and they are all the same and it,s all down to luck and picking the sturdiest pup from the litter. the reason i,m doing t

i.m asking this question on behalf of a friend . he,s after a dog to run along side his terrier for a spot of very casual mouching and possibly lamping. in truth it would mostly be a pet. he,s decided on a whippet because they are easy to live with and would appear more biddable than his terrier. his main concern is damage due to the make up of the whippet ,but i beleive some strains are more robust than others. after looking at posts on here they are a lot tougher than most folks realise. the problem is a local lad that we meet sometimes is always getting his one stitched up. this dog

do a search on ebay for ball lead sinker moulds size 1 or size 2 should suit your needs check the size description on the advert as it will tell you the size , weight and number of balls each mould makes

yes you are spot on about stronger bands being harder to shoot and i have allways only used 11mm lead with the correct bands/tubes for hunting i just wanted to give this heavier stuff a go for no other reason other than i ,ve never tried it and may add another dimension to a plinking session that for me is the attraction of slingshots,in that you can experiment with all different stuff even though you may have sorted out what works for you a long time ago i can,t see me changing from my normal set up but its good to have a bit of variety also meant to ask what is the difference beteen 105
-
Thanks for the info Better get cutting some tbg meantime Ta
-
so do you guys think that these tubes are more effective at propelling heavy ammo than theraband? maddison freely admitts that his tubes are not as effeective with small ammo but are the best for the heavy stuff i know tubes tend to last longer ,but if the correct width and number of strips per side of tbg are used will they propel this heavy ammo as effectivley?
-
checked out those 105 bands they seem good value and didn,t realise that quite a few folk use them on the slingshot forum some usefull info thanks
-
point taken about not much point over here just interested in a different aspect of slingshots and was impressed with the power i do like the idea of long band life though as i allways seem to be making them also very heavy draw would only make my inaccurate shooting even worse thanks for the info i would probably be better of trying to source tubes that i can draw without too much decrease in accuracy and an increased lifespan
-
sounds like they may be speargun tubes. if you could get that info that would be great and if i found out the type of tubes from them i could order them or get the equivalent from a scuba shop nearer to me. thanks .338 winmwag
-
thanks for that they look like a lot of practice may be needed to master them but certainly effective the way the tubes are attatched don,t look as if they would be as accurate as over the top or through the forks but he certainly doesn,t have any problems with this method. i,m wondering if its because the ammo is so heavy. do you know what an equivalent tube to 7/16 is in the dankung range or theraband tube
