  1. Cheers Francie and all the rest, will see if i can rustle up anything else to post. Never enough time i am afraid to do all you want, work etc gets in the way! Ps anyone got a cheap stirrup pump surplus to requirement? needing work is fine. Require one for a little project
  2. Looking for a pump, cheaper the better. If it needs work that is fine. Thanks
  3. Guid mornin, whit like the day buy? Pleased tae meet ye.
  4. Definitely prefer him in the shed than in-front of a box. Like you say they are a bit nice to hack up but a good use of off-cuts. At the moment they are taking pride of place on the breakfast-bar but that second one is doing my head in! Try tracing the center block with your eyes corner to corner, side to side.
  5. Thanks doyley and all the rest that give feedback. Some inventions best not posted.....came across this website http://www.spudfiles.com/project-showcase-database/ ..... found it most interesting.
  6. Youtube !!!!!!!! My boy has been watching some guy cut big bits of wood into small bits and gluing them back together again. Anyway after rummaging in my scrap wood pile he has made these two chopping boards. Firs one Oak and Mahogany. Second one Iroko and Mahogany, it plays havoc with your head, like one of those psychedelic pictures.
  7. Lines starting to look nice & crisp now. Interesting thread, thanks for sharing.
  8. Yes that looks like them, slightly different markings but makita tend to use Sony Konion LiMn 18650 cells and new replacements are £5-10 each so 12 for £6 is a good buy. I take all the dead battery packs from work so cost me nothing.
  9. Nice job Gin. Red flitches and brass hardware go nice with the black scales.
  10. Nice job TC. Reclaimed pitch pine piece nice too, right up my street, can't get pitch pine now so re-claimed is the only way, nice stuff to work.
  11. This guy does some fantastic work with antler would think he has the skill to do a stock. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/184019-carved-deer-antler/ Failing that you could ask big chief to tatoo it for you
  12. Cheers fireman, glad you are enjoying it. Check out my other threads for some more whacky projects!
  13. Thanks guys, glad you are enjoying it, just doing what i enjoy bodging to the extreme! No A team training just all self taught. If it is broken i take it apart, if it can't be fixed nothing lost and if nothing else a bit more useful information learned for future reference and usually some parts that may come in handy for something else.
  14. Griff you really are above and beyond us bodgers. TC Super bodger, i like it!
  15. Not made much recently but been fixing loads of power tools. Buying broken ones and repairing/servicing and selling on, nice little earner. 18v Lithium Makita tools are very popular, only disadvantage is replacement batteries cost nearly as much as the tools. Picked up some shot batteries from work and decided to investigate. Getting in is the first problem, they are held together with torque anti tamper screws in a deep recess, too tight for a hex bit. Sorted by putting a long reach hex anti tamper bit in my cordless drill and running it against the bench grinder to taper the shank down to si
  16. First class Midnight, wasn't sure about the blank but you have finished it just right! Going to have a go at pattern welding some day if i ever get the time. What flux do you recommend?
  17. Look forward to seeing the finished article.
  18. Aye pub bottle for me £12 a re-fill and no rental on the bottle. It is pure co2 which works fine. Rental bottles think have 5-10% Argon possibly gives a bit more penetration but i get on fine with the pub bottles. If you want to do stainless, Aluminum etc then you would need a bottle of Pure Argon, I don't do much so just buy the small disposable bottles for that. Snap on seem to be sought after brand so think it will be quality, ATB Griff
  19. Your an artist Matt, it's in your blood! I would think you will have a job to shake it. I am off the tools now for a job as i Knackered my back, but to be honest probably spend more time making stuff then when i did it for a job and enjoy it more too! The shed calling gets me through the workday at a job i wouldn't have chosen but pays the bills.Your own collection sounds a good idea, up to you if you show the world but would love a peak. How about running another one of your knife making competitions if you have surplus blanks to shift, won't have a look in against you but would be fun,
  20. Thanks Biglurks, good to hear folks enjoy it. I have plenty of space, not so much time as i would like and most of my projects cost nothing as they are made form junk!
  21. Not sure if paddles count as tools- maybe more one for the kids? but going to post them anyway to fill a gap. Got given a couple of kids kayaks a couple of months ago, severely in need of repair. Been used as sledges so gives you an ides of the abuse they had. Anyway spent the afternoon with my boy and did a bit of quick patchwork on the fiberglass. No paddles so lashed these up quickly. Not fancy but functional, them and the kayaks completed after lunch and by tea time! Square cut 2 pieces of 32mm Douglas fir (actually 100year old + salvaged off a wreck during 2nd world war, got a who
