No one is saying it shouldn't be remembered, there was a really nice service at the memorial in Hyde Park earlier today just like there is every year. Apparently that isn't enough for some though? I guess they want a national day of mourning or something. Maybe not a National day but a little mention in the National papers like the Sun on the anniversary is not much to ask for......................or a mention on the national radio stations Was it even mentioned on the likes of newsnight or Sky i didn't see any mention of it No mention on The Sun's website but who cares about t

Exacly where I'm coming from & Thats how the man in the street would talk not Affraid of upsetting Muslims or being called racist for stating the facts . He called them "coordinated suicide bomb attacks" what's the difference between that and "terrorist attack"? Is "terrorist attack carried out by Muslim extremists" the only way we're allowed to refer to the 7/7 bombings whenever they're mentioned? It's a bit of a mouthful and doesn't scan too well for speeches but if the words offend your poor sensitve souls I guess we'll just have to get used to it And I thought folk on here h

Personally I can't imagine living in a country where the state can summarily execute you in the street for the heinous crime of putting your hands in your pockets. Land of the free indeed I couldn't imagine being a police officer going to work everyday wondering if someone is going to shoot me just because I've decided to pull there car over that day. 7 cops killed at traffic stops in 2015. 7 out of however many million traffic stops across the US. Pretty good odds IMO. Pretty shit odds in my opinion, try telling that they're good odds to their families. What about the f

I couldn't comment as I don't know if it's procedural, cultural, public education or what. There ain't an easy solution. I'd say it's probably a mixture of all the above pal. Definitely no easy or quick solutions and the escalating BLM movement is just going to push things in the wrong direction IMO

Personally I can't imagine living in a country where the state can summarily execute you in the street for the heinous crime of putting your hands in your pockets. Land of the free indeed You do! UK Armed police would respond exactly the same to such a potentially threatening behaviour. The difference in the US is that all police interaction are of that type. I was on the receiving end of a stop by armed police a few years ago (mistaken identity, thankfully !) Rest assured that, with the dangerous end of a Glock pointing at me, I did EXACTLY as I was told !!! Now imagi

Why are you only interested in that line and not the two that come before it? That's what he said. Now tell me, what's the difference between "coordinated suicide bomb attacks" and "terrorist attacks". Surely the first is just giving more details? Why does "coordinated suicide bomb attacks" offend you so much but "terrorist attack" is fine?

That's the difference though isn't it, armed response in the UK are only going to be there if there's a reason. I don't have to worry about being gunned down by the state if I don't follow their instructions to the lett

Where is he trying to cover up the fact it was a terrorist attack? What's ambiguous about "coordinated suicide bomb attacks"? I suppose he better run all future speeches past the THL committee to make sure his choice of wording doesn't offend anyone. It's PC gone mad

tragedy noun noun: tragedy; plural noun: tragedies 1. an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress, such as a serious accident, crime, or natural catastrophe. Do the 7/7 bombings not fit that definition? Can a terrorist attack not also be a tragedy? Are you trying to imply Sadiq Khan was trying to whitewash the fact that it was a terrorist attack? You quote rightly from the dictionary , I quote from how normal people would refer to an event like 7/7 . . 2 people in the street talk about it I'd say TRAGEDY wouldn't be a word used , "That was a tragic event" . . Or

with no disrespect meant, but do people actually move on?....it's always there in the back of your mind what these scumbags have done in the past, You're right of course the terrorist attacks of the early 2000s totally changed the way a lot of folk see the world and effected how safe we all feel, for a long time we in the West felt safe and insulated from the horrors of war and those attacks reminded us we're all very vulnerable. We can't live in fear constantly replaying those events though, at the end of the day the 7/7 bombings were 11 years ago and there's not been a compara
