  1. Just back from 3 days salmon fishing on the Aberdeenshire Dee and had 4 salmon from 6lb to 20lb. Full floater, long leader and size 14 flies. My leader was 16 feet long and stepped from 25lb down to 19lb Seaguar and joined with a 4 turn water knot. No problems at all with stepped down leader ;-)
  2. I give mine a codliver oil cap a few times a week anyway but that didn't seem to be enough until i got a source for raw salmon. A couple of weeks of giving him that every 2nd day and his coat shines and no dandruff.
  3. Just looking at your pic..the dogs coat looks really bad. I'd definitely try fish oils.
  4. I think you can buy a large bottle of seven seas codliver oil from the chemist...fish oils are supposed to be really good for them just like us. Might be worth trying that instead of sunflower oil or whatever. A teaspoon through every meal maybe and if it doesn't help after a couple of weeks then a trip to the vets.
  5. He didn't lose any fur...just bad dandruff and it didn't seem to bother him...just looked bad because he's jet black. Your dog might have such a bad case of flakey skin that it's causing it to itch or it may have a skin problem. Worth trying extra oil...other than that a trip to the vet as a shampoo could irritate it more...just a thought.
  6. I think some of the psycologists said that he wasn't classed a serial killer as he wasn't motivated by sex or power but by greed though with a body count of over 200 supposedly then he's certainly up there with the best or worst of them!
  7. My whippet had a touch of flakey skin or dandruff. I thought it was because i'd changed his food. Turns out it was down to not having enough oil in his grub as he gets mostly raw mixed with dry. Started feeding him raw oily fish a few times a week with dry and his coat is now spot on. Worth a try
  8. Haven't seen it yet but definitely gonna make a point and go. Seen some of his interviews on youtube...scary bloke!
  9. I only really shoot at night as that's what suits my permissions. Nothing spectacular but 40-45 yards is probably about the longest shot i've taken and had a clean kill...and is as far as i would confidently shoot out to at night. That was kneeling and off sticks PS. sub 12FPE air rifles
  10. Agreed. Ran mine on the lure last week for the 1st time and they can fair shift. Might actually be the 1st time i've actually been able to stand back and see him at full speed in daylight ha. Does looks fantastic though when they give it their all
  11. There's usually a tag on the underside of the tin that says whether they're 5.51 or 5.52
  12. Out of curiousity...which is the fastest out of the 2 ;-)
  13. Do away with the ring and just use a 4 turn water knot bedded down with a bit of saliva...1 knot instead of 2. Test the knot for strength a couple of times by pulling it til it fails before fishing with it to make sure its a strong connection and the tippet material is compatible with each other as some don't join well
  14. Have a look on the manufacturers website. I bought 1 a few months back for £40 new. I had a problem with it and the fella sent me out another new 1 next day!
  15. Did you buy it new? If so check the literature that came with it. Also...it might have the max fill pressure stamped on the cylinder for instance max fill pressure 200bar. Other than that check the BSA website. They should have downloadable manuals ;-)
  16. Are they not 40 quid new???
  17. Other than that you could try polyleaders...they will also give you a bit more control over depth. Used them for years when i used to fish for trout and use them 9 times out of 10 on my salmon lines. Great for depth control and turn over
  18. If you're using a couple of flies you could step the leader down...say 6lb down to 5lb. As long as the diameters are similar then there's no problem
  19. Its not like its a one off, You will now be branded heartless because " we were all new at one point".... ...........I gave up when I read his main quarry was " hair" . I like some "hair" when in my teens but now prefer smooth
  20. Welcome mate. Best advice is come Sept get yourself out there with your wee dog and enjoy it
  21. Crackin pics mate. Looks as though it's a natural
  22. Might be worth trying a heavier pellet such as Bisley Magnums and bringing your zero in 15-20 meters
