  1. ive been looking on a site and its £60 for half a days shotgun rabbit shooting. so i carnt imagine a days rabbit hawking would cost alot between a party of us. sent an email for an estimated cost or even if its possible. maybe not this season but the next. we will see
  2. im thinking of maybe renting a moor out for a day but i dont know how much this will cost or if its even possible. all split the costs between us im sure theres more than just us who would be interested. invite some spectators spread the cost
  3. im still hoping for a hunting life field meet. theres quite a few of us up for it. would be nice to see everyone and their birds.
  4. offer to take someone on here, theres plently of lads that would give anything to lend a hand and have an experience with the hawk.
  5. atomlab is a top bloke !!!

  6. iv got a ttf catty if you wont it mate ,i made it last week but prefere ott. its got no bands on though id love it, if your willing to hold on until i get the money, how much would you like for it?
  7. hopefully i will get him lamping on pigeons aswell as rabbits, they taste f***ing delicious ha.
  8. mines not caught owt on the lamp either only went once 2 seasons ago and saw f**k all. but this year its just too much hassle to rush around to fly the hawk, whilst i was managing it was a job in itself, so lamping is gonna make a bigger chunk in my season this year
  9. im out of the house at 8am and get home at 3:30-4 pm, monday to thursday. Friday home at 3 ish, grab a ferret and the bird straight out and try get a rabbit. weekends are all mine so out hunting all day with the hawk. this year im lamping mainly through the week so i dont have to rush around and try to get finished as quick so i can get home in time to hunt the bird.i do jump ups when the winds too bad to fly and also just drop in the odd session now and then or when ive got to go and do other plans
  10. i thought it would be harder than that. the stigma around falcon training is its difficult and only really for a select few
  11. just had a look through your library great photos the pure whit dog is a cracker. your gardening isnt bad either lol
  12. lovely looking hawk and dog how is it you trained him, just direct lure chases from the fist?
  13. carnt make out what youve said bud
  14. like you say you can only shoot one catty at a time and ive alreay got two perfectly good ones so ha not really i would have loved that catty and regret buying the other thing. why didnt you post it a few days ago when i had the cash i hope its appreciated as much as i would have
  15. never ran into a squirrel whilst out hawking, its very seldom i see one at all around here nowadays. a lad who lives near by lamps pigeon with his female harris regular and takes great numbers with them. never thought to ask him if it affected her attitude to lamped rabbits mind his a mate of a mate so ive only been owt with him twice, didnt quite get on with him. i wouldnt worry about feeding pigeon ive taken two with the harris both taken on a houses wall near one of my hunting grounds. the harris comes over the treeline that runs adjacent to the houses garden and takes them before they have
  16. i tend to find they like the yolk best but dont give them too often one a week as it can give them the shits just like eggs
  17. first post relevant to the original answer. ha
  18. i was always told its always better to fly a hawk on hares after 2 seasons or more, so smart call. many inexperienced hawks try there luck take a beating then refuse them all together, better to leave them to perfect there technique on rabbits before moving them on. dont get me wrong i dont regret at all picking my male over his sister but when that hare does get up in front of me i do kick myself for not having the right bird for the job, but its the same with pheasants and partridge let him have a go pal, if he got the head hold perfected on rabbit he can do same with hare just make sure
  19. if i didnt just spend my money on a falconry telemetry set i would have snatched your arm of for it, ive been wanting that since i saw the photo you put on of it a few weeks back

Everything I'd read in books suggested that
  21. real difficulty, i use a kitten collar with a bell on the ferrets neck so i can deal with the rabbit then when i return to the set i can hear him if he decides to wander, also if i dont know where he is and i carnt hear his bells i will cast the hawk back into the tree and watch his head moving around when he follows the ferrets movement, never fails, he sees things i never would, might have lost my ferret a few times without him. i trust my hawk 100% with my sandy hob he would let him eat of the same rabbit without a fuss but not with my polecat he hates him with a passion and would happily h
  22. get it now bud thanks for explaining it, yes got to give you that the chases on the videos were fantastic from start to finish. i dont know about mine on hare he is only around 1.7 by the seasons end. hes got the head gripping technique down to a tee never not seen him head bound to a rabbit after his second season. ive noticed big differences from when he was hunting as an eyass and now, when he first started he would be right up the rabbits arse throughout the chase but if the rabbit jinked or turned sharp that was the end of the chase. now he keeps high and behind the rabbit so if it tur
