So I went for a pint with my dad last night and he said that when he was racing g'hounds they used to say that when breeding a litter you got the physical attributes from the dog and mentallity from the bitch! Now this may stand some truth with a single breed but he asked me if it would come into play in lurcher breeding!
So do you think this has any truth to it or not?
Think you will be struggling for anything decent! My mates just ordered a pup from south Wales as nothing else closer any good!
With the problems that seem to be bred into this breed I think it's worth travelling and getting the best dogs you can get!
Feckingg hell iceman burning cars and shooting dogs sounds mad! Its stupid enough sport for everyone! Duno why people can't just get on and work with each other tbh
Reasons like this is that there is only me and a mate we share all our permission and go together and farmers are always told that there will only ever be us too and anyone else is nothing to do with us! Odd occasion a mates been over I've been and introduced to farmer but again very few people get invited on!
Have enough problems with useless terrier lads that are as blatant about what they are doing and leave earths open pipes smashed and all the rest of it! Drives me insane
Reasonable numbers!
Ye I get that you will get smaller dogs that can pick em up well!
My dad was showing me pictures of a whippet grey that he had about 20" that did hares regularly he said it got them because it figured out how to get them to turn and then snapped em as he cut them off rather than being a speed demon! But I thought that would be pretty small for a decent hare dog!
So Pre ban when we could go out and run hares
How big did pure hare dogs tend to be? is there an ideal height you would have gone for?
I'm not talking ones that took one here and there I meen dogs that when you slipped them week in week out you were coming back with good numbers!
What would be the smallest that you think a dog could be, And come back with good numbers?
Atb
Nice he's guna be a decent size! Ye he will be introduced to stock ASAP quite lucky as I've got horses sheep and cows within about 100yrds of my house on my permission!
