  1. excellent going there, i'd say the bullet drop on the long shot should of been 18 19 inches in all honesty, at 400, or not far of it. but thats for another day, i would suggest you have a range finder if you don't have one, As shots past 250 300 yards are very hard to judge at night.....i've been there..... this is where a lamping partner comes in... hope to hear you better your longest shot soon..... And on the subject of ground holding foxes one field in question always has at least one fox in it every time we go to it, And its a fairly damp field so i'd say they get a quick easy meal
  2. You won't notice the extra little bit of weight...
  3. First shot very farback, little backstop running animal, guides fault full stop, should of tracked him in the scope and shouted till the stag stopped, second shot is good, but should not of been called for......
  4. Listen lads keep the crap talk to one side there skill in both hunting with gun and dog, It's silly comments like the above that ruin a perfectly good forum...... keep it civil so we can all benifit form the site.....thats all i'm saying i'm not on any side here...... SS

  8. All the above, alot more killing power, hornet is a dying calibre stick with the .223.....
  9. In that case i'd advise you to go for the a-tec...........the t8 will only last a few years at most......

  18. considering the mounts sling, scope, mod, its not bad, you could make a call and say 450 sounds a better price, haggle a little if you want it
  19. If your granted rights and all above board legally, shoot young first, then doe, or if looking to get rid of the problem shoot doe first and wait till young come back to doe always happens........... personally i shoot the young and thats it......unless getting rid of overpopulation.................
  20. try swaping the rings around, or putting them on swing through 180 degrees with them then try as it could be this, put the one on front mount at back, this can help also, if not shim them with a bit of a drinks can............
  21. Yes i see the tikka catalogue now has various rifles available screw cut well done to tikka.......... i never knew it.......... saves a few quid that................
  22. Never saw any screw cut tikkas this side of the water yet, haven't seen a book onthem in a while........ The action on the tikka is made also to suit all the calibres within the spec, And spacers are used, another cost cutting measure, They are accurate, but quality will out, things for each calibre are exactly for that calibre and nothing else in the sako, this is what you pay the extra bucks for..............
  23. Agreed .223 for a fox gun only, however if you think you will try stalking at some point then .243 buy once and buy quality....... Have you any deer around you....... .223 excellent calibre relatively cheap ammo and accurate, good for 300 and a bit more.......... A major step up from .17 hmr........................enjoy
