  1. Could be the previous owner has fitted a too tight 0 ring, on the mag I would check that first, maybe the notchy indexing is caused by the pawl lifting being out slightly, As Buster has said hese pretty close to you and offered to sort it. Cheers.
  2. Well thank you friends, for your kind responses to my amature posts, the friends who know me and my dear wifes ailments and the mile round trip hospital visits are a bit of a bind for us every two weeks or so but I love my wife more than life itself. so its all good. So thank you guys for your comments. Old Ron. (Tron Awoke at 6.35am, late for me, I dont normally have a lie in but I was p****d last night.
  3. Whats going on? A bit sad when someone takes offence at obvious banter and chucks their dummy out the pram. I am shutting down for tonight as I said earlier Me and my Dear wife have been married 44 years today. G,nite all. Ron. OOPS , posted seconds after Simon. Thanks very much for your kind comments Simon my friend . G,nite. Ron.
  4. Stick in there Ghillie mate, its no fun when you cant do what what was effortless in the years you had your health and strength. Roll on to better days mate. ATB, Ron.
  5. You are right on that one Ghillies, I have extreme difficulty in getting back to my feet after lying down to take some shots, I am still recovering after 2 big heart operations the last one this year.I am no longer alas the shooter I was when I was a international and shot for my country. In those days I could pull off shots that seemed impossible. all my yesterdays now I am afraid. as I am now a coffin dodger!
  6. Well said Simon, My wife was hearing me laughing at some of the cruel banter being expressed on here and on clocking your avatar said--Whoes that chap with the shades? Its not David Soul is it? No joke. Methinks another visit back to Specsavers for her!! Only joking Bud. Me and my wife have been married 44 years today. and I am sinking a few tinnies in celebration. Cheers everyone. Ron.
  7. Well your far too good a shot for me, the furthest rabbits I have shot has been at a measured 54 yards plenty more up to 40 yards plus. all though by me having a handy tree or fence to steady my rifle. a few pigeons at 60 yards plus. again all with a 23FPE pc rifle. I would pay £100 cash to see you hit a woodie at 200 yards with one shot, and I bet plenty more on here would pay to see you do it. I couldnt I am afraid even with 23FPE to play with. Hey ghillies heres your chance to make a bit of extra Xmas money, you hit a woodie at 200 yards and you win the £100. miss it! and you pay me the
  8. Ive had rimfires, shotguns, and FAC airweapons for many years and would never attempt to shoot rabbits at 100 yards with a FAC air rifle because it would only be luck for a pellet to hit it in a kill area. your preferance for a 40FPE rifle even over 70 yards would require 13.5 inches holdover I havent the figures for holdover at 100 yards allthough a .22 21G pellet travelling at 950 FPS would be pushing out 42.09 FPE would certainly have enough retained energy to kill a rabbit at 100 yards. Holdover would probally be in excess of 18 inches. I would think that at that range more rabbits would
  9. Who said anyone was missing at 35 yards? where did anyone talk of hitting at 100 yards? are you reading the op at all?
  10. Just been musing about the pros and cons of sub 12 .177 or .22 FAC. is it worth the hassle of going for a sec 1 ticket? Remember once granted as long as the ground is safe enough you can have a rimfire on the land.. but lets have a look at the figures for what kind of variables are shown at 35 yards shooting a .177 sub 12fpe shooting a 8.0 G pellet at 800 fps, which is doing 11.38 FPE. a .22 FAC shooting a 16G pellet at 800 FPS which is doing..........22.38FPE. Now then at 35 yards the .177 is doing 650fps for a 7.5 FPE total. At 35 yards the .22 is doing 690 fp
  11. I think, having owned many guns over the years both sub 12 FPE and FAC rifles I loved .22 FAC Air Weapon guns simply because of the .177 type of trajectory given plus of course the knowlenge that when the quarry was hit it was hit with more than enough FPE to do the job. I never attempted to shoot quarry beyond 40 yards and have done endless stalkes to get within 35 yards only to have whatever I had spent time crawling to get nearer to have run or fly off!! As pianoman rightly observed accuracy is the most important part of a rifle plus of course the skill to use it! Having said that
  12. Excellent shooting , especially from "Scarlet O'hara" no doubt she will be kicking ass very shortly Interesting to see pianoman shoots left handed but wears his watch on his left wrist has he got a left master eye? Davy is correct, he has indeed lost his porno chops! my good wife says he looks much younger! I must get her down to the opticians later today. Glad I wasnt shooting " Scarlet." oops I mean Helen, would have kicked my backside, Hrmm, Deep gloom!
  13. There is no UK sourced set triggered air rifle to be obtained in the UK (To my knowledge) probally the finest foolproof trigger is the HW Rekord trigger fitted in most of the HW springers, which can be set very, very close to the release settings of a set trigger.such settings means it really is a "Hair trigger release" with no first travel.
  14. Thanks for the heads up Gaz, I enjoyed the vid, Cheers.
  15. Well I emailed the shop Saturday pointing out their price quoted was wrong. they have replied today saying they quoted that price because it was out of stock! DURH. and they would correct it when new stock was available. Seems to me anyone checking their prices is hardly going to hang on to buy from there when they can save £100 quid by shopping elswhere.
  16. Well Gaz its up to you but the only extra rail you will obtain by removing the pin is 6m/m if you must remove it you need only to grasp it with a pair of pliers and twist it out. Dont file it as you will probally scar the rail in that area and devalue your rifle somewhat. cheers,
  17. NO, dont touch it E Fudd .Personally I find it a great reset position when reataching my scope and roll off mounts after any maintainance. if its in the way of your scope mounts then maybe you should try a different scope or mounts.
  18. Hrrm, I dunno Mike, drag coefficient depends on many different things,Projectile shape, Altitude, weather IE damp, dry,hot cold temperature,! the list is quite comprensive remember here that unless you investigate deeply all the above instances are variable, is the projectile as stated in your opening thesis? is the velocity on each shot stable from shot to shot??does humidity change over the test cycle??. I give up! Nurse, Nurse! can I have my medication please!!
  19. Good choice Porky, that scope is being sold by Ramsbottoms for £45.00 with free mounts thrown.in!. a fiver postage and a super set up for £50quid.
  20. Just been on fleebay looking at rifle scopes.a shop on there is advertising a well known 4X12X50 PA scope and mounts for £143.00. the same make scope is advertised by Ramsbottoms for £45.95. Just shows its so easy to get ripped off,Jeeze! only £100.00 more
  21. I can see where your coming from there Rob, I sold a as new R10 last january to "fire****" over on agf for £550.his spelling was as bad as the Graham bros. it was the first time I had been paid through bank transfer and I too had a squeaky backside untill I saw he was a honest buyer. but certainly there is a lot of crooks out there and we have to be carefull.
  22. thanks like the r10 but a bit out of my price range at the minute The BSA range allthough excellent are pretty difficult to strip and service compared to the Air Arms 400/410 series, I had a R10 and a Scultra, and although fine rifles not to be recomended for owners with no mechanical knowledge.to do DIY after many, many years of owning most types of spring and PC rifles, the first one I pick up for vermin shootig is a AA400 .22 Carbine. nice and lightish easy to carry, have a couple of AA 410,s but if you miss with one shot the quarry has gone before you can crank another pellet into the
