Born in '63, so the 80s was the time of my late teens mid 20s - and happy days they were, too ! Not a care in the world, do as you please and sod the consequences because I am young and invincible ! The world is mine for the taking ! Did I manage it ? Did I f***....but if I had my time again, I'd go back to then. If memory serves, I paid 37p for my first pint, about 60p for 20 fags and petrol for my Yam Fizzer was 72p a gallon - no poxy litres back then ! I bought it brand new, with a years fully comp, a tank of petrol (2 star) and a matching full face helmet - for the princely sum of £41

Latest...... GMB, the third largest union, ignored it's block vote, and balloted it's members........who backed Owen Smith ! A blow for Corbyn ?

Both of my first wife's brothers did "the Knowledge" - like you, they did it in their spare time and at their own considerable expense. Suddenly any old Tom, Dick and Tariq can borrow his cousins Prius and call himself a taxi driver ! It can't be right or fair, surely ?
-
Should taxi drivers be required to speak competent English ? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/aug/09/uber-urges-tfl-drop-plans-drivers-written-english-exam-london

Those murderers are racist pigs, 4 out of 96? Us whites are being discriminated against.... WHITE LIVES MATTER !

Thanks for putting my point much better than I managed to !

Sentenced for offending muslims ? I'm right in the 5hit, then !

Corbyn is missing a trick not having me on his press team I found he's still got a few shadow cabinet vacancies.....

Have all fuckwits got tattoos or do you get tattooless fuckwits too? I've got tattoos and I don't think I'm a f***wit, but I'm sure I've had my moments - I'm trying to indicate the type of people who want these dogs for the wrong reasons. A generalisation, I know, but a ban clearly hasn't worked, so why would such people respect any other law or condition of ownership ?
-
They don't call him the weathervane for nothing he'll be keeping his head down until he knows for sure which way the wind is blowing Very diplomatic.......I would have said he's always struck me as a slimy little prat !
-
You could introduce as many laws, conditions and requirements as you like - the tattooed f***wits will just ignore them ! Responsible owners will dutifully pay for licences, microchips etc etc - Jameel and his mates on the council estate in Peckham will just laugh in the laws face !

On another tangent, I see Andy Burnham has studiously kept his head down during his Manchester mayoral candidacy.... I think he's spotted a nice new gravy train to jump onto, so he's not been rocking the boat, whilst actually deserting a sinking ship ! (How's that for mixed metaphors !)

The law made a lot of difference..... https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/may/28/hospital-admissions-for-injuries-caused-by-dogs-up-76-over-past-10-years

"Big Dave", just for a while, let's go off at a bit of a tangent - (I'm sure it won't be long before developments bring us back !)...... The Tories are just as factional as Labour, but they seem united behind their new leader - maybe because when, the previous incumbent resigned, they had a "natural" successor ? Could Corbyn's unpopularity among his MPs stem from the fact that he is "anti establishment", and was, in fact, only nominated as a bit of a joke, to make the numbers up almost ? Now that their little joke has backfired, they want rid......? Also, given the public's almost

I don't think it's quite as bad as all that pal, assuming after the leadership election the plotters shut up and start actually doing their jobs this will all be forgotten by the general public in a matter of weeks and with the new loyal Shadow Cabinet that isn't constantly briefing against the leadership to the press and undermining them at every turn we'll start seeing some real robust opposition, it remains to be seen whether they have the sense to do that of course... There has been some good effects of all this too TBH, Corbyn's policies have been reaching a wider audience and all the at

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/aug/08/labour-party-mps-corbyn-conservatives-tories-post-brexit That's the way I've read it so far. What it adds up to (as far as I can see) is electoral oblivion, at a time when we need an effective opposition........

Looks like the coup is going better than the effort in Turkey ! Not a very edifying spectacle to see the Party and the leader taking each other to court, is it though ? How do you reckon it looks to Joe Public ?

I haven't Googled any figures, but I'd bet that millions of pounds and tens of thousands of man hours have been spent on this. There have been marches, demonstrations and his mother has been made a peer.....Christ, even Jesse Jackson jumped on the bandwagon at one point ! My query would be whether such resources are made available on all murder cases. Black kids kill black kids with frightening regularity (in London particularly), but I don't see the same outpourings, the same amount of stones left unturned. I certainly don't see appeals for new witnesses 23 years after some gang member go

A little reminder of the "servant" part of their title as public servants would be no bad thing I remember a time when police officers and government officials did always call members of the public Sir or Madam, can't think when it changed TBH, gradual change of attitudes I guess. They still do here. And so does everyone else........I often tell the checkout ladies not to call me "sir" - it always makes me feel like my dad walked inMaybe I just look like too much of a scumbag to be called sir.... Last time I spoke with a copper he was calling me "mate" and "buddy" and he looked about 12! Gu

23 years, a collapsed trial and 2 convictions later, police are appealing for a potential new witness in the Stephen Lawrence murder......will they EVER let it lie ? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/aug/08/stephen-lawrence-new-images-of-potential-witness-released

An African fella found himself captured and sold into slavery. He's put on the boat to America, where he's put on a seat next to an old chap and chained up. "What happened now ?" he asks. "You take that oar and you row in time with drum beat" says the old fella "and whatever you do, don't fall behind, or you'll get a whipping !" After a few hours, he gets tired and starts to fall behind, and sure enough, the slave master lashes him a couple of times. "I don't think I can keep this up. How much longer will we have to do this ?" he says. "If you think this is tough" says the old boy
