  1. Yesterday I went to shoot a few knock down targets so I got myself off to Penkridge ARC which is situated just outside Stafford, The sun was out and I got there taking with me my .177 Stoeger springer. I was dissapointed that there was only one target under 25 yards the rest was across the stream about 35 to 45 yards away all targets meant having to shoot about 25 degrees bellow horizontal. I only had a 4X32 scope on my gun so it wasnt really good enough for such ranges that and the fact that I cant kneel or lye down. the main killer for me was the high cross wind R2L which was also being
  2. The premiers are stated to be 14.3 G. I have no pellet scales so I cant confirm the quoted weight, on reflection I wish now I had just got one tin to try. Mr Mole on here I believe shoots them so he is probally more clued up about them.
  3. I agree with Neil that they would not be tumble polished, I recently purchased 1500 of these pellets in .22 calibre for my AA410 carbine because a local supplier was selling them for £7.20 per tin. As Open season asked are they as good as they look? Hrrm, The jury is out on that question, I too have found that I am not hitting things that I used to up to 35 yards, certainly not as good as I used to!. Mind you I am not the shooter I was, but I will say my groups tighten up when I use AA field!
  4. I will have to stop eating these magic mushrooms your conversations are making sense to me!
  5. Ha Ha Ha, Thanks fellers youve made me laugh, Yes Craig Penkridge is on today, If your going I will stagger along as well and we can be like the OLD GITS on Harry Enfields show going round insulting people I can say things like "Eeer you dont want to shoot like that ! do it like this!" and you can say your own insults! before they ask us politely to leave Let me know if your going and we will meet up and have a laugh! Cheers everyone.
  6. Yes, thanks Guys, funnily enough I have sold quite a few things on another site, the dearest over £500.00. another guy purchased two complete charging systems, one 12 ltre tank and gauge / hose and another 15 litre tank+ complete set up plus other as new gear, I think its a waste of time trying to reply to chaps on here certainly those I have replied to have gone quiet when had the chance. Mr Mole has asked about the safe now so I will respond to his inquiry. edited cos I spelt quiet wrong!
  7. Over the last few days I have responded to Two requests asking different things, the first was for wood dye, I replied for postage only I would send what was required what would normally cost £5.00 including postage for a all in cost of £ 2.50........ No reply?. second request was for a large gunsafe again I pmnd the member offering a safe more than big enough for his needs and gave my post code so he could google the mileage to see if it would be worth the all round cost to be OK. to both I have had no response!. Perhaps I am to old school to understand the mind sets of such moder
  8. Nice set up there Craig, a picture to gladden my day. I didnt realise the grain was so good, else I would not have mentioned dipping.
  9. Your right there Dave mate, earlier this year I had to get a BSA Meteor breech seal most stockists quoted £8.00!! Jeeze in the past I have used Weirauch breech seals (sometimes you have to cut them down on the depth but they are good) in the end I sourced pukka BSA mercury/ meteor/ seals from a gunshop in Stourport on severn for £2.00 plus postage maybe a good idea if we all compiled a list of the places to go for spares at non rip off prices? Cheers.
  10. Sqeaky, AA 400/410 stocks are the same overall lengths both for Carbine and Classic lenghts. If your going for a custom made job? I aint got a clue.
  11. It all really started with Weirauch break barrel Rifles in the 70 and 80s, their imports had "Barrel Droop" certainly the HW 35 and models was imported with a bit of droop on the barrels to make up for wear as the years past. Unfortunatly the Jap scopes from that era could not be adjusted enough to obtain zero UNLESS the rear mount was packed up to compensate. in extreme cases wallies went overboard with their rear mount packing which resulted with dents being introduced into the scope tube! I remember in the ,s being present, AS A FELLOW TUNER, in one Top?? tuning house to witness a HW
  12. Hiya Al, Dont pay for such things its a rip off. Buster on here is into O ring replacements, If he cant help tell me the sizes and I will supply them no problem. would not, Depending on actual sizes be more than £2.50. posted.
  13. I recently had to order a replacement trigger spring for a BSA MK1 Airsporter from a well known B,ham stockist from past experience I was carefull to give the model, series, and serial number and also a description of the spring ie- a single leg hairspring. a small item less than 2 inches long. As I half expected the replacement spring duly arrived nothing like the correct part and not able to fit!. just to rub it in the cost was over £7.00. I sent it back, and managed to get a replacement made from a chap who is a springmaker in West Brom, for £2.00!. I only raise thi
  14. Which will be more expensive . Cheers Tony .......... Should have said will be MUCH, MUCH, MORE EXPENSIVE.
  15. You have to turn the power adjustment screw CLOCKWISE in order to restrict the air flow! assuming you are turning the corect screw it sounds as if it was allready fully open which explains why your Chrono readings are the same. Postscript, You dont have to touch the trigger unit at all.
  16. A bit more info for DIY members who like working on their CO2 rifles/pistols Remember dont replace existing O rings with normal over the counter ones, to do so causes all kinds of problems because liquid CO2 causes ordinary rubber to swell many times its origial size, causing seizure of any moving part with O ring sealing, The 78 range of rifles seem to use Urethane Transfer port seals which are clear when new but turn yellow when aging, Other CO2 safe O rings are Buna-N and Nitrile composition.
  17. Not that its applicable here in the UK but in the USA they can get 18FPE out of them Not a lot of shots though! 11FPE plus is easily obtained with a small amount of machining plus you dont need to fit stronger hammer springs, Its basicly a copy of the Crossman, like any Air or CO2 charged rifle more power equates to less shots per fill. Footnote, most of these rifles I have repaired have found to be strangled with the transfer port seal which is far too soft and obstructs gas flow I allways fit a harder UK made seal which just by doing that improves the power.
  18. SA Hunter, if you have to raise the back of the scope then use shims cut from plastic milk bottle containers! after the initial compression they hold zero for ever.
  19. Java, I dont know why you are worrying that the Contour was ONLY? doing just over 11 FPE??. remember here that as other knowledgable posters have said, -Its only a few feet per second from knocking out 12 FPE!... Air gun makers in Britain have to be very carefull that their products leaving the factories are within the legal power outputs that the law allows!.unless regulated PC weapons are very easy to exceed such parometers as it stands! So speaking for myself I think you was making a fuss about nothing! Thank your lucky stars that you are not handicapped like other shooters on the continen
  20. Light weight pellets go faster so some equate that with higher FPE. Precharged and CO2 can utilise extra weight more than springers so dont think lighter is allways better. with low powered rifles like yours a lighter pellet will shoot flatter but not perhaps as efficiantly as your 14.4 ones. light weight ammo run out of steam quicker so have less FPE at the longer distances. as a footnote, remember that CO2 air weapons are less powerfull as ambient temperatures fall. In very cold situations emmisions on firing the CO2 behind the pellet follows the pellet out of the barrel as snow fla
  21. I can tune it for 11 FPE plus. some slight machining required. two day service. PM me for price.
