Shooting My First Reloads...223
GEOFF.223 replied to DeerhoundLurcherMan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I cant get to close to my lands as the mag well in my rifle always has me 40 to 66th away depending on bullet profile Crimping apparently gives better accuracy in a standard bolt action rifle compared to jump to lands Also read a few paragraphs were .223 and .22 250 will either like be close to the lands 5 or 10 away or 40 to 100th away As said above between 10 and 40 is a bad area for some rifles There was someonet on here that told me there 22 250 was set at 80th back and shooting half inch grouos at 200yds Think I'll puchase my self a lee factory crimp and tried a few rou -
Shooting My First Reloads...223
GEOFF.223 replied to DeerhoundLurcherMan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Out of all the rounds ive tested in my .223 it seems to like soft point not ballistic tip or hollow points Ive tried Berger 52gr hollow points Winchester silver tips 50gr Sierra blitz 55gr and 50gr Hornady ballistic tips 50gr Lapua 55gr soft point Sierra 50gr varminter 50gr the soft point were averaging 11mm 3 shot groups edge to edge at 100m The ballistic tips were averaging 18mm Was wonder why so i measured the oal of the bullets alone and the soft points are considerably shorter do i started reading up on different bullets short vs long and its seems to my reading -

Ive been using my lyman scale for 1.5 years now its been good up to now Ive only reloaded around 6/700 rounds with it. If i zero it as it says in the manual Set to zero on small and large adjustment then screw up and down until lines are level with each other yes very simple i know But after i zero it the throw a charge in it and trickle it up to deaired weight if i remove powder from try then set to zero again it never stays inline again Any reasons this is happening. ps i close windows and doors when reloading to stop draft moving scale.

For Sale The Absolute Best 18650 Li-Ion Batteries For Torches
GEOFF.223 replied to compoundarcher's topic in Miscellaneous
Aw batterys are best for torch as they can drain faster which is good but there mah capacity is not as good as the Panasonic cells. The best I've tried so far are keeppower followed by xtar then any other Panasonic battery Also a good charger will make a difference to the life of ur batteries I have a nite core 4x battery charger yes there is better but was in my price range and individually monitors each battery -

Tried various ammo in the 16" cz 452 stainless Hornady federal winchester I usually zero my 17hmr rifles at 120 yards tried zeroing at 100 yards but best groups I was getting were around 1.5" to 1"3/4 (good still summer day)at 100 yards my old cz I had about 8 years ago would put bullet on bullet all day long at 100y I thought it was my rifle at the start so I arranged to go out with two other friends to check the accuracy of there's at the 100 yards. Results were not better than mine with and ammo yes there were a few good groups but a average 5 shoot group was still aro

The ritcher scopes are junk anyone that says otherwise has no idea about scopes. The cheapest scope I would go for would be a tasco or a hawke made in the same factory. I have had several of the scopes with no problems. The whitetail Simmons range are old but extremely good make sure it's a mase in the philipean Model. If you can stretch the cash a little get a nikon best scope out the for the cash hands down winner. I have a nikon field master on my. 223 and will shoot out to 500 meters no problem the turrets are laser accurate. This scope with be in my hold until I dr

As I said always on knob lurking about

Xstar or keepower there the best u can get 3400mah a pair will cost £20 a pair well worth the cash. The cheap batts are bollocks trust fire ultra fire pure piss waste of money
