  1. Couldn't agree more floyd. Just out of interest. I'm only bothered about how she goes in field but got another 9 months before I'll see that so just looking into what dogs are in her for the time being
  2. My pups sire is a dog called buster boy of Yorkshire In his breeding are dogs called sooty Sam, Laguna, rabbit runner, And lord of the night! Has anyone seen any of these dogs run? I'm not overly fussed on the breeding As I know they work just interested Thanks
  3. I'd only class myself as a "young un" in the game of lurchers! But round me there seems to be plenty of young uns with no knowledge running bull x's because the harder the dog the bigger their ego is boosted! I'm not saying this is all bull x owners just the ones round here! It's a shame I'd love to have someone to show me the ropes properly! The one bloke I had a lot of respect for in the game died before I got my 1st lurcher! But very few people run real running dogs that Pre ban could have run a hare well! Hopefully my pup will get as close as she can to the real thing as she can and w
  4. Cracking looking pups fella! Looks to be deer hound in there to me! And personally I reckon a more useful x Atb
  5. Strong looking pup that? Hope it does the business for ya
  6. I'd be willing to spend reasonable money to avoid the hassle! Like I said I'm on permission but still get pulled just for "checks"
  7. I know but some of the monoculars aren't so big could fit in a pocket I know the jacket I wear for lamping it would easily pop in a pocket without many problems! Seriously thinking about getting one! It's very on top nr me And although I'm on my permission I've been pulled 3 times in one night before now and although nothing came of it it wastes time I could be lamping! And most of the times it's the lamp they've seen, So goggles could just limit the amount of time lamps n limiting the chance of getting hassled
  8. Do any of you guys use night vision binoculars when out? Been interested for a while less obvious to people than a lamp could be quite handy? What do you use and what's your experiences?
  9. On one plus side if more people are having them as pets may stop people looking at us like we're thugs for having a lurcher! Like a fella was saying the other day on a different topic he can't walk his dog at night across a field with a lamp because he maybe going lamping but someone with a boxer wouldn't get questioned? Maybe of working breeds were being kept as pets they wouldn't. Question us all the time and we could take our dogs for a walk in peace
  10. Can't figure if the rabbits small or the mal x is huge lol Nice for em to get abit of fur in their mouth early on, had one for my pup the other day she was mad keen. Atb
  11. My ex had one cracking little dog great personality! Very sharp busy little dog! Work wise it was always n and out of cover looking for game but we never worked her as such! I wouldn't mind one though tbh be good fun along side the lurcher! Be plenty of grooming though when you got home with the coat tangled up
  12. Ouch that'll be sore Hope she's back running soon
  13. Only going on what collie x's I've seen run which isn't a huge amount but I personally think they can be abit too clever! Seen plenty that will only run half hearted unless they know they can catch it! I'd rather have a dog that's guna do it's damedist to get there and catch its quarry no matter how far the law
  14. Really enjoyed reading this report keep up the gd work!
  15. Not really my cup of tea but would love to see it run! And would like to be proven wrong! Not had any experience with this x but from what I know mal can be quite game! So with the size could be quite handy
  16. It's a cross I was contemplating before I got my current pup but I thought they may have issues being a good all round retriever of all shot game! As well as a good mooching and ferreting dog for bunnies
  17. I'd do the same as chid on a 1st cross purely for the fact that for example a bull x greyhound 1st cross I grey hound dam may have issues birthing a pup that through heavily to the bull side!
  18. Obviously talking Pre ban but are this cross any good for Charlie? Reason I ask is they are quite small so could possibly lack the weight to properly over power a good fox? And there is probably handier breeds for rabbit work! Can't see them getting near a hare? So would think that Pre ban there main jobs would be fox and bunnies but have always wondered why a bull whippet and not a bull grey if you wana do fox
  19. Ye I meen obviously you should use the best that's available to you! But when we has the grey's they tended to throw to the bitch more than the site! We had a bitch that won the northern oaks and various pther things and her pups Tended to run very similar to her! Could do with a couple more that ran like her now! She did have some pace
