  3. I havnt had much luck of the last couple of weeks with only having 2 or 3 rabbits over the last 3 weeks or so but got an invite from another member from here to go and do a bit of ferreting on his land. So it started sunday morning having defrosted my car and set of for the hours drive south, I wasn't sure on how the day would turn out with thick fog over the fields and motorway as I drove down the m5 but as soon as I arrived at my destination it soon cleared up a bit more. After a little chat with chris and a look at some kit, luke another member of here turned up so wellies on out the door a

  12. I looked on advanced netting but on my mobile its the simplified version, looking at the different nets and all it tells me is the mesh size, size of the net its self and the price but I'm no good with knowing the mesh sizes for what I need lol I'm probably better of just not bothering and just buying a quickset longnet already made up! Cheers lads atb
  13. I had that problem a few weeks ago and I was on the brink of getting rid but I had numerous people tell me to just handle it as much as possible Eventially after handling and getting bit after a week the ferret just stopped! Just keep handling them mate trust me it will be worth it. Good luck mate atb.
  14. Right I've posted in the longnetting section but don't seem to get anywhere and people are generaly quicker to reply in this section. So hear goes, I wasn't to make my own longnet but struggling to find 100 or 50 yard of netting for a decent price! Then netting I have come across on ebay have been like 60quid for 50 yards! Can anyone point me in the right direction or put up a link to something that would be of help to me? Thanks liam
  15. What did you put in ebay to find them? I have looked and the only ones I could find are over 50quid for 50 yards of netting!
  16. So after a ferreting trip this sunday and using a longnet for the 1st time I think they are a brilliaant bit of kit and I want one! I read the thread at the top of the page about making your own and decided to save my self some money and untill I'm a little more experianced make my own (once I gain more permision and get better aquanted with one then ill buy a good one!) Anyhow so I'm going to attempt to make my self one, so if anyone could give me some infor on where I can buy a good size length of netting from? I've looked online and couldn't reli find anything.any help greatly appreciated.

  20. when we was kids an ferreted the parks, we just used small jills an waited, wouldnae a liked to think what woulda happend if we went home withoot the ferret, if ye aint got a locator, ye best have patience... well thankfully the last couple of times I've been out with her she's come out fine so hopefully ill have a locator and collar in the next 3weeks just got myself a new gill last night aswell 16 weeks old so not quite ready yet so will definatly need. The locator once I get the two working! I have got quite good patience aslong as I've got a flask of tead and a cigarette lol but one ca
  21. We made that hole to get in to the hedge and work from the inside. The one we did the week before was holly and hawthorn, 60 yards long and with only 8" clearance between the top of the bank and the base of the hedge. that's simailar to the new bit of permision I whent on the other day, only difference being on mine they have sheep fencing around the hedge so cant get get in there!! Any sugestions? The only other thing I can think of is using snares but I've never used them, and I really want this permison for ferreting but just can't get into the hedge!
  22. I havnt got a locator at present but am saving up so will have one VERY soon (bills come 1st I'm affraid) I've been lucky the last few weeks I've been out as most of the sets I do are between 3-7 holes so its not to bad BUT! God forbid if I had a ferret lay up and no collar on I'd have to wait for hours I can only presume, so can't wait untill I get a locator....clearly ferrets was easy to come by back then and if one was lost, one was easily replaced!
  23. Lol that pik made me chuckle tug! You can't even do that in some of the hedges around here haha
