  5. When clay is wet theres not a lot you can do. Fork, spade whatever, just take a trowel to clean it now and then.
  6. its just good manners to contact hunt secretary..you can find most hunt details online or from someone on here probably. Ive found them always friendly...dont be put off by posh accents off some of the followers, they cant help it ..people are people, treat them as you find them I say.
  7. same here.I prefer books about dogs not who owns them.I sold mine on .Nothing against John Broadhurst...good luck to him and there show.
  8. . Yeh line breed not go over the top and make some big deal over genetics lol. Its not rocket sience. Make my self look big lol read your posts On genetics lol. Ive never even said I owned a dog on any of my posts. I have made no claims about any dog ive bred or any acheivments on my part. Everything Ive said was in responce to a hyperthetical question that was the origional topic(long forgotten thanks to you) Its you who took it personal and started challenging to see breeding proof and results, but when you get an invite from a bloke to do just that you back out rather quickly..No body has
  9. Your opinion is breed worker to unrelated worker and hope what you keep works. Fine thats your opinion, but why do you try to rubbish what other people say for the sake of it. I think I know.
  10. WHY IRISH MATE? I JUST THINK IRISH GREYHOUNDS ARE A LOT BETTER OR WORKING AND FOR BREEDING FROM English were hardier if not as fast.
  11. . Ill pm you the terrier police will read these and berate you for breaking the Terrier breeding code. And condem you to Chancer hell. Now we wouldnt want that would we when name dropping goes wrong eh
  12. Never had a good one off Ken but I know he has bred some. He had a litter with some black and some white all smooth,he joked half are Russell and half are Patts. At least i think he was joking...
  13. What a load of shit to be honest .Written by an obvious chancer in the game .Terriers have no set standards ffs.To be expect from lads that breed this to that i suppose .Last time i will bang on about lines as its getting a bit boring for me as well. There has to be a standard in a line or there is no line ,pedigrees arnt solely the placement of breeds or standards its a type that conforms to an idea and breeds true to type .Size ,form, colour ,temperament ,work are all genetic ,to call it anything else is to admit very little understanding .Its no wonder some lads refuse to post on here wit
  14. All domestic dogs and there uses were created by man by manipulating heredity and so influencing genotype. Inbreeding is used to great advantage to save time producing shape and behavior including gameness and blind determination..If you breed domestic stock you are dealing in genetics wether you understand it or not..
  15. Its a lot more complex I know, but you can get good results with the basics..sheep cattle, dogs, They can all be altered for good or bad,but continual outcrossing will never strengthen, purify or as FD says set genes to produce consistantly good stock. Physical or mental traits are fixed this way.Have a look at Gregor Mendel and his ratio 1.2.1 It doesnt have to be that much of a gamble. When you breed in and in you can put the odds in your own favour,as long as you cull along the way.
  16. You can get rid of any fault by in breeding even if both of your origional stock have the fault, but you do have to cull without question,to purefy the genes. I always try to remember that genes from both parents divide and rejoin randomly to form whole genes again in the offspring. This is simplifying it but its easier to understand. If you think of a gene as being a whole thing but made up of two parts. It can be DD double dominant, DR Dominant/recessive or RR double recessive. Thats how you can breed together two dogs that both express eg, determination but neither are pure DD for that trai

  18. I knew a bloke who only wormed his dog once as an adult in 15 years and it didnt have worms when it died. I do mine twice a year autumn/spring and never see a worm..They are fed on 70% meat.
  19. . Oh so because i dont agree with the genetical theory i just lie down lol. Evolution and instinct make terriers work not genes genes improve or defects in the make up of the body of living creatures. Simplifying such a complicated. Subject. And its importance in living creatures. Is a bit foolish to say the least. Do genetics make homing pigeons return home no instinct does but the right genes make them fly faster , The working trait and selective breeding will help in the search For the working trait the instict to hunt is evolutionaryI think you will find that the Domesticated Dog has been
