    gaff you had eight runs with two pups , now there not ready or they would had connected with a few leave them of or get some places with rabbit netting to help pups , unless there fliers and going be real good , at least they never yapped or cocked,o them ,i always tarin mine with ferrets first netted rabbits maybe odd bolter then lamp so they are half wise to an old swishi or rabbit , not knocking you just we got diffrent ways

    how do you no hees a boy ,ive always believed in paying my way or returning the favour ,you go shooting you pay your day ,you go coursing you pay the farmer one way or another ,thats what makes the world go round ,doesnt have to be money a bit deisel for jeep a bag of dog food ,if people are good to you and you return the favour , its always rememberd ,if i came to a mans land coursed , etc i would give him a good will gesture money fish whatever he likes ,just the way i see it

    get out on the fens coursing with some o the lads it will be an expierence for you ,or get out on ferreting courses run by basc if i had more time i would take you out for a day or two you would learn alot about dogs hunting in general

    every year they print in the local couriers watch out for people traveling from the west and newcastle area that go coursing as they steal farm machinery ,kerosene , so every farmer phones them up were i stay in and amonst it , and here not half as much as they put up , police always have alterior motives to get pally or try to ,i could tel afew good stories about thewre lies and stupidness but best left

    i believe the coppers as liars , had plenty run ins they make lies up in the small villages and the coppers listen to any shit to get propoganda for the local rags ,tell them you go feereting and arte a real good boy lol

    ed rd yet to see a good one stopping winter hares or big fast roe with its head down heading for cove rmate when it was all legal , not nocking them just not seen enough good ones yet mate been unlucky the ones that i saw were to muck like a terrier ,nose down and gone a bit hard mouthed ,and wouldnt say real pacy for local land

    ye youle get a few round feeders , at this time of year ,not my seen ,but i suppose its doing them a favour clearing them out , used to do alot of ratting with the greyhounds and mongrel terriers in the early eighties in between coursing hares along the hedgrows sharpend the dogs up ,we had a good few jills for that game ,in winter they had warrens along hedge rows next to carrots and any other root crop ,,hated the things

    met some guys from bedlinton once 19 93 had a beddie deerhound cross ,but it was just bought in and no great shakes , yet , never met many away in the hill area , as four wheel drive was a handy tool back then to get away from the normal areas

    edinburgh capital city tomo ,money ,eastlothain money thats were the rabbits go , i wonder how much fresh caught rabbits at billinsgate london would make , i no what the old salmon and lobsters make down there old hugh fearnley and a few others have done alot to put game rabbits back up there as avery healthy food , alot of body builders going into comps eat only lean meat ,rabbs pheasant etc and its organic , there living to be made being a good middle man and sourcer of fine game meats etc missing out game dealers butchers , if you do it right

    ye you soon get cured when they rob you blind its a good leveler ,lucky i have a good few strings to my bow ,and got a TRADE .,and got a good biz head , personaly a rabbit a good hill rabbit is worth three pound end of thats a fair price to get from a butcher as hrhe has to make his bit and restraunts well see there menu price first lol

    ye time and tide waits for no man ,grasp it while you can ,there still lots about but more spread out had 42 one day for about six hours ,and got a decent bit of pocket money ,average day now for rabbs on the hill 12 to twenty , but if there a few helpers then more , but you can have an hour on the moor and see what else pops up gd crack a feind of mines one bbc chef of the year we do alot of bizness as the scottish rabbit lol tastes alot better than the frozen french rabbit ,and no shot pellets fresh netted or fetched back the rabbit has made a good come back in restraunts etc and so

    bird you would had loved down the scottish borders in the late eighties early ninties , alot of the farms were just grass and a lot got paid for setaside so the rabbits were not checked , so for 5 or 6 years it was great for ferrets dog work day or nite , then the goverment stopped paying them the same for setaside ,then paid them grants to put rabbit netting up box traps etc crazy , late august the feilds moved and the rabbits cued up to get through the gaps in the rabbit netting on some bits ,took 48 of one feild a 100 acre grass feild , there were another 3 400 acres to drive round , b

    beardie was always my favorite of the collies the right working beardies but as a lurcher do you need a big furry coat , up on the hill its handy but for chaseing on open arable feilds they used to blow up on a course ,if warm , and if you were not careful it could lead to consequencies ,the furry bears hanckock used to breed were as much good as a chocalate fire gaurd if not cliipped out and fit on a warm nite sep oct ,but in the dead of winter snow up the hills they were hardy dogs and never lossed much condition ,ferreting 2 or 3 days a week in all weathers ,but in a whole you dont need a b

    you no when your dogs had enough he misses a few he had twenty minutes earlier , when he is having to dig deep for a rabbit his running stile differs ,time to put on the leash and go home happy ,some lie down for a blow some look for water all signs that you should give him a break ,ive never got a dog in a strict regime for cacthing rabbs ,just trot them side of jeep or over setaside feilds or stubble when they can do a good few miles and get a quick blow then up looking for more youll see there fitness ,coming through , if your on good rabbit land a clever dog in his prime makes it look

    forest not saw any genuine good collie lurchers for a while ones that when it was all legal done the lot in stile on good open fast land im not talking knocking afew rabbits ove ri mean tested on open land and busting a gutt then some more ,, not trying to insult , but to me running afew lamped rabbs well doesnty take agreat dog to do that , hopefully im wrong mate and i get the chance to see them be great all the best
