  1. My vet charged the Mrs £473. 50 for a whippet bitch this morning. With pups fetching a grand a piece I would have had a couple of litters but the general feeling is that breeding is bad and irresponsible. For me it would have been good fun and paid for a few holidays. They could only have been sold as pets as the bitch is a pet only. So why this breeding is a sin belief? I genuinely don't get it. Breeding shit lurchers from unproven parents is wrong as is breeding from stock with genetic defects. But breeding pups which will have the life of Riley seems a win _win to me.
  2. Poaching stories should be taken for what they are.. romantic stories. Plummer and the rest made stuff up. It's what writers do. It's good entertainment. I've never seen a dog trained to push game into a long net and then leave them to be dispatched by the netter. Never seen a dog trained to feck off home. Although I guess that could be taught. Never seen a dog that can walk at heel through a farmyard and then be sent back to noiselessly retrieve a hen. Does the handler specify a good layer, a brown one please? I guess that could be taught. I've had lurchers which will let pet
  3. People were cockling who knew absolutely nothing . They couldn't even read a tide book. Tides nearly always come earlier at night and earlier still with a wind behind them. A big tide can you knock your off your feet if it catches you. It can roll a fully weighted tractor with ease. Same with sand, many didn't know how to recognise quicksand or how to get out of it. They did not even take the precaution of parking vehicles on heavy boards to spread the weight. There were many, many close shaves. Some of the experienced fishermen would flash lights and sound horns to warn others of
  4. Have you got inside information mate? I don't think I've ever witnessed a bloke of this age and experience ever being tipped by so many within the boxing community.
  5. Sea-Fever WWW.POETRYFOUNDATION.ORG I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer... This is my funeral poem. Hopefully not for a few years yet.

  7. I was just going to ask if anybody had caught eels using wool. Blebbing they call it in Scotland. I've never done it but I've been told by older fisherman that they used to catch them by the hundred weight using that method. Shipped them off to Billingsgate by the sack load.
  8. I've done salmon netting in my day...lots of em.lol. Also long lining. Brilliant times. Greyman was on about elvers attracting big money. There used to be a caul on the river near my house. Every full moon elvers would gather in their hundreds of thousands and be temporarily trapped by the caul. I used to take my kids to net them with kids hand nets. They would then carry them over the caul into deeper water so they could be on their way. Eels are endangered now I bet you my kids carried hundreds of thousand of pounds worth of elvers at today's black market prices, back in the seven
  9. There were numerous competing buyers from all over the world waiting for us as soon as we reached shore. We had a good relationship with a Dutch guy who always paid top dollar . He would have paid us on the day but I preferred he paid us at the end of the week. He came to my house...too many dangerous prying eyes on the shore. The arrangement suited us both because he had a reliable source of income every week too. Of course we had to pay tax on our earnings and we did so religiously without fail.
  10. They could be contaminated because eejuts would lose a land rover in quicksand and abandon it. There were half a dozen vehicles abandoned one night. Each of them oozing diesel for years to come.
  11. You're in mate. We need a young un for protection and I believe you have prior fire arms experience.
  12. Yeah, I believe they are worth more by weight than cocaine in the far east market. Fancy going into business? Get that barge seaworthy and off we go.
  13. Back in the day I picked cockles for a living. It was seasonal about five months of the year. It was a get rich quick game and it attracted lots of crazy people. There were gangmasters paying illegal immigrants washers, people who had never been on a beach before and people like me who got gold fever. We fished two tides a day. Just fished and slept. The rewards were phenomenal. Guys could routinely make more in a day than they could in a month. Every day! I bought all the gear. Two 4x 4s, two boats, and an ATV and trailer. I had 4 guys working with me. I had been a commercial
  14. I've just read that she had a portfolio of responsibilities including building safety. But she was forced to resign from that role after Grenfell Tower. You couldn't make it up. Oh, and over five years she claimed early £ 700000 in expenses.
  15. Yes. Should be a statue to him. Staunch catholics do not let their kids celebrate bonfire night. Guy Fawkes was a Catholic bent on overturning the Protestant government. Tough on the kids lol. They don't care about history.
  16. Rushana Ali, the HOMELESSNESS minister recently ejected the tenants of a London house she owns. It was a so called 'no fault' eviction. Who introduced such a medieval law where you could be evicted for being a faultless tenant? Why the tories. Our wonderful HOMELESSNESS minister then upped the rent by an extra 700 hundred pounds to make a total of 4000 pounds per month and let it to new tenants. New Labour. Hypocritical, bent. Same as the last lot. Enemies of the people.
  17. Derek Chishora was offered 2 million to fight Itauma and turned it down. He basically said on YouTube that he valued his marbles and Itauma was too scary an opponent to consider. He says he phoned Whyte and told him to avoid Itauma. Hype? Bollocks? As Kanny says Itauma has fought nobody as yet. I would look devastating against a seven year old boxer lol. But would be demolished by a 16 year old. It's all about levels. Which is why this fight is so intriguing.
  18. Agree 100%. But I don't think his team would match him with Whyte unless they thought he could beat him comfortably. The bookies have him a massive favourite as well, as do all the pundits and ex boxers I've read or heard. I just think they have got more info than we have. It's going to be interesting.
  19. I had a small holding. I thought when my kids were growing up they would enjoy pups, lambs and chickens. But me and the Mrs got a bigger bang out of country living than they did. They just took livestock and the countryside as normal and weren't particularly interested. I even offered to get them a pony...straight out of Enid Blyton. "Nah, horses are for girls dad." Spoilt brats.lol
  20. There's one in Ireland too. Well, correction, black people appear in the town and then suddenly disappear overnight. I'm told Wilf's pigs are fed on a highly secret recipe, and his bacon is high demand . Connoisseurs say it has subtle flavouring of marijuana combined with a delicious hint of rum.
  21. Once punch resistance has gone, it's gone. It never comes back. When he speaks, Itauma seems so laid back he's almost asleep. I think he has a lot of confidence in his own ability and the laid back approach is just an inner self belief coming out. I can remember a few young sports stars who just knew they were something extra special. Mike Tyson , Yamal, even Rooney, who said he knew he was the best player on the pitch at 16 years old. Not forgetting chubby, Greggs poster boy, Luke Littler. Nothing whatsoever phases them.
  22. Looking forward to the Itauma v Whyte fight. Lots of questions will be answered. Whyte has been around the top ten rankings for a decade or so. Has he got anything left especially in terms of punch resistance? Can Itauma really blow him away like his previous opponents? How will Itauma react if he's hurt? If he's tired? If the fight stretches into the later rounds? Or if the fight is not going his way? Itauma's team obviously know more than we do, but, for me, Whyte could be a big banana skin for the kid. I'm surprised they've taken this fight. Whyte looks in terrific shape

  24. Have I f**k said that. You read what you want to read from my posts. I give up. I'm packing for another champagne socialist holiday tomorrow. Going skiing. Ski...spending the kids inheritance. You make sure you batten down the hatches Wilf lad. The blacks are coming to get you. Stay vigilant.
  25. There you go again with your clichéd assumptions telling me what I think. As it happens ,Richard Branson is a shitehawk, I've read a lot about him. But I have no qualms about anybody making money. None whatsoever. Just gimme what the rest of developed Europe have and I'll shut up. Tbh, we are 3 pub bores telling everybody ' fings ain't what they voted to be' and how successful we are despite the system. Źzzzzzzz
