  1. was always Hähnchen when i lived there  That means 'little chicken'. Anything ending 'chen' indicates the diminutive form, eg Maedchen (where the heck is the umlaut?) means little girl, or in modern parlance just 'girl', from the original 'Maed'. And don't even get me started on Valenzgrammatik! or asparagus and fried eggs - now there's a tongue twister Easy peasy for a cunning linguist Spargel und Eier- lecker lecker!
  2. Technique? I find having the none-trigger hand in a secure location by the trigger guard works best, elbows solidly planted and allowing the bipod to take the weight of the front of the rifle. Remember to keep your breathing and follow-thru technique consistent. Are you allowing the barrel to cool between shots? After a while and a few shots in fairly rapid succession, the barrel warms up and expands, resulting in the bullet being a looser fit in the barrel and groups opening up as a consequence. 3 shots, then a couple of minutes rest seems to prevent this. Of course, if you've a dirty bar
  3. As the land occupier (the person who does the pest control on the land in question) you may legally allow someone else to use your shotgun, rimfire or air rifle whilst under your supervision and control. I recommend having a look through BASC's website as they cover this area of shooting very well.
  4. Hey Rob, while you're at it, I'd very strongly recommend getting a bigger cabinet than you think you need. I started with a 5 gun cabinet, then went to an extra deep 9 rifle n scope cabinet and still need an extra gun cabinet under the stairs just for the shotguns. Sorry for offering unsolicited advice, but I wish someone had done the same for me years ago!
  5. Same as that mate, but I NEVER pay that surcharge they just add on your bill, f***ing piss take......I always tell them to take it off and make sure the waitress or waiter gets the drink direct in their hand.....if they deserve it. The nicer places don't seem to add it on direct, you give them it yourself. As it should be.

  8. He'll be getting some quantitive easing any time soon Just about sums it up eh? Talk about the self destruct button...he dug a hole until he realised there was no way out...and some of her evidence ie, the poor wee woman forced to do this, that and the other was insulting to women everywhere...got their just desserts...no sympathy. Exactly Consequences. Feel for their kids though - it's usually the parents who watch their offspring f**k up...must be hard to have watched your parents midlife meltdown... Totally - reading some of the things she was meant to have said to t

  10. About time that the laws of the land were applied fairly across the board. I'd have loved to have seen more done on the ridiculous expenses and fraudulent claims that many MP's were involved in too. Interesting footnote that Huhne is german for chicken too.
  11. or knocking off a bird down the road
  12. Its nothing to do with being too polite............if you went for a haircut but it wasnt very good would you say " f**k you im not paying " or would you just not go back.........you got what you paid for ! Yep, a shitty haircut. those were the days lol!
  13. Bears can run at over 30mph, but I've realised that if I'm out walking with you and a bear chases us, I don't have to outrun the bear, I only have to out run you :)

  14. Hi folks, based purely on youth requirement and ability to collect in person (thereby sparing me the faff of wrapping the thing up, and either being in for a courier or taking it to a post office etc) I've decided to give it to Billy Wiz who can pick it up either from my work place or home. I've also asked BW that if his grandson doesn't stick at the airgunning, that he passes said rifle on in similar fashion. Thanks for your interest everyone Duncan
  15. I hope they like opening envelopes with fresh dog poop in them
  16. Hi folks, I've got a BSA Supersport up for grabs in .22 flavour, FOC. Ideally I want it to go to either a newby airgunner or someone who has a kid that could benefit from this springer. It comes with a Nikko Sterling budget 4-12 scope but doesn't group that brilliantly so could probably do with some fettling or a tune. The action and barrel has been sprayed by someone as a project and the stock has been rubbed down. All in all its in pretty good serviceable order, but could probably benefit from a new trigger blade. So if anyone could use this handy workhorse, let me know. But be

  18. Thanks for the info and especially for the pic of the boot - I doubt I'd get my dog pack in the back of one so I reckon a Pathfinder is still the best choice for my circumstances. Appreciate the honest appraisal - Many thanks
  19. Anyone got one? How do they cope in the slippery stuff? Cheers Duncan
  20. Hows it going Danny? Are you sorted for shooters?
  21. As a rule of thumb, if the rifle is in a1 condition, it's worth about 2/3 of the new price.
  22. Hi, I use the hornady 17 grain stuff. I find on a still day (when I'm on form) I can clover leaf off the bipod past 150 yards, and the hilly back stop after a practise session looks like its been strafed with machine gun fire. If you can hit the kill zone, the round will kill very effectively way beyond the skill of a shooter will allow. Agree that foxes are a controversial subject with the .17, but a head shot anchors them very nicely at 100 yards; lights out.
