  1. jills not in season yet but deffinetly keep your offer in mind especially with the jill i was going to get jabbed really wouldnt be taking in these jills unless i really had too but to be honest the cage was in a right state. ive already taken the hob she had as i wouldnt have to take him out of season and mess about. anyway im gonna go along with the neem as there are no extreme cases of damage unless dosage was massive and that was in rabbits. besides the capsules will only be taken for 2-3 weeks not all the time if i doesnt reduce fertility it will still cause induced miscariage so im goin
  2. i know that jabs can be cheaper at other vets so when they told me that price i nearly died. anyway the case studies say that they used oil inside the vagina on rats as that killed the sperm and the males were given it orally just type in neem for contraceptive in pets and you can see the research. but on the website given it states not to be used when pregnant as from research i know it causes induced misscarages. regarding health issues i cannot find anything harmful when given to mammals except when it was given to rabbits in human dosages. so i think im going to try it on both hob and jill
  3. after researching case studies on neem product being used as contraceptives it stated that when used on rats the product was 100% effective against pregnancies. also when used in males in kills the sperm for 6 weeks. i really do think this could work
  4. I've been offered 2 jills from a woman who feels she can no longer look after them. but i rang vets for quotes to take them out of season and its £42 for jill jab and £110 for my hob being vasectomised so no way thats happening. anyway looking for alternatives and came across these capsule that are used for immune boosting but totally safe for mammal use. but its also a powerfull contraceptive that stops fertility and the cycle for 5 weeks so thinking reduce the dosage for ferret safe amounts and either wait to see if it takes the jill out of season itself or if there infertile breed them w
  5. everyone knows about him at football as I used to take him all the time before the moult all the kids know not to go near him and the parents arent really bothered by him as they have seen him before. by fussing I didn't mean stroking him as even I don't trust him enough to stroke him on the perch without a glove. those who wasn't familiar with him stood and admired him and took as many photos of him as there phone memory would allow lol. understand your concern im sure If someone posted that I'd be concerned, maybe should pay more attention to my posts. also I was with the bird the whole time
  6. good news today he jumped for some meat and he isn't as shifty around people anymore as I've been taking him to my little brothers football matches, tying him to the perch for everyone to fuss over so he's ok now. he just needed a lot of patience and perseverance. thanks for the replies
  7. on his own mate as even after starving him he still won't take food so I've been feeding him on his own
  8. he was down in weight as he flew at 1.7 but came back at 1.5 and a bit but he's still feeding well just refuses to go anywhere near me .maybe I will leave him alone a while and try again. it`s a shame as he was doing really well as I've just this season got ferrets so the hunting opportunities have increased massively
  9. no idea what he went through in the 4 days he was missing
  10. took my 4 yr old male Harris hawk flying on my local permission which borders a house with trees around it, to cut a long story short the bird flew into one of the trees and the house owner came out and shook the tree as apparently my birds eating all his pigeons. the bird flew away from me and was found 4 days later. however now he refuses to come to the fist at all even when I have reduced his food. his keel isn't fat at all but still he doesn't want to come to me and is very nervous of me. tried going back to basics but it's not working after 3 weeks no progression. any suggestions?

  17. its not normal milk its kitten milk but i dilute it anyway because its very rich and thick plus i get more out a the bottle.
  18. gave him some milk slightly diluted with water and he has perked up. spoke to the vets and they said just to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesnt lose his appetite. also been told by a petshop owner to give him chicken or turkey baby food as it will stay down easier and prevent vomiting his food
  19. found around 8 ticks on my ferret about 5 days ago. so i looked into the ferret and ferreting handbook by james mckay and applied surgical spirit as suggested. the ticks dropped of and left nothing more than a red mark 2mm wide. today i went to his cage and there was vomit which was creamy in colour. he seems to be active although a little subdued could this be as a resut of the ticks? what should i do
