I don't change my dogs feeding at all. They still get their raw beef, rabbit or fish with a handful of Gain 28...a wee bit of brown pasta or rice and some veg. They'll either store the excess as body fat...which can be run off when they start again or sh1t it out

Fishin on the brain
-
What about Gain20? Less protein for off season.
-
It's a Rapala X-Rap
-
Rapalas are magic if there's still a bit of colour in the water. Had these 4 in an hour...lost another 3 and had a few seatrout. The fish came in with the high tide and sat in front of me
-
No worries. If you're fishing the Gryffe try a 7 or 9 orange jointed rapala...once we get rain and the river rises
-
Haha...1 of your fishin buddies mate?
-
Can't beat them on the fly mate. Had a 20lb'er along with another 3 on the fly on the Dee a couple of weeks ago Upstream flyin c or toby is a great way to take them also though

His bunnet's got the same disease as his face :-D

She's bonnie mate. Solid looking wee bitch. Should have some fun with her. Do you know what height tts she is? ;-)
-
Aye you're right mate...they duck n dive everything that's not in their interest and it's shocking that they're capping everything yet still taking a hefty pay rise...not to mention their fcukin expenses!!!The expenses nonsense is more like a blank check!!!

Don't understand a lot of what goes on in politics but I do watch pm's questions occasionally and what a load of sh1te. Watched it the other night where Milliband kept askin Cameron the same question and Cameron wouldn't answer. They should be brought to task and made to answer questions more directly. Politics has never really interested me as to me they're a bunch of snobs...born with a silver spoon stuck up their arse and totally out of touch with reality!!! During election time they always promote the big hitters like education, healthcare etc etc to win your vote...they get in then th

I think ebay has a few different types. I have a number I'll pm to you. He sells excellent slip leads. They're the quick release buckle type where a cord comes up to the loop at the hand with a ring on the end. With your hand through the lead and your finger through the ring you just pull on the ring with your finger and the dog's free.

As Joe says...a length of rope through the collar works as good as anything. There's a few different types of slip lead around. I prefer the type where the collar comes away...can save the dog getting caught up on a fence or a branch if the dog decides to go through cover though as said a lot of people use the rope through the collar without any problems .;-)

When you go out come Sept make sure to pick a windy night. The grass will still be long in the fields so the rabbits are more inclined to clamp rather than run. When you see 1 clamp, walk onto it with the beam on it and with the dog on the lead. You should be able to right up to them. When it takes off under the dogs nose slip the dog. That'll give her her best chance of catching. She will click. When I started with my young whippet last year there were times when I thought he should've done better and that his drive could be better but I persevered and now there's no stopping him. He'll

At this time of year with the water temp up the best way by far is up and across and whip it back over them quickly...takes can be explosive. But as said a few factors to look at when reading the pool...depth, speed of current etc. Cast upstream and across, let it drop for a couple seconds and reel it back just faster than the speed of the current to get the blade spinning. I've had them reeling as fast as possible. Colour wise...if the water is clear, black with silver or gold blade...if it got a tinge of colour, red or orange with gold or copper blade. I used to fish this method on the

scottish borders mate! i hope so! will just give her time and get her with the ferrets come september and let her mooch about a bit more! A bit far but I'm down that way fishin on the Tweed now and again. Try her again Sept when she will be the right age to start. If you're lampin get as close to the rabbit as possible before you slip her and try giving her easier slips where she's got plenty space to chase and gives her a better chance of catching. Once she gets her 1st kill she will hopefully click. Keep us posted on how she does and best of luck with her ;-)

Where abouts are you mate? I've a young whippet that just had his 1st season and done well. If you're near me then you're more than welcome to bring her out and she can see another dog run. She's still young...the penny will drop and she'll go ;-)
-
Well put Socks. I agree a young pup should get as much as it'll eat without being too overweight. Finding a balance is important;-) What you feed your pup is the building blocks and foundation of what it will be when mature. Feed it the best you can afford and feed it well ;-)
-
Keep at it mate. Are you lamping her or moochin about?
-
Mine were the same...nippy when hungry. Just keep handling and they will get used to you. Probably be best to handle them after they've been fed til they get used to being handled ;-)

A bloke near me had a Wheaton/Grey 1st cross and it was a very very nice and racey dog. Think it stood around 25tts. Best of luck if you go for them ;-)
-
Not sure if tripe would be the right thing to give to a developing pup as there's not much nutritional value in it and I would say a pup would need as much nutrition as possible...within reason. Better to give the pup some raw meat with it's complete ie...beef, chicken, rabbit etc!!!
-
Sept when the windy nights start and the weather starts to turn though may give the wee dog a run or 2 Aug ;-)

Mine are still play biting at 10 weeks. When they were about 6 weeks they were biting like mad but only lasted a week or so as they quickly realise you mean no harm. They were also sniffing and nibbling for a short period...It's as though they were wondering whether my fingers were edible or not. As said...keep handling and they will get better. At 10 weeks mine are capable of giving me a sore 1 if they wanted but they don't...it's just play biting ;-)
