My favourite Hendrix.

I remember Paul Anka singing 'Diana' in the fifties. He's still alive!

Been to two funerals recently where this was played. I heard on radio it was becoming almost as popular as 'My Way' as a funeral song. Anybody explain why? Asking for a friend. I'm not planning on leaving for a while.

I've recently started to listen to Maria Callas. If her voice doesn't move you. Your heart is made of stone. in this song she's trying to persude her father to let her marry. OK, OK, I'll get my coat.

Pisses me off to see boxers calling him "his excellency" and grovelling to him. A little insignificant prick with a lot of money, but he puts money in boxers' pockets and puts on fights we wouldn't have seen otherwise. So the little fella wearing the sheet over himself with the false nose and specs is here to stay I'm afraid

Pushy dads are the worst thing for a kid. Kids who experience that kind of pressure never become individuals in their own right. Thierry Henry had a critical father. If he scored a hat trick, his dad would say you should have scored ten. He reckons his dad led to his success but f****d him up as a person. There's something gullible and innocent about Dubois. He has no spite about him at all. If he he blasts a man out in a few rounds he looks sensational. But the longer bouts go on, the more self doubt sets in. He's Like M Tyson and like Foreman against Ali. No mental strength.

Probably not imo. I remember Boudin Brown saying after the first fight." The car hasn't been out of the garage for 3 years". Fair comment I reckon.

I can't believe the hype about Itauma. Talk about matching him with Usyk would be insanity. Who knows he might become world class but he's nowhere near yet. Chishora would be a severe test for the lad or maybe Wardley. But in reality I think they would be too much for him. Fisher? But again too early for him I reckon. I would send him to America and toughen him up with some ring crafty sparring partners and let him mature.

I first became aware of Ali as a boy. All us kids would shadow box with each other shouting " what's my name, what's my name". The thing is he wasn't scared of anybody. He gave everybody confidence. He just stood up and said what he wanted to and to hell with consequences. I think just about everybody I knew had an Ali tattoo. He was the role model to end all role models. And yet he was an a American black man in white England with lots of racial tensions. An amazing man. Tbh I was upset when he and smokin Joe died. They were one offs.

I must have spent weeks of my life watching the trilogy over and over. Still give me goosebumps. I haven't got words to describe my admiration for both men.

You used to get that at football. An opposing player scores a worldie and everybody in the ground would clap. Sometimes, not often , a home team would be totally outclassed and home fans would give a standing ovation at the end of the game. Nothing wrong with getting beat as a boxer or a team and saying " fair enough, you won fair and square."
-
Funny enough I was just thinking the same. Lennox Lewis struggled big time against VT. Lewis would be in my top 5 of all time too. Stupid really, but I would love to have seen Usyk against Frazier and Ali.
-
I would agree with top 5. 100%. He's been an eye opener . It's not often you get a real technician at heavyweight. He just does everything right. Proper training camps. No trash talking. Conducts himself with dignity , unlike like that national embarrassment Fury. He's been a breath of fresh air.
-
Tbf that's true. But there were occasions when he simply lost it and became hysterical. For example when he had a meltdown and bit Holyfield's ear. Similarly when he bit Lewis before their fight. And don't forget he quit on his arse against a journeyman. He was a good fighter but not a real fighter. Real deals have a different mentality.

It's like Teddy Atlas says about M Tyson when he talks about his inner doubt. Tyson never really believed he was the man who could beat anybody and that's essential..that ego, that confidence, that never say enough is enough. Dubois is exactly the same. Brilliant physical specimen, same as M Tyson.but no real confidence. He could have got up before the count, he walked straight, no unsteadiness, immediately after he'd been counted out.. He'd had enough. Guys like Joe Frazier really didn't have any quit in them. Danny, like Tyson is haunted by inner doubt.
-
Fair enough.
-
I've looked time and again at the footage and I can't see the towel. I thought Dubois could probably have got up before the end of the count. The same as the last fight. Maybe I'm wrong. But Usyk destroys opponents mentally as well as physically.

Come on now that Arab brought two bags of cash in poly bags for that appearance of Charlie. Every little helps. I'm probably on my own, but I thought appointing a german in charge of the national team was multiculturalism gone insane. Insensitive too. Mind you if we win I'll consider it a fantastic appointment. But if we lose at any stage against the jerries he should be briefly tried and executed.

Sandymere.......its funny how everybody defends free speech until somebody comes out with an opinion they don't agree with. Me included. We should try to live according to the quotation " I disagree with your opinion but will defend to the death your right to say it." I think it was Voltaire and I've probably misquoted it. But you get the idea.

Its crap,if you ask me. Nothing like an Akita.

Same .I had all sorts working with me. One young lad would work like f**k all week, get tanked up at the weekend and end up locked up. He was a big favourite of my Mrs and she was like a substitute mum to him. His own mother was a junkie who died of overdose. He virtually moved in with us and was no trouble at all. He was with us for about five years and then he went to live with his dad. Didn't hear from him for a few years but eventually he appeared desperately needing 2 grand. He insisted on no questions. We gave him it and we didn't hear from him for eight years. I had written the d

Seemed OK to me. A brickie turned nurse. Good family man, an excellent artist and good dog man. I liked his posts about his Galgos. Everybody jumped on him as soon as he made a post and called him playground stuff. Forgot the ball, and went for the man. f**k me you are allowed to have opinions. That's what a forum is for.

I don't know what the inquiry will focus on. But I hope it will point out how ex mining communities are now shitholes with every sort of social problem under the sun. Thatcher just shut the pits down and put nothing else in their place. Orgreave wasn't just an attack on miners but all of us. Government are supposed to make lives better. But now they have become the enemy.

Everybody knows what happened. The police were instructed to attack people protesting about losing their jobs. They did so. Some appeared to enjoy it. Some taunted the protesters. The police are supposed to be non political but they were turned into agents of the deep state. The police, under government instruction, now arrest people for expressing opinions. How deep state is that? What's the point of an enquiry ,( a good earner for the pen pushers who will write up the report) to confirm what we already know?
