  1. ??? reminds me of a story I was told. A lad was out longnetting nr a beauty spot and a car pulled up so he hit the hedge and crawled into the undergrowth the occupants spewed out and set about making whuppee right at the side of him, I said wow I bet that was different ! He said yes it was....but it was three blokes !???
  2. IMO the quickset is awkward and cumbersome and anybody can run one out , the traditional way of end pins and pegs is a skill and to perfectly hank a net after use so it runs out with the required bag on the next drop takes some doing. The only thing the quickset has going for it is that if it’s correctly rigged you do have 100% kill between the fibreglass poles. Anyone think differently ?.
  3. Food for thought Smithie .. I personally thing they didn’t know any better.
  4. You are very lucky . I couldn’t get anyone to teach me so used a quickset for years before I travelled to Suffolk and was taught how to peg as you go.
  5. Did you ever run out with the old timers Fred ?.
  6. Watch how bob hanks up those nets..?
  7. As for bagging Fred what’s your opinion on % ?.
  8. I’ve never used a trammel , I have seen pics and they look well balled up, I must admit I wouldn’t like to kill off and empty a trammel in the dark, as for 100% bagging (kill) in a net, you would be foolish to use any less imo and any more would take a little extra practice to hank up ( properly) .
  9. I think it’s a ocularis copy, they are supposed to be a very good frame ??
  10. I’ve been saying that for the last 4 seasons ? , circumstances dictate to why I havnt been out a lot , but this coming September should see me in a better place and rearing to go.
  11. I’m sure there is a couple of lads on here that still net on a night Fred but they don’t post that often.
  12. Terry ,Is one of those nets Alan’s ?.
  13. I was out doing moles for a Farmer last week, I saw one fox nothing unusual about seeing the odd one on the land but when I drove from there into leeds a saw 5 fox. I was cleaning windows on a property above a co-op and a dog fox walked past bold as brass. I think you need to keep trying the derelict areas tank ??
  14. Feel for you mate but more so for the wildlife that have got used to feeding in the area.. I would def fight this, if you do dismantle everything you can always go up and scatter feed till spring. Good luck mate ?
