  1. its time like thios I miss having a hardy harris about , hassle free hunting just a quick mooch out with dogs and away ya go , have you flwon them as a cast before mate? thsi is somethign Id like to do in the future, i did take mine out with another members from here and a mates harris, so 2 males 1 female but the other male was really nervous as mine was flying around making this funny noise so we didn't bother, the lads harris had already been attacked before by the female as they were walking on the fist the female grabbed the males wing so he didnt want to risk it
  2. when the bird comes out of the moult i dont usually start hunting until early october as my permissions cover is usually too high to go out with the ferrets any earlier. but before that i just fly the bird to increase fitness and try blag the odd kill by bushing the cover. then finish early march, in that time the birds out 7 days a week except for every so often when i will crop him up and give him a rest day
  3. Thanks for answering bud +1
  4. dont answer if you dont want to but im curious, how much on average is the wage from your job. how is the amount of time you work sorted out, how long is a season for you?
  5. i think my first falcon will be a perexsaker flown at corvids
  6. ha i was expecting quite a few wanting to fly goldies
  7. Well since most birds are in the moult at the minute the falconry section is very scarce on topics so i thought i would give you this decision, if someone offered you any BOP for next season for free and you had the land and time to fly it, what would it be and what quarry would you fly it at? i think at the minute mine would be a small German goshawk flown at anything that moved edited to add 1 BOP only. sorry should have said
  8. f**k me. you would have to really want to fly one to pay that price
  9. A person over the age of 18 may be granted an FAC and may then buy firearms and ammunition as authorised by the certificate. An FAC may also be granted to a person between 14 and 18, but this will only authorise the possession of the firearms specified thereon - it will not authorise the purchase of firearms or ammunition. FACs are not granted to anyone under the age of 14. http://www.marplerifleandpistolclub.org.uk/general/gunlaw.htm
  10. my favourite programme on telly at the minute. that uncle si makes me piss myself everytime he opens his mouth ha
  11. just had a look through your photobucket rickardo, your birds are amazing and the photos are fantastic quality, your a very lucky bloke being able to mix work with pleasure ha

  14. maybe one day bud, out of interest what sort of price do they fetch?
  15. lovely photos, shes a stocky looking bird
  16. just thought i would bring this old thread back up for those who hasnt seen it. best for falconry pics out of the whole section in my opinion. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/105476-goshawk-photos/page-5
  17. dont know if its just me but i carnt see the pics bud edited never mind its popped up now, lovely looking falcon, keep them coming lads
  18. dont know how this thread will go but me and a friend was on about the lack of falconry pics through last season. since most of us have nothing to do during the moult i think it would be good for anybody with some falconry pics no matter what quality or what it is of, could post them here. im on the tablet at the minute but will try get some more from the computer but heres the only one i have on me at the minute my male harris` first snow caught rabbit like i said i dont know if this thread will be any good but its worth a try
  19. thought it had red nape in it but like you said not many are flown or for sale so i didnt think it did, but then i remembered you put how your birds were doing through the moult on my thread and this bird was included on it, if not i think this thread could have gone on for a long time without an answer ha
  20. round my end theres loads of rabbits about one field moves with them when your walking through it. but theres still myxy to wipe a few out and im sure the buzzards will account for some more. but so far it seems my season wont be such a bad one
  21. like i said pest controllers do as they use harris hawks to deter pigeons away from an area but no everyday falconer will. there just isnt any point
  22. thats because they damage there feathers during the hunting season. nobody flys hawks during the summer unless they are being used for a pest control service, as it gives the quarry a rest to breed our sport for next season. plus its hard to see the hawk with all the cover. but most importantly is that it gives the falconer a break. even if we miss the sport as soon as we put the birds down for moult
  23. there is lamping but to be honest nobody who works then shoots during there spare time can justify keeping a bird. they are alot of work and not just like a gun that can be kept in a cabinet and used when they need it.
