  1. Thanks Lewis, you definately should try and get one. A friend of mine's got a S410 Classic (he is a lefty too), and he is very happy with it. I was thinking I'll give paper a go first, to see if it needs replacement. However, I'll keep the negatives idea in mind for the next try. Thanks guys!
  2. There are quite a few benefits for washing and lubing pellets before use. However, it is too much work for me. I just give them a visual inspection for obvious imperfections before I put them in the mag, and up to now have not had any accuracy other than human error to the point of missing the kill zone within my hunting range, but I'm not a competition shooter. If you do competition shooting, I'd say wash and lube.
  3. For a while now I wanted to supplement my Theoben MFR in .20 with something in .177, partly so that I can have a second rifle for the times when the missus wants to join, and also just because I had an itch that needed scratching. The requirements were specific. It needed to be light, light enough for the girl to handle comfortably, needed to be short to make handling in the field easy, and lastly, it had to be pretty,,, cough,,,, I know…. So with the above in mind, we headed off to the shop to try a few out. Upon entering the gun room, a S510 SL in hunter green stood out with the glory as
  4. The alarm went off on a not so funny 03:45. I don’t know why I hit the sleep button at that hour, as it makes it feel even worse trying to get up. After 5 minutes that seemed to go past in an instant, the repeat alarm urged me to crawl out of bed to the kitchen to put the kettle on. With coffee in the flask, the girl woken up as she is joining me today (waking a woman up that time of the morning is dangerous, so don’t attempt this lightly), army trousers on, MFR in the car, we hit the road. Arriving at the permission, I could see 5 rabbits catching a last few mouthfuls at sunrise, and
  5. Thanks bud, I agree, it is a very useful app. I'll do a full comparison when I'm at the range again.
  6. Hey guys Anyone using ChairgunPro on their iphones? How accurate is it? I've done just a little bit of playing, and it seemed that where it says the pellet should stike, and where the pellet actually strikes is a bit different. As I've said, I've only played with it a little, have not done a full comparison yet.
  7. Thanks guys! You are probably going to chuckle about my reason for a .20, but it is a decision I do not regret one bit. In SA, the airgun laws are a bit different than here in the UK. You can have a .177 or .20 without restriction on power (my brother owns a 30 ft/lbs .20 down there) without the need for a license. However, if you own a .22 air rifle, even a sub 12, you need a firearms license. So, I figured I wanted something with a bit bigger than a .177, but still legal to take to SA if I were to move there one day again. As I said, you probably had a chuckle about that. Anyway, I love
  8. Thanks for the welcome bud. I was pretty glad about the bunny in the end, as I thought that the wind would not let me take a shot at anything.
  9. After I finished work yesterday, I reckoned it was time to put my new Hawke 400 flashy range finder to the test. Phoned up the landlord of a permission I secured a couple weeks back and got the go-ahead. Loading up the car with the gear, I noticed that it was not going to be an easy one. The wind was pounding, with some significant gusts. Figuring that even if I get nothing, it will be time well spent familiarizing myself with the land, doing some range finding to store in the memory bank for later use, I drove off. As it was my first time there since asking for permission a couple wee
  10. Tried the Bisleys in the MFR yesterday, and my barrel must not like them that much, as the grouping is about 3 times as much as that of the FTT's and JSB's at 30 meters. I think I'll stick to the FTT and JSB's, as the groupings are nice and tight over 30 to 40 meters. @Robwelsh, you cant go wrong with a .20. I found it much easier as the .22, as it is much more forgiving on the flight path. It also still pack quite a punch, as many rabbits have found.
  11. I heard that AA set their rifles a bit down on power (10 - 10.4ft-lbs). is this still the case? I'm also looking into getting for the missus (and now and again for me when she is not joining). Will AA up it to 11.2ish on request?
  12. I've not yet tried the penetrators, but I think for a sub-12 it is a bit on the heavy side. I've tried JSB Exacts, which are also pretty good at 13.7gr, 615 to 620 fps. However, I like the trajectory of the FTT's (11.4gr), at about 665 to 670 it is pretty flat in comparison to the exacts.
  13. Just wanted to know if anyone here uses .20, and if so, what Pellets they found the best? So for I've stuck to H&N FTT's, which gives me good results, but interested to hear what is out there.
  14. Hey guys and girls! Having moved out of London finally, and into a nice little village, I got the opportunity to go and 'hunt' for some permission, and ended up with 2!! Whoop!! Did my first English hunting trip over the long weekend, and managed to add 4 bunnies to my list of game. Being from SA, I was fortunate enough to have hunted springbuck, blesbuck, impala, kudu and warthog with the trusty 7x57, and many many birds on my grandparents small holding with an old open sight break barrel. Now having the opportunity to do some air rifle pest hunting here is absolutely awesome!!
