having seen my post about the greyhound pup , with all these government movements, restrictions and possible vet movements . what can be done to purchase the pup ie pick up , jabs , microchipping etc , will vets jab and chip or emergencies only ,do they class jabbing essential as for disease purposes ? also will I be able to travel or not (gamble on going ?) breeders will want the pups away asap as a litter every extra week at home will cost them a great deal more ?? any ideas or experience in this matter over the last 2 weeks cheers ,,,gibbo

pure greyhound as a steady worker??
gibbo1973 replied to gibbo1973's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
thanks for all your comments very much appreciated , im deffo going for a pup as I stated ive always loved them and the breeding is good with wind in their lungs , she will be raise as a lurcher in the same way as I always do basics 1st ,stock breaking ,everyday obstacles , entering when seems right ,I never rush them ,it will be lightly worked as theres not a vast amount of game around ,as for breeding from her that ll be years down the line if I see fit , hope your all safe and well stay indoors atb gibbo -

before I get slated and say why do it there a load a shit and always injured ,I am in the process of purchasing one for a few reasons , 1/ my parents and grandad had them when we were kids racing and coursing ,mostly racing so ive always fancied one for light work as around here game is limited ,2/ ive had a first cross deerhound /grey and was hoping if I can get her to a reasonable standard and stay fit to breed my own knowing the pups will be from working stock , the pure greyhound will be brought up like I have done with all my dogs ie field craft common sense stuff ie age of training age

my lurcher sometimes rags the hell out of my lab ,the other day I noticed his ear really swollen looking like a balloon, ive drained it with a shringe needle and got it nearly empty(blood) ,then 2 days later it filled again(blood) again I drained it off gave him some loxicom and some antibiotics ,today is working its way up again?????? do I keep draining it or a trip to the vets ,I thought if shes burst a blood vessel in his ear it would of stopped by now or it is something more nasty no swelling around his head etc just his ear cheers gibbo

Anyone Use The Nm 800 For Lamping With Dogs
gibbo1973 replied to slipper's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I bought one for lamping with the dog and I found the beam too tight n missed a hell of a lot of bunnies even tried with flood settings but you lose the distance ,ive bought both heads and both leds find it the ideal rifle lamp but not dog lamp, went back to my clulite and picked up rabbits again no bother -

3 weekly dosing of cider vinegar and different hens 12 eggs out of 16 hens not sure if the vinegar and garlic is a coincidence but within days got eggs and within a week or so a lot of eggs cant grumble

read your pm and sent one back like I said mines from November and no scar or scab just a bit close to the bone lack of cushion imo ran around the fields full pelt after the lab as its been raining here im going to apply one remedy at a time over 2 weeks and see which makes the diff plenty of road work shortly now the nights are open out too
-
its healed now with no scab just lacks padding between healed skin and bone now i'll try to get a pic up inday or two
-
hi tomo her skin is ok it doesn't help when the farmer put one bar tight bit of wire across a hole in a hedge what she runs or passes thru everytime I go for a walk and one day a big rabbit got up and full pelt thru hedge as per normal with devastating results on her front leg, she never screamed and just casually trotted but to me not limping at all pity I never took a picture but I rushed her to the vets now at 4 and half I also think she runs with her brain rather than sheer speed ???

my dhxgh holly as posts you've seen of her has had a toe amputated(rh foot inside toe ) n don't get me wrong I thought and vet thought its best to remove 2 digits as the toe was so badly dislocated and basically parallel with other bon in same foot so just skin holding it on . I agreed and went ahead ,It got infected after surgery and popped the stitches I cleaned with salt an healed fine that was last nov there wasn't much flesh to scab over so took its time now its heeled shes a bit to say the least steady on it had a few long runs only for her to pull up at 1st obstacle ie fence hedge
