  1. Does 75gr do for munties too? i don't know what the twist rate is on the rifle, but its a standard 202 Elegance; I guess I'll have to experiment with a few different rounds for accuracy and terminal ballistic effect. You may be right with using the same round for everything as its good to know the rig inside out. The mod I've ordered is a reflex jobbee with built in muzzle flip compensator. It cost the same as a half decent rimmie on its own!
  2. Cheers Tegater, I thought 1000 rounds sounded a bit short. The Sauer I'll be picking up next week will be used on foxes with 55 grain bullets for fox and 105 for deer - a whole new discipline for me.
  3. Just wondering folks: how long does a barrel last? With a good quality .243, a friend suggested that a 1000 rounds would be as long as it would last, what has anyone experienced? Many thanks, Duncan
  4. lmao  I do the majority of the cooking here - the mrs uses the smoke detector as a timer ....

  6. Hi all, I could do with some ideas for dinner tomorrow night. We've had game every night this week so something else is called for. Fairly simple too as I'm out shooting for the day tomorrow and not something sauce based as the eldest doesn't eat meals in a sauce. Tall order - any ideas?

  10. I totally agree with this, otters are now allso decimating wildfowl numbers grey partridge numbers where I am are in my mind seriously low, mink numbers are snowballing out of control, buzzards are like sparrows everywhere, where as the traditional country man used to control and manage his area with pride, everything was kept in ballance, the first time I saw my farther cry was the day they banned hunting,Its a sorry fact that they think the badger is a vegertarian like just like them, its the old story vegetarians there is no one harder to speak with, they have there opinion and thats it rational i
  11. If you cook it so its medium rare there isn't really a liver taste - that comes on when its cooked too much/too long. Works great as burgers with no liver taste too - pm me for the recipe if you like.
  12. I've got everything from rimmies to centrefire on my ticket and my ammo safe is built into the top of my rifle safe which is no problem for Thames Valley Police.

  18. Pigeon crowns do look very nice I suppose my perspective comes from eating everything we get - the butchers and gamedealers never get a look-in. I forget that a lot of folk sell them on or give to family and friends (I do give some away occasionally, but usually as meals that are ready to eat).
  19. Used 2 crusts and a plain slice of toasting loaf, to make the breadcrumbs 2 small onions and 2 cloves of garlic blitzed in the blender, added those to the breadcrumbs. Then added some herbs (whatever was at hand without having to dig in the cuboard). This week I done the same but blitzed half a dozem mushrooms in the blender and added those as well. Next one I do I will make a force meat stuffing with a couple of pigeon breasts and some sausage meat, that should be intresting. TC Thanks for that TC, your future experiments sound promising too! Now I just need a rabbit or two to practi
  20. I used to crown my pigeons too, until I realised I was needlessly double handling them. After all, you've still got to cut the breast meat from the crowns anyway. These days I just bring the haul home, peel the skin back from the breasts and cut them out and discard the carcass. takes a minute. I guess crowning is good if you want to leave the carcasses in the field- can't see much point other than that.
  21. Whether the details described are right or not, sounds like the basis of a b movie to me.
