General lee replied to Lenmcharristar's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
It's not a good trait in any dog but game dogs eat puppies as well so have working terriers and greyhounds Exactly mate it's just something some dogs do its not a sign of gameness or being a cur -

how many "deerhounds " worked down under are pures? Or are their staghounds line bred deerhound crosses? I don't think the saluki is strong enough for the quarry that's run in Australia the deerhound offers roughly the same characteristics as in endurance and hardiness but with the added bonus of size and How big a dog do you need ? how many "deerhounds " worked down under are pures? You've got me a tad confused here fella. 'A good dog killing a good 'winter' hare any other time of year'?Surely, if a dog kills a 'winter' hare, it's winter?! Lol I think he's saying you can kill rabbits all year round no one cares but you can only take hares in the winter so what's the difference

I've said in previous threads there is a neighbour here with at last count 19 cats they wonder all over my dog barely gives a glance when hies on his lead and if he is loose he will watch them but a little no from me and he doesn't bother with them but the owner if you could call her that said her cat isn't scared of dogs and will often walk right up to them it coming right out in front of the dog must have just triggered something he has seen cats since this happened and same as before not really bothered

Wasn't in a garden the cat was out on the road the husband didn't want to take the cat to the vets but after a chat with the vet he left it in the vets I think the vet told him I would have to pay the bill my daughter is worried that her dog will be taken off her the woman was given the cat by someone when they moved she only feeds it now and then she told me it goes for days at a time it wasn't a cherished family pet that has been attacked in a garden it's almost a stray that this woman feeds a couple of times a week

The dogs were on leads but I wasn't expecting anything on a road and the dog pulled the lead out of me hand the man and woman who came out know who I am so I could t just walk off the husbands van had blown up the same day now they have a vet bill as well I think they want the money the cat was given to them in November she told me she only sees it every few days it's practically feral

Alright boys haven't been on here for awhile had a lot going on but I'm in a bit of a situation and could do with some advice Friday afternoon me and my oldest daughter took the Lurcher and terrier for a walk on the way back on a back road a cat jumps out the hedge and runs down a overgrown path that runs behind some houses the dogs pick up the scent and chase it they catch it and I hear screaming run down the path a man and woman chased the dogs off and pick up the cat they know what house it comes from so we take it there together the woman that owns it is crying so she takes it to the vets

to say a cat is not a fighter is an understatement really, they can fight like hell, a cat would do more damage than a dog can do, i personally think a cougar would be to strong and it would be over as quick as it started, the difference between a dog and cat is once the dog is on his side/back,that's it game over, but when a cats on his side/back, that's when the damage starts, teeth and front claws holding on and the back claws are ripping the crap out of the body, the dog wouldn't know what had hit him, the cat would be on his throat in a heart beat. over here pit bulls struggle when a dece

Have you ever seen a male lion or tiger in the wild ... They are huge there isn't a dog in the world they couldn't kill in seconds ... If you think a male lion is a coward have a quick you tube of them defending their pride ....... A lion might be huge but we were talking about pumas and on the subject of lions they might defend theyre pride against other lions but when it comes to a meal and a opponent they can't dominate they would give up just as all cats do regardless of size just like honey badgers run off lions and so do people from kills its a confidence thing

Do pit bulls not quit then and boerboels are just mastiffs not gamedogsNever said a boerbell was a game dog I know what they are and yes pit bulls can quit but they won't quit before a catA cat is not going to willingly fight with a dog but it's not just gunna roll over and let a dog kill it.A dog is going to quit before the cat dies.Yes the cat would probably flee the first chance it got but I don't think it would get killed. Never said the dog would kill the puma/mountain lion even thou it has happened I said the cat wouldn't kill a dog like that because it would quit and run from the dog

A cat is a hunter not a fighter and even if it is capable of killing a pit bull or boerbell it wouldn't because a dog like that wouldn't quit and as soon as the cat realised this and it was taking more punishment than the meal was worth it would show its true colours and quit the fight a cat of any size is still a cat and cats are cowards dogs certain dogs are not
