  1. Not to correct you sir "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils" 1 Timothy 6:10
  2. One of my long dogs is as hard as nails when being treated for injuries, the other is a wimp. . The difference is not so great when quarry - little to worry about, act accordingly with individual mutts
  3. It can be done - I've done it. . I made use of my mother's JRT, at 5 years old he was unbroken to ferrets and now he's rock steady. Now this dog had and still does have as much gumption and tenacity with rats as I've seen. It wasn't easy! The secret is for the terrier to associate the ferret with killing rats, which terriers obviously love to do. I don't think dogs view everything they go after as "prey", since prey is an animal hunted and killed by another animal for food - does a dog want to kill a fox because he sees it as prey/food? I don't think so. I think dogs can kill from feeling thr
  4. Just jumped on the tail of this series, although I did see how you acquired him last night. . I am most impressed! I can't be the only one thinking "I need to get me a mink!" haha that I don't I would have the time or patience to achieve such results, not least your confidence and competence with training the animal - bravo. The mink is a far superior animal to a ferret/polecat! That said, I don't think it would be an effective for rabbits in burrows? I mean you wouldn’t need the nets, that thing will be retrieving them! Haha great stuff
  5. £150 for a stick It is a NICE stick mind gaf
  6. a NICE knife is worth more than a stick ? Well that depends on what stick you've got - I paid £70 for my EKA, but £150 for my "stick" ATB
  7. Never sure who to support in the 6 nations. . I was born in Wales but boxed internationally for England, my father Scotland, my mother Ireland and my grandfather was French. . No wop though which I'm happy about :-D out of touch with sporting world at present so I've got no predictions. . Just hoping for a good tournament!

  9. Thanks Dep, I do my best gov. I'll let you know tommorow. ATB
  10. Cheers Mr G - he's marginally better now. I gave him a rabbit on returning and he had a pheasant over night on Thursday, nothing done out of ordinary. Still scratching my head, odd. . Vet check if he's not right tomorrow afternoon I think. Cheers
  11. So took my hob out of the run first thing, looking sprite and eager for the task, into the carry box and his enthusiasm continues right through to putting the collar on him. . I drop him into a run through, he plods on through 10 seconds or so, when he came out the other end he's like a different ferret! Classy eyed and lethargic, oddly his lipstick is out like he's ready for a gill in heat! I'm mystified, never seen anything like it, he's back in the run now, still looking ill. . Any ideas? No apprent pesticide in the set. 3 year old ferret, last fed Friday morning. Usually as right as rain!
  12. There are dog men and men with dogs! I can't expand on WM' comprehensive post. You do your best and hope for the best, from breeding to retiring and everything in between
  13. No idea mate, but with the saluki coming from both sides - too much for my liking! That said, I'm no coursing man.
  14. Mods remove if not permitted - just trying to help any boys who are in the running for a pup. The following message was attatched to email sent by friend of mine, so I don't know the advertiser from Adam. They just look a handy cross and are priced to sell! "I realise this may not interest most of you but, in an effort to help a Spaniel owner friend, I thought it may be worth a try as someone you know may be interested. Quality of home is the most important factor. 4 Lurcher pups for sale £75. Dam 3/4 saluki, 1/4 greyhound. Sire Saluki x Kelpy/Greyhound. Both parents can be seen. One
  15. Bravo. Great posts - absolutely mesmerised! Love them or hate the, the mink is some animal! Wow
  16. Greetings all. Been off here a while. Good to be back

  17. So the thread goes on. . I'll try and catch up - be back later
  18. Ps a church is a group of a Christians, not a building. A building known as a church is actually a chapel, or whatever else you want to call it. Don't be in the thinking that everyone who goes to church is a Christian, far from it, I call them chapel folk, God bothers' . . Do what they want in the week and bother God on Sunday haha. Forgive my cynicism.
  19. I've got a friend, he loves boxing, always training, sparring and has even participated in unlicensed contests. . He would love to be a Professional Boxer, whilst in theory he has all the credentials of being the genuine article, in reality he isn't. He needs to be passed by the British boxing board of control and via meeting specific criteria in order to be the genuine article. I wouldn't have the audacity to assume to know what you believe WILF, but when I see people or institutions in practice, I can confidently say, knowing the criteria very well, who and what is Christian. I'
  20. I would have answered you by pm DD, but responding to WILF also, I apologise if you are a RC, I'm not speaking of all RC', but certainly of the church leadership and pope, there's nothing Christian there. Sometimes anything contrary to the truth is really irrelevant, that includes educated opinions and heartfelt convictions. Being a Christian means you have identified yourself with the biblical teachings of Christ and accepted His sacrificial, substitutionary death on a cross, the very reason He came to earth. It doesn't matter how good a person you are, how much you've read the bib
  21. I'm not going to hijack the mans thread, so I'll start another and more to the point, who doesn't wear a poppy and why ? I was angered the other day when Charlene White, an ITV news reader came out with her reasoning for not wearing one, I think her reasoning was nonsense, but you decide for yourselves http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a606226/itv-news-presenter-charlene-white-reveals-why-she-wont-wear-a-poppy.html#~oUaAHyrl5oqkML I think the fact that she drew attention to the racist and sexist remarks that were aimed at her last year, she won't be wearing one again this year - atte
  22. Who 'resurrected' this thread!?! Anyway, I'll take this opportunity to apologise to shepp and whoever else I might have insulted, I don't mean anything, it's just online banter. I suppose one or two of you have quoted the pope on his recent comments. Well, the pope doesn't represent the views of a Christian, Roman Catholism is a cult and the pope is essentially anti-Christ. Also what authority has he got on the subject? Frazdog has give you quote after quote after quote of scientists who believe in creation, you'll take no notice of them but you'll quote the pope, a bit daft anyway be
  23. Haha cheers gents Thanks for all the replies and well wishes. Much appreciated - suit it will be on this occasion. And yes absolutely, I would ask you lads for advice on most anything, you are men of world, been there and done it! Said it before, THL has some fecking fine folk and this thread reiterates the point. Thanks again
