  1. decoying at this time of the year is hard because they are all flocking up o don't be disheartened mate. if theres no shoot on your perm. then try and get into some woods for a bit of roost shooting. also I personally don't think that a fox call will have any effect to the woodies unless they are close by their hearing isn't that great and they rely more on sight to detect danger. atb Ratsmasher
  2. So say Jills tend to work faster and are more inclined to leave a rabbit that is bottled up and move on, also they aren't supposed to have as good stamina as hobs Hobs were always considered to be slow methodical workers that will stick with a rabbit until it bolts and they will work for longer. HOWEVER, I work all jills just because its easier to have all of one sex and some of them work fast some work slow some lay up lots some spend most of there time bouncing around on top but still manage to find rabbits and some work all day long at a snails pace. That said I don't work hobs and ne
  3. See I don't see why that is so much of a problem. Ok it's annoying in the pigeon hide but on a clay shoot its not much different to getting a no bird. Fair enough if your a serious competition shooter but the escort isn't really for that type of person. It is a budget semi auto that you can drop in the mud and knock about a bit and it doesn't matter. And also I didn't make it clear I have a couple of rounds so it jams once or twice in shots which I can live with to save an extra 600 quid for a Benelli or beretta
  4. Yeah mine cycles the 3" magnums. The only thing it doesn't like us 2 1/2" cartridges
  5. Haha ill be honest the comment about not looking after your guns was a bit of stirring but I am a hatsan owner and mine works grand except when i haven't cleaned it after a couple hundred cartridges and then it just refuses to work but I genuinely would say that if you look after an escort it will go bang and cycle most times. I shoot a couple of rounds at a 40 bird clay shoot near me and most days it has one or two miscycles but I can deal with that and I think most people can. As for the ugly comment at the end of the day IMO semi autos aren't nice looking guns just workhorses but maybe not
  6. Anyone know a decent water for chub nr bury at Edmunds Also on the off chance has anyone fished blue lake in woolpit recently?
  7. I don't really see where all this anti hatsan stuff comes from. The way I see it is the people who have had them say either yeah they're fine if you look after them or they say there the worst gun ever made... Well I think from that its clear that the peopl who say they're crap just don't look after they're guns very well. And as for all the Benelli shooters I think they're a bit miffed tht they spend a grand on a gun that is always going to be an ugly workhorse ...... Just the way I see it
  8. Just get up to your nearest fac rated target club and say what you just said to us and they will give you a load of help and advice. It's not what you know it's who you know.
  9. Morning all I looking at upgrading my lamp for lamping rabbits and foxes. Having done a bit of research I have narrowed it down to the tracer max pro and the tracer tri star pro. Anyone got any feedback on either of these two? Atb Ratsmasher
  10. Tbh I think that most cartridges perform similar enough that the average shooter probably wouldn't be affected. I think it's just psychological and just having confidence in what you use

  16. Evening everyone I've managed to get two snap caps stuck in the magazine tube of my hatsan escort. Any ideas of how to get them out? I've had a right fiddle with a knife and tryed firing a live cartridge to see if it will cycle it then but no luck. Any advice would be really great I'm going to ring Edgar brothers tomorrow

  19. Ha ha. Foxed me. I'm guessing you're either visiting the UK or don't live in Aus anymore. No mate 'still here in Aus whys that...? Well if it was an English wood then you must have either moved back or been visiting, unless of course you have some secret time portal in the woods - this side Aus that side Pommy land... I dont think I follow what your saying mate..? You just said that the fox came from England?
  20. You can't use and dog to kill a fox but you can use up to two to bolt them from cover or one terrier underground to bay up or bolt them. Most people just shoot them
  21. Morning all I've just got my court system set up and I want to run all my ferrets together I've got two adult Jill's, 7 Jill kits about 9 weeks old and the father of the kits which is now vasectomiesed I've just introduced them all together into the court and it seems to be getting on ok but every so often the hob grabs a kit and starts dragging it about by the skin is this it just establishing a sort of hierarchy or is he trying to mate them or what? Is it possible to run jobs with Jill's year round? Any advice would be appreciated CheersRatsmasher
