Always like the idea of using one of those alaunts as a the bull component in a bandog sure the greyhound would improve the overall health and fitness. Don't suppose you have any pics of your bitch and her pups?

I've honestly never weighed out dog food in all my years of owning them. You'll soon learn how much your pup needs to keep it growing and at a healthy weight, as a general rule of thumb give it however much food it can eat in say, 10 minutes, 3 times a day adjusting amounts up or down depending on how pup is looking

I dont mean any rudeness mate im just curious....do you have kids ? or would you let a dog like that interact around kids ?.......i looked over that website you posted it all just seems slightly hypocritical to me he explains about taking the best fighting traits out of the Apbt and the best guarding traits out of the Mastiff.......and doing neither !.......i can see the use for catchwork on boars and suchlike but as a family guardian as he calls it .......sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Haven't got kids myself but have plenty of neices and nephews round all the time and when

Matching any other breed into a bulldog is just cruel IMO, like putting the local lad that likes a scrap on a Saturday night in the ring with a pro boxer. Wrong on so many levels and that's before you get into the weight differnces

I cant help thinking its a bit like crossing Mike Tyson/Sonny Liston/Rocky Marciano to just produce the most nasty crazy f****d up boxer in history .......and then saying " right now lets start thinking about temperament " Is it not a bit sledgehammer to hit a nail type of thing i mean surely someone with that much to protect would just get a decent security system/security guards ? I like tha anaolgy certainly describes the less well thought out bandog programmes. Personally I think a good dog has it's place as part of a security system though my thoughts on the subject chang

Must admit thats always been my philosophy....choose a breed for what you need !.......but always worth listening to new theories and move with the times so to speak. Basically the fighting Tosa is a fighting Bandog as Pit is put into the mix on a regular and consistent basis especially in the Lightweight division. From everything ive heard and read about Tosa,s and the culture of the fighting they do.....i wouldnt class them as fighting dogs in the truest sense of the word...but thats another subject. Don't believe everything you read especially from the likes of Stratton, obviously they are

The "ideal" bandog would be as fit as a bulldog with the guardian temp of a mastiff type, it's basically trying to recreate the old, capable mastiff types. Their use and value is as a guard dog but I can't understand swapping bulldogs for them, I've always kept both I guess bulldog folk would be attracted to the bandog types because of the athleticism and tenancity they show, both traits we all admire in the bulldog. I know after keeping bulldogs I couldn't stand to have a fat lazy dog like most mastiffs are these days. Do you have any pictures of a Bandog bgd ?.....im not sure if ive ev

Often wondered if that had some kind of meaning My grandad had a Swallow there between the thumb and finger his was done during WW2 I remember seeing loads of old fellas with the same tattoo in the same place I believe originally they were a good luck charm for sailors, something about returning home safely. Probably why they became popular with overseas soldiers in WW2 A lot of superstition around sailors tattoos, my uncle had a rooster on one leg and a pig on the other, supposedly because neither animal can swim so they'd keep him out of the water

Certainly couldn't hurt You might want to look into Ester C too, I've heard great things about it preventing HD in later life when given to pups, not sure if it has the same effect on already fully grown dogs but worth looking into. We tried all that years ago mate with the American bulldogs and it made no difference. Some that were given Ester C and another hyped up product called prevention still got CHD and some that just got normal food every day were fine and vise versa.I think it's all down to genetics good breeding and a little bit of luck. That's gutting pal and you're not the first pe

How exactly did he look uncomfortable Did he also look uncomfortable when he was giving a reading at his constituency memorial service like he does every year? No matter what he did or how he acted the right were going to try and score cheap political points out of today, fecking shameful if you ask me it should be a day when political games are put to one side as the country joins together in sombre remembrance.

Tell her you agree with her and start working on getting her into bed. Wait until you're up to your nuts in guts then start telling her all about your last hunt, make sure you don't spare any graphic detail. Ride of your life

As you say pal there's no silver bullet to prevent HD, there's just too many factors in causing it but I know a couple of working GSD and mastiff breeders that swear by Ester C they even send all their pups off with a couple of months supply to get the new owners started. Testing definitely the way to go like you say the KC really should make it mandatory for the parents of registered litters to be health tested, can't see it happening though

Where Can I Get A "tuff Stuff" Collar ?
BGD replied to lampingking's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Plenty of options for the 2" seatbelt collars, I personally prefer MAG stuff to SS's gear -
I wouldn't say being big guarantees they'll end up with HD, get a pup from health tested lines and raise it right and keep it fit keeping strain on their joints to a minimum til they're grown and you can have a dog that's over 100lb and lives to a good old age with no hip problems.
-
I like the idea but shorter antlers would of looked better I think
-
I knew an old boy with a bullmastiff called Zeus that lived to 15 and never had any issue with his joints, wasn't a small dog either made my bullmastiff x look small. He was from an old line of farm dogs and sadly was never bred, shame because his sort of blood is exactly what the breed needs. I reckon there's still the odd good bm to be found, they definitely retain the the guardian temp better than most modern mastiff breeds its just finding a fit and healthy example

I'd let her gobble my sausageroll
-
Thats why i thought she was mabye crossed because any other i have seen are pretty heavy looking. They can vary quite a bit in size depending on lines and obviously most you see will be overweight, that bitch is nice and trim

Looks pure to me pal, a nice specimen too not too heavy

Wilfred Owen Dulce Et Decorum Est Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots Of disappointed shells that dropped behind. GAS! Gas! Quick, boys!-- An ecstasy of fumbling, Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time; But someone still was yelling out and stumbling And floundering like a man in fire or li
