  1. ive ran hares on the lamp i think if there run regular you get some excellent sport ,i dont think its for failed daytime dogs ,yes they do make the odd mistakes but all lamped quarry does , they can still test a dog if given enough lead ,and lamp shy hares do go like joe fxxk they still know where the exits are in the field when under pressure
  2. 1st lurcher i owned was a lurcher to lurcher x (deerhound x 2nd or 3rd generation X beddy grey/deerhound grey ) she was a smooth coated blue bitch stood only 23 " tts and was a decent deer dog 1996 ish she never came into season i would of loved to keep the line going ,a fiery little bitch took fox at 1 yr old and hated cats lol most lurchers will chase deer if allowed ,went lamping with this bitch and my other lurcher sal/greyx bull/grey own them lines roughly and took deer regular but one night saw this deer arse end like a bull (to this day not sure of the species a stray never saw it ag
  3. ive had the trap set with hens eggs for over a week before ive put in the magpie why did nt the stoat or rat take the eggs ??????????????????????? im gonna set a live trap up near it whats a tempting bait for such mammals thanks for the replies

  5. just been to check on my magpie call bird and found it been eaten ,no pics but neck eaten right down to the back head left on but its arse eaten out and guts gone???(breast left alone ) its been in the trap overnight ,the larsen is made from chicken mesh should i re new it with smaller mesh ??? what do you thinks attacked it and eaten it ????????? any tips please i only do this for our syndicate and not a full time keeper ,i would phone a keeper but mobile in for repair cheers gibbo

  8. poor numbers of rabbits for the last 7 yrs , mixi etc used to shoot well into 30 s and some times 50 s even with lurchers had some good nights no i go lamping with dog for fresh air ,the mixi / rhd may have struck here as the rabbits have just died overnight ie no suffering where you pick the odd ones up on footpaths etc as for foxes they ve buggered of due to lack of rabbits around the wind bushes ,used to have at least 2 breeds off a yr ?????

  10. my bitch was a puppy ish till she was 15 months ,i entered her at 11 months on bunnies because she was following the beam really well ,she sulked she was stubborn a frigging mare for a while ,i made phone calls emailed lads because im not patient in any way but bit my tongue took the advice now shes ok and does ok for me yes frustrating waiting for an age s ive had lurcher to lurcher and used them at a yr old old pre ban in 1996/97 yes good fun had injuries but it doesnt hurt to hold them back does it , i got good information on the deer hound 1st x yes a handy x but no way a world beater ye

  17. i e mailed bill regarding her looks from old stuff ie axle etc he and some one else said no diff ear, head shape ect i thought they looked similiar but who am i lol racey type , good speed, stamina not proven as a all rounder hates feretts lol but im happy like i said we all cant have the creme de la creme

  19. not sure if trev will have any 1st xs on in near future but he has a 3/4 deer 1/4 grey on the floor now heres a pic of his last litter of 1st x s people have still got these because there ok some have been disappointed so sold them on mine has done ok for me ,not had a shot n retrieved fox yet but soon this spring ,2 yrs now so about right i know there totally diff from bull xs im in no rush to give up on her yet
  20. just a quick post a syndicate member of ours bought 100 grey partridges last year out of his own pocket to re-establish them around our area and he's about to do the same this year another 100 birds is anyone out there giving grants or helping towards hedging etc etc to keep the native species well established,???????????? any comments or inks would be much appreciated ,he does nt know im doing this i was gong to suprise him if theres any chance of a little help off any organisations thanks gibbo
  21. im using a4x16x50 mtc taipan on this rifle and same size but in a viper on the on the .17 hmr ive not used it on the .17 yet as the rabbit population is so low its hard to find work even for my deerhoundXgreyhound long dog its a sad state of affairs really in my neck of the woods
