  1. Sorry sussex can't resist. This is her latest, she has done a few more.
  2. Yep all his own idea start to finish, i had no hands on at all. He asked questions a couple of times, i gave him several ways he could proceed, he took it from there.
  3. That's it all finished, he put some better wheels on the back. Rubber tires for road stuff, plastic sleeves go over them for messing about sliding/drifting.
  4. Anyone know if the HW80 cylinder is the same as a HW35? There is a Hw80 on ebay.
  5. If you want to part with it and the transfer port has not been drilled out send a pm, thanks.
  6. Thanks for the links guys. If i can't get a part i was thinking to bore & plug.
  7. Thanks Charlie, will keep an eye on ebay.
  8. More sentimental value, was my first air rifle, been with me 35 years, taken plenty of rats/ rabbits in it's time. AAS410 does most of the work now.
  9. Looking for the bit with the air port in it- the one i have has bee bored out, want to restore it back the way it was. Any suggestions? Thanks
  10. "Strangely it didn't hurt a bit, It could be because as a kid I sliced through the ring and middle fingers down to the bone whilst sledding!! " Mine didn't hurt at the time, happened that fast, i guess adrenaline cut in. Different story when i came to get the stitches out 3 weeks later and the nail had grown over them, still all scabbed up and they dug around for a while with me squirming and sweating, gave me some gas & air, still couldn't get them pulled out, said come back next day and do under proper anesthetic. No thank you.........went home and that night soaked the scabs off in
  11. Spent many a happy day hunting wasps & bluebottles as a kid with my HW35 Indoors used to use my Webly Hurricane air pistol with balls of blue tack, a big juicy blue bottle makes a fair splat on the window hit fair & square!
  12. Thanks John. Yes he is a bit of a perfectionist. I used to have to everything done to a high finish whether it need it or not. But life is too short and i churn out too much stuff, can sill put a good finish on if required but quite happy to chop, weld and a quick grind if that will suffice. He dosn't quite have the speed thing yet but sure that will come when he has 3 kids of his own, a job and a shed load of things to make & repair.
  13. Sounds like a nice project, you should put up a thread on here about it, be good to see some variety. Bummer about the arthritis, very frustrating when you have the ability but not physically able. I knacker my back by 25 so can't do a lot of stuff i have the skill to do but just not fit. Saying that i am always busy making something, still not enough time to do all i want! That finger looks sore did you shoot it with a pellet? A lot of nerves in the end of you finger, trimmed the ends off two of mine with a circular saw once, thankfully didn't take any of the bone, just flesh & na
  14. Thanks BDG, good to see input from new/ returning faces, just seems to be a few regulars recently. I got free range in my dads shed as a youngster, don't rely think you appreciate until you look back on it, just take it for granted at the time. The only power tool he has was an angle grinder, spent many happy days grinding away on old files to make knives. No tempering or anything but they were actually pretty good as they were, brittle but took a good edge. Later had a very basic homemade lathe that an engineer friend of dads gave me......many nun-chucks made on that much the the envy
  15. Thanks John good to have your input on the forum. Can't believe he was still mowing the grass with it! As you can see it was just the back half of the deck that was still in tact. He said the grass was spraying out a hole in the deck..... understatement of the year! Looking at your flikr pics, very impressive collection of old air rifles. Do you do the repair work? Look first class. Atb Griff
  16. Mate asked me if i could weld a patch on the deck of his mower recently, said yes no problem.......................then i saw the mower..............anyways not to be beat i did a bit of paper machete with stainless steel sink and my welder, finished off with a bit of P40 on the top............. good as new.
  17. Nice addition to the tread John thanks. Good to see others still fix stuff. Looks like a real treasure trove in there. ATB Griff
  18. Another one for the garden, salvaged the broken head ages agoe. Welded a bit of trampoline leg on to it to beef up the tang to 32mm. Had a bit of iroko that was as bent as a dogs hind legg so not been used for anything else, made use of the curve as it was, straight the other way as you can see in the photo. Square cut to 32mm and ran the corners off with a 16mm round over bit in the router, mounted in a table. Also did the end to give a nice round, it is just as it came off the cutter, no sanding etc, good enough for a handle. Wont break that one in a hurry!
  19. Yes it turned out alright that one, must admit it looks the part.
  20. Well being a bit of a perfectionist he has stripped it all down and spray painted it, ready to re-assemble now.
  21. Thanks guys, as always your comments are appreciated. Slight deviation from tools but on a bit of a gardening theme just now, made up this hanging flower/ strawberry planter for Mrs Griff out of a broken chimney pot, turned upside down. I have had a pile of the galvanized ends i cut off some angle iron fencing posts, thought they might be useful sometime, welded them up for the base. I also made up another weeding tool for the garden, will get some picks up soon.
  22. Let me know if you have any Damascus blanks going spare, would be interested. Even a rough unshaped one would be fine, happy to shape up & temper etc myself. Cheers Griff.
  23. Probably even get a selection of free blades with it, how they do those prices i don't know, good enough for the money too.
