  1. Sophie Howard is everything you'd ever need in a bird, like the baby bears porridge
  2. What you feeding him on mate? Only thing I can suggest is giving him baycox or summat and keeping him somewhere warm.
  3. I think most show folk colour their mules red regardless of what they are so if you got some yellow colour yours would possibly stand out, dunno if it would help though. Not into showing birds but I think mules bred off Norwich are preferred and yours may be too big for the mini mule class.
  4. The place near me I get POLs off said the black rock are more expensive because they lay longer, the ones I have had have laid similar amounts to the warrens. So do the speckledys and light sussex lookalikes they sell. The white stars (leghorn types) lay massive white eggs in comparison to their body size and lay a good amount too.
  5. I'll get some more pics up in a week or so when this present batch of mules have fledged and the next lot that are deffo goldie mules will have hatched.
  6. I HAVE NO PEA THROATED FINCHES , I HAVE HAD them in yrs gone by , and never bred a coloured bird . IN my room the canaries dictate the coloured birds , the present line goes back to 97 with little outcross . they consist of norwich and yes diamorphic , bred tight . i have bred from pure diamorphic and the results ratio wise are not has good has my line , the nests from my own line are lways 90 percent coloured variegatedand some hens 100 percent variegatd this line produces more coloured variegated than norma;ls now , each and every season the results have been improved on time dedication an
  7. Beddy parks looking better matey
  8. Its brilliant mate and all because I stumped up the cash and bought another goldie. Got home quite late with him so popped him in with the hen and switched everything off for the night and the next day he was feeding her already, as soon as she sat he went in with the other who's got 5 eggs to him and now he's in with a fancy who's building like mad
  9. I've done what I set out to do, goldie mules, finally. My gloster that bred me my first linnet mule has produced my first goldie mule too. My little red hen I bred last year is on a clutch of them too, she's earnt herself a rest after these
  10. If she's got your finger in her mouth press on her tongue firmly but not to hurt just so its uncomfortable for her, they soon try and spit your finger out and decide to not grab your fingers any more.
  11. That hen sounds a right slapper I've got 4 weaned linnet mules now, 3 about 8 days and 1possible goldie mule the same age. Waiting to candle 5 eggs to see if the goldies worked his magic on her and the linnet is back in with his favourite fife hen for the rest of the season and she will have layed her third egg in the morning.

  13. Worked with mine, they put up with a lot too when out for a walk with a pup swinging off their ears which I don't think they would take as well at home.
  14. Be prepared for lots of wingeing piss and shite and if its anything like our pup nicking stuff all the time and being a bloody Houdini what you got mate?
  15. It's like a real life me, myself and irene. Thick fuckers!
  16. It's mad the struggle people have to go through to get a bitch lined but you can guarantee if she got out some scraggy arsed cur would nail her first time with no trouble or ruptured cocks or anything.
  17. Can you not put the mules under the hen with the duff eggs mate? It's surprising what you can get away with moving stuff around under hens when you need to. I put chicks under a hen that had only been sat a week and them eggs under the hen that had hatched the others and she sat again for the remaining time and hatched the second eggs.
  18. What's lathom like John? I've been there to buy fish but never fished it, when I went it was that busy lads could have held hands they were that close together.
  19. Yes mate, if I'm out and about skinning one I just put the leg over the corner of summat and smack it and they break clean enough.
  20. I bought myself a maver abyss 9.5m pole today, cheap and cheerful and does the job. Took it for a test tonight and had a few nice fish on it but think I need a stronger elastic in as it took an age to land carp at about 6lb, the bailiff recommends an 18 elastic for in there. I'll get the hang of this pole fishing lark, cupping a few pellets in directly over your hook certainly works a treat.
  21. Has anyone tried any unusual baits that have worked? Just been collecting my quail eggs and thought they might work boiled on the hair? Cheers, gnipper
  22. Luckier than the fish that's for sure, why mount it and stick it up in the pub?
  23. Just been given a 6m telescopic whip off my mate and I'm after rigging it up with elastic, I'll mainly be using it for roach etc but there's a chance of a carp to say 5lb or maybe the odd tench so would like it to be able to handle that. I'm more a rod and reel kind of guy but got a couple of places in mind for this where a rod isn't practical due to overhanging trees and another spot where its gonna be easier to collapse it and go if someone turns up Cheers, gnipper
  24. I'm laughing then with this Brittany cross
