    In the wild, the pack leader can do what he wants and the underlings have to and do accept it. To clarify: the bone is returned and isnt a thing done to tease the dog. It's a statement of hierarchy. Its a question of who's in charge. In my pack I am in charge of every aspect of my dogs lives, not for egotistical purposes, just that this is how it has to be. Are you the pack leader? Or just the pack leader some of the time? I'm Dad to my kids 24/7, not just some of the time after all

    I know what you mean. For someone who can shoot, 1" groups at 100 yards in average conditions should be bread and butter, for pretty much any calibre.

    Surely you are the pack leader of your dogs? i don't show anyone taking food or bones from the pack, so its certainly not done for bravado or showboating. Its something which indicates and underlines the status quo. I haven't done it for months, but could do it whenever I wanted, so could the wife and kids. IMHO dogs like to know their place in the pack and are more peaceful and fulfilled because of it.

    Totally agree Bird taking bones or food off a dog is an unecessary scenario and puts an unnatural stress on a dog for no other reason than to " test him out ".......if someone come and took my fork out of my hand as it was on its way to my mouth they would get a clump and im a mere human being !......why push a dog like that show him respect the only reason you should need to touch a food bowl is to wash it after. i never went out to test her gave her some brisket one day and she came down the yard with it wagging the tail i started to rub her as she was eating away and i just took it out

    Last sunday at the end of a pigeon shoot with Bruno22rf, I had a rambler from London (60 miles away) who asked me if I can pinpoint his location on his map. He looked like an exRAF type and I pointed out a shortcut for him as he seemed to be against the clock and nightfall. He didn't seem against our guns etc, like he accepted that being out in the country means coming across country based activities. Odds on the next 'ramblers' I meet will be total anuses.

    The worst I've experienced with walkers is them coming over to talk when Iv'e been pigeon shooting and show interest - fair enough, but vexing when the flight line is busy! Times like these gives a great opportunity to be an ambassador for field sports.

    Gay! ? Tbh some on my friends list I don't really have any contact with, some I do shoot with and are friends in real life, others I do have conversation with.
