  1. Any dog that lurches can be called a lurcher regardless of breed explain ? If a dog comes up on it's quarry, and slows down slightly, and attempts to pick up it,s prey when it turns by cutting to one side, rather than overshooting,The dog has learn't how to lurch, this is the reason why coursing greyhounds dont get ran too often as they wont clock the points up unless they are forcing a hare to turn, rather than hanging back until the hare decides to turn and allows the dog a chance to cut the corner and pick the hare up side on you need to sit yourself down and have a word with yourself ffs
  2. Sounds like it might be easier for you to buy a pup
  3. I know i'm going off topic here, but does anyone know anything about the smooth coated black dog called sonny that featured on the nipper and joey dvd,he seemed a real keen dog, mean eyed fecker, never seen anything mentioned about him
  4. Over here some people call deerhounds staghounds, when really a staghound looks like a foxhound and used to be worked in a pack, the coyote looks a pretty mean animal I bet they can do some damage to livestock
  5. I remember my dog going missing for about 20 minutes following roe scent when he was 4 months old, lost him for well over an hour last year in the tall rape fields he was away after the foxes,he'll be 8 year old in july and he's always loved scent hunting
  6. Oh right it was a good few years ago when I read that book, thought it was just what you called the working greyhounds that you have over there cheers
  7. It was in the gazehounds and coursing book by Dutch salmon where I read about them, think there was a dog called filo 31 inch tts, that was said to have been able to stay on a jack rabbit for 3 minutes with the salukis,do you get a chance to run the rabbits dan or are you too busy sorting the coyotes out

  12. What's this I hear about the chicken and mushroom slice line, are they the more streamline type
  13. One american working dog I would like to see, after what I have read about them would be the cunningham greyhound
  14. i no mate was only joking but i dont see the point if you hav no dog or gun you will only make them shy Nothing wrong with getting out with the lamp and seeing what the land is holding, and shining a lamp wont make the quarry shy, that comes from, previous experience of escaping a pursuer
  15. Never made any from scratch, but the premium kits from woodfordes are pretty good
  16. That looks feckin rotten p w,what you need is a couple of carrots, some mushrooms, put it in an ovenproof dish, with your rabbit and onions, cook nice and slowly
  17. Good looking team captain, the red bitch looks like she's put some beef on lol
  18. Been interested in these fast type of dogs for a while now, never known anyone to run them, and for me my only worry has been, injuries and having to see a fairly young dog having to be retired If I was younger I would have bred one of my grews to a 3/4 saluki 1/4 greyhound & kept a dog back, being 65 I couldn't do the dog justice. Like the sound of that cross,my dogs are something like 5/8 saluki the rest being a mixture of Irisn terrier, greyhound, and if what i have heard about the breeding is true I believe there is some deerhound and maybe some borzoi from the irish side of the breedin

  20. If the hare was that easy to put in the bag, they would have become extinct centuries ago,but when you see some of the top dogs in the forley cup stopping 5 or 6 single handed,it proves how quickly the fen coursing scene progressed, and how much time and effort some of the lads must have put in to get to that level
  21. Been trying to tell my dogs they're not allowed to chase them big rabbit looking things but they're having none of it
  22. What, did'nt even bring it round for you,not worth a light some neighbours are they
