  1. I shot a few foxes during harvest with 50g 3" No. 1 lead and it cycled them fine.....in fact it ejected them about half a mile
  2. Well if it works for you then fair enough and as I said im no expert, but for me it would be too open because I roost shoot and flight as well as decoy so sometimes the ranges would be too far for an open choke. But im also of the opinion that its better to fill a pigeon with lead as cause wastage (I'll add at this stage that the only things that shoot and dont eat are rats foxes and crows and I hate to waste) then to prick and wound birds.
  3. 7's don't have enough velocity to justify 3/4 choke 6's or 5's do but I use 1/4 and 1/2 mostly. I'm no expert but that doesnt sound right, and anyway I didn't say it in the first place, I always go No. 6 for pigeons, I was just suggesting why he might have said it IMO As long as your not using full choke or cylinder, and your shooting between 28g 7.5s and 32g 5s and your sensible about you and your guns limitations then you cant go wrong
  4. 7s will give a denser pattern but 6s are better in popular opinion
  5. get down your local RFD preferably with a knowledgeable friend just so you don't get had and they will sort you out
  6. thats alright mate, rather you were right then me
  7. brinded nets look good, although I havent dealt with them personally
  8. your certainly not wrong about them causing damage to wildlife forget all this rubbish about lead shot and rat poison killing songbirds in the UK they should just ban cats
  9. Nice shooting bud...are cats a regular on the quarry list in oz then?
  10. give your FAO a buzz mate, he'll give you the best answer
  11. now im not superstitious, but im sure I read somewhere that a white/ yellow mole is supposed to mean your genna die soon sorry if I've just ruined your day
  12. Maybe you could ask him about roost shooting - then you could set up in the morning and be sen to be trying then up sticks at 2 o clock and go and roost shoot? unless there is a shoot on the land
  13. likelyhood is that the farmer has asked him to set up where the damage is being caused - and the pigeons are going to feed where they want to no matter how good your pattern is
  14. theres quite a bit on youtube if you type it in
  15. I tried to join but i cant get to all the forums yet......bit much faf in my opinion - shame because it seems like there is some real good knowledge on there
  16. thanks for the input, looks like im going for the four ounce atb Ratty
  17. Hello everyone couldn't find anything about it on the search, so sorry if its been done before I basically need another long net for my ferreting, 50 yards and im planning to buy 100 yards of sheet netting and put it onto my own top and bottom lines and poles, and I wasnt sure whether 4oz would be suitable or whether i should spend the extra tenner for 6oz. My main concerns are with it picking up more debris then a 6oz and the durability of the lighter netting. thanks Ratty
  18. some great shots there mate, great video, isnt mine mate...good video though
  19. can be done, I had 3 on clover last year.....wasn't particularly good pigeon land was just seeing if it would work and it did. have a look at this
  20. morning everyone first i'd better apologise because im sure this topic has been done to death, but couldn't find exactly what im looking for on the search. Basically I've just got my first ferrets, two 16 week old jills, very lively have been hand-reared, and so are pretty good biting wise, but one does like to have the occasional nibble not particularly hard, just putting her mouth around the end of my finger really). Ive tryed giving her a tap on the nose, but she then tries to bite even more, will this just stop in time because I handle them twice a day for about 10 minutes. another thoug
  21. ideal would be 32g 5s but 28g 6s you would be fine with as long as you show restraint with regards to range Ratty
